maxUrlLength is useless for ASP.NET MVC 2 run under ASP.NET 4 AppPool

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 09, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
I was tested "Expanding the Range of Allowable URLs" for this ASP.NET 4 new feature.  The maxUrlLength attribute under <httpRuntime> section in the web.config is only apply to ASP.NET 4 Web Form files.  I couldn't use this feature in ASP.NET MVC 2 that run under ASP.NET 4 application pool.  Does anyone know this problem?

{ End Bracket }: To Confirm is Useless, to Undo Divine

The common user interface technique of confirmation, popping a dialog box into the user's face and asking, "Are you really REALLY sure you want to do that?" is evil. It's unfriendly, it's distracting, and it's completely ineffective.

Any Ideas on how to fix this issue?

Visual Studio 2005, Windows 7 64bit, SQL Server 2005 Express

sql server 2008 import/export wizard... completely useless??

import/export wizard in 2000 had lots of options.

I could copy databases without a care in the world. Including constraints, stored proc., AND the data, etc.

Now, with v2008, the wizard is dumbed down too much. It's a "stupid" copy function that fails on the first constraint it meets.

"Copy database.." is not an option here: it needs sysadmin on both source and destination server.

Re-adding the constraints manually is not an option either: the database is WAY too large.

I'm actually hoping there is a temporary bug in the import/export wizard. Each option (and you have THREE...) returns with a new error.

Googling, I found I am not alone:

This post is exactly my situation. Here's what his post says: (bolded key parts)

I'm trying to get used to sql server 2008 having been forced to upgrade by my isp. I need to back up my key db on a weekly remote schedule, so have been trying to use ssms to export data from my remote db to a local copy.

Firstly I created a new empty db on the local machine. Then I scripted the structure of the db on the remote machine and ran the resulting query on the local machin

IIS AppPool Account

It appears that IIS 7 defaults to a userid with the same name as the AppPool name.  For example, APPPoolX runs under an ID of AppPoolX.  Is it possible to use a different account?

Using IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool to access SQL Server

Hi all, I am taking over a web application from someone and while setting up the database in my environment I notied they are granting database access to the IIS AppPool\DefaultAppPool network service. Is this something that should be done and why? I have had some people tell me this is wrong, and others tell me that it is fine. I would like your expert opinions on this matter.

Thanks all for your help in this!

Central Administration not Available, STSADM password reset errors "job-admin-apppool-change" alread

Hi Everyone,

I think I've shot myself in the foot by not properly following set up instructions.

I have a two-fold problem.  Firstly, my Sharepoint Central Administration V4 site is showing Service Not Available.  This seems to be related to the credentials the Central Administration V4 Application Pool - hitting Test Settings within IIS Manager for the site shows an Authentication and Authorization error for the credentials due to a bad password.

My reading indicates that I should run something to the effect of:

%STSADM -o updatefarmcredentials -userlogin DOMAIN\username -password <new password as set via AD>

This runs into the following Error message

Error deploying administration application pool credentials. Another deployment may be active. An object of the type Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPAdminAppPoolCredentialDeploymentJobDefinition named "job-admin-apppool-change" already exists under the parent Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPTimerService named "SPTimerV4".  Rename your object or delete the existing object.

Is it possible to hide a useless node from a hierarchy by default

I have a fact table that has a key column to which I basically connect 3 different dimension hierarchies. The hierarchies have some common keys but several keys that aren't common and are put under a "Not applicable" node in each hierarchy. When I'm browsing the cube I can easily hide the "Not applicable" node by deselecting it but is it possible to hide the node by default?

TCP exception - need to restart AppPool

I've 3 services hosted in IIS. They Expose both TCP and Http endpoints. Now, we've discovered that the TCP endpoint can fail but the HTTP endpoints still work. The only way to solve the problem so far is to restart the AppPool. The TCP endpoints are using PortSharing. It happens only sometimes so it's hard to see a pattern what might cause it. I noticed that the problem occurred also when only one service used a TCP endpoint. Everything works fine until suddenly the service stops responding. Nothing happens when trying to communicate over the TCP endpoint. I think these are the error messages generated when the service fails:
