We got 4 PC (Servers I mean) , Each Server installed SQL server 2000 at the moment. 2 Servers is for Web Site and Other 2 Server for our in house software. We are going to migrate all the Servers to SQL 2008 Standard. I will going to buy 20 CAL License with 4 sql 2008 standard edition becasue we got 18 users in our office. My questions is - 1. Where do I need to License those CAL to access 4 Servers which are sql server 2008 installed? From Each Client PC or I can do it on Server where SQL installed.2. Which Server I need to install CAL License if I need to setup on Server (coz..I got 4 servers)?3. Does it work 1 CAL License can use across 4 servers which are SQL installed? Thanks.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Standard edition License update (Developer license to Production License)

We have an MSDN copy of the SQL server 2008 R2 standard edition which we have installed in production environment. We have subsequently bought a licensed copy of MS SQL server 2008 r2 Standard edition. Using the feature Maintenance and Edition Upgrade in SQL setup, we have updated the licensed product key information of the SQL server 2008 R2 from licensed setup file in production environment. We wanted to know how to view the licensed product key information from the server. Also we wanted to check if we have completed the process and we are legally using the software

Query: select serverproperty('LicenseType'),serverproperty('NumLicenses') Is always returning “Disabled” and “NULL” before and after using Edition upgrade with valid license details.

SQL 2008 Upgrade Standard to Enterprise: Fail

I'm trying to upgrade an existing SQL Server 2008 SP1 Standard Edition to Enterprise.  Running the enterprise edition maintenance->Upgrade Edition wizard first got me the dreaded "Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created." Eventually, I found an entry on Connect that mentioned closing all other windows and ensuring that the installer has the focus and this got me past that error.  Now that I can run the edition upgrade through to successful completion, it's not actually doing anything. Edition still reports as "Standard" and enterprise features such as "Compress Backups" do not work. I've run the upgrade twice and restarted the system to no effect. Before I do a "Rip and Replace" does anyone have any ideas on how to actually get the edition upgrade to work? Steve G. OS:    Windows Server 2008 R2 DB:    Product: SQL Server Standard Edition (64-bit)   Version: 10.0.2531.0 P.S. Just in case someone asks, yes, I did follow the instructions located here.

Slow sql-server after upgrade from SQL-Server 2005 x64 standard to SQL-Server 2008 R2 x64 enterprise

We moved our databases to new hardware today (using copy database wizard)

The new hardware should be better than the old one.

We went from 28 GB ram to 128 GB.

We went from 16 cores to 32 cores (with even more cache etc.). We also moved from external SAN with 40 disks to intern disks (8 Samsung SS805 100gb ssd slc)

According to our own metrics we could get twice the IO using IO m

SBS STANDARD 2008 & SQL ENTERPRISE 2008 ON SAME MACHINE

We are a Prtner and get both of theseas part of our Action Pack subscription.  I am also installing CRM 4.0 on our SBS STANDARD 2008 Server.  Is it possible to put both the SQL 2008 ENTERRISE R2 and SBS 2008 STANDARD on the same box?  CRM 4.0 REQUIRES SQL for the Reporting functions etc.

I need to do this asap as our Old Server is failing daily

SQL Server 2008 Standard

My virtual machine, Windows server 2008 R2, was setup to run Power Save by Faronics.  Faronics requires SQL.  I purchased SQL Server 2008 R2 standard, but Faronics is not certified on SQL 2008 Standard R2, so I downgraded to just SQL 2008 Standard.

While trying to install SQL Standard 2008 I go a message that "The program has known compatiblity issues, and SQL Server 2008 Service Pack 1 must be applied after setup completes", I clicked Run Program but go the message "Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP 1 install failed".  After googling, I found info about using Server Manager to install .Net Framework 3.5 as a role, which I did, and .Net 3.5.1 is on the list of roles for the server, but the message about .Net Framework still comes up.
