SQL Script Version Control

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi, I've been using file name with date plus the time stamp as my version control. As my library grow it's getting out of control and there are chances that I mistakenly saved the file over the previous version. What is the best practice and tool for SQL version stored procedures, scripts, tables version control?

Full Control users only able to edit Shared Version of page in MOSS 2007

Hi, In MOSS 2007 we have a site collection that does not allow the owners to edit pages. There is no broken inheritance in the permissions, and when a user clicks "Site Actions" and then "Edit" they get a toolbar saying they are only editing the Shared Version of the page. No pages are checked out to any other users either and the users attempting this (including the Farm account) are not able to edit these pages. What would be the next steps to debugging this problem as it is not one I have encountered previously?

AJAX Control Toolkit version mismatch

I just downloaded the April 12 release of ajax control toolkit. when I put the modal pop up extender in the page, I was getting ajax script 4.0 required errors. it turns out that I had different version.

How do I know which version is compatible. I had built the application in VS 2008 3.5 framework. The recommended download version was 3.5 zip file on codeplex.

Question about Workflow in Document Library with version control and check-in/out enabled

I use Sharepoint Foundation 2010 and have a workflow to set some metadata in a document with version control and check-in/check-out enabled (approval content is not enabled because anyone in the team can be a possible editor of the document).

My metadata is:

- a generated doc id with text+id (example P&D_1)

- a calculated status based in version: minor version = "on development" and major-version="published/approved"

I defined two workflows:

1) is called when item is created to define id and status.

2) is called when item is updated and status is re-calculated if version is major. (It is called in every item change, not only when user wants to publish a major version, because this option doesn't appear in SPD)

I noticed that sharepoint workflow must do a check-out to be able to update metadata, and because of this the version number is incremented. When version is minor, I don't care, but when version is major I have a problem, because just after publishing the version 1.0, the workflow changes metadata and the version to 1.1. and 1.1 means that the document is not approved anymore...

a) Isn't it possible to do the workflow to check-in and override the last/current version to not generate a new version??

b) Or is it possible to stop versi

trying to use custom assembly with script task in SSIS 2008 - can't find correct version of GACUtil

I am trying to use a custom assembly (compiled with VS 2005 framework 2.0) with SSIS 2008.  I understand that I need to put this Assembly in the GAC.  I initially attempted to do this using the GACUtil, but I apparently only have version 1.1 of GACUtil intalled on my development PC.  Shouldn't version 2.0 have been installed as part of VS 2005?

So I then tried simply copying the dll into the GAC folder using windows explorer.  Well, the dll is now visibly in the GAC folder, but I cannot see it from either VS 2005 or BIDS 2008.  Does that mean I do need to use GACUtil 2.0 or higher to install the DLL into the GAC?  If so, is there any place on the Web that I can download it?

Sharepoint Document Version Control

I am wanting to migrate a number of existing documents into sharepoint so they can be version managed.  However, most of these documents are already up to version 10 etc (on a manual system), I am wanting to start the versioning in sharepoint at a particular version instead of 1.  Has anyone done this?

Java script validation vs Tab control

I want to add tab control in existing asp.net page. The problem is to when I add it the controls used in tab panel get prefix at runtime and all the validations get errors(Java script validations). I know only one way to solve this problem; that was add the prefix(actually tab control name with some symbols) to every control accessing places. But this is very difficult because my page has more than 200 control (using java script) and it is difficult to change every control depending on tab control. Is there any easy way to do this?

Exception in passing strings from .NET to Microsoft Script Control

Hi folks,

I am trying to run VBScripts at runtime using a C# .NET Application. I am able to get data from the VBScript using object arrays and pass data to it using .AddObject(,,) method.

However, in passing different data types to the script, it's behaving in a curious way: It accepts Int32 type objects from .net but when i try to pass .net strings, I need to use the format ObjectName.ToString wherever i reference the string object in my VBScript code.

Here is a sample of the C# code I am using:

//scriptText holds the vb script to run
ScriptControl sc = new ScriptControl();
sc.Language = "VBScript";
sc.AddObject("Argument", "Hi", true);
object obj = sc.Eval("Main()");

Here is a sample VB Script which should work but doesn't:

Function Main()
	'Argument - passed to the VBScript
	Dim Output(1)
	Output(0) = Argument 'Pass the argument
	Main = Output
end Function

and the vb script which works :
