Multiple Values to the Variable, HOW?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi All, I'm trying below query which is working fine:- DECLARE @FULLNAME VARCHAR SET @FULLNAME = 'PQR, ABC L.' SELECT ID FROM TABLE-NAME WHERE LAST_NAME = SUBSTRING(@FULLNAME, 1, PATINDEX('%,%', @FULLNAME) -1) AND FIRST_NAME = LTRIM(RTRIM(SUBSTRING(@FULLNAME, PATINDEX('%,%', @FULLNAME)+1 , PATINDEX('% %', @FULLNAME)))) But when I include two values to the same variable something like this:- DECLARE @FULLNAME VARCHAR SET @FULLNAME = 'PQR, ABC L.', 'LMN, XYZ' SELECT ID FROM TABLE-NAME WHERE LAST_NAME IN SUBSTRING(@FULLNAME, 1, PATINDEX('%,%', @FULLNAME) -1) AND FIRST_NAME IN LTRIM(RTRIM(SUBSTRING(@FULLNAME, PATINDEX('%,%', @FULLNAME)+1 , PATINDEX('% %', @FULLNAME)))) It is giving me error as:- "Incorrect syntax near 'SUBSTRING'." This is because my @FULLNAME will be an SSRS report parameter and which is going to be multi-value parameter. Any Help Please? Thanks Regards, Kumar

Configure BDC column to have multiple values selected

How do I Configure BDC column to have multiple values selected and make multiple entities data available in the same column.  Currently it supports only single value for an item.  This requirement is crucial need some solution immediately.

BDC Column with Ability to Select Multiple Values

Use Case:

We are creating a storage location for technical product articles. These will be SharePoint publishing pages. Each page will have metadata assigned to it to make it searchable by properties. The possible values for one of the columns (Part Number) could potentially be sourced by our ERP system. I'd like to do this to eliminate the possibility of free-text entry errors, but there are probably over 10,000 parts so a drop-down list isn't feasible.

Ideal Situation:

The end user enters the part number and clicks a button to verify it against a BDC entry from our ERP system. If they weren't sure on the part number they needed, they could do a lookup from that metadata entry screen. They'd need to have the option to add multiple part numbers as one technical product article could reference multiple part numbers.

Is BDC an option for all of this or am I looking at a custom metadata solution? I thought I heard along the way that BDC only supported one value choice, but I couldn't find a verification for that in the forums.

How do you create a custom BDC data field that allows for multiple selected values?

I need help creating a custom data field using the BDC column as a base.  We need to allow for multiple selected values instead of just a single one.  I can't find anything on the net which shows how to do this.

Multiple Values Grouping

Hi all, Please could you help to get multiple values grouping implemented properly? I need to group a set of instances by groups. Some instances belong to multiple groups. I have used listbox and GroupDescriptions for that. Those instances that belong to several groups are shown as duplicates (like in Outlook when letter belongs to several categories). But selection of items becomes buggy. Even if ListBox SelectionMode is Single, it is possible to get two different items (not duplicates) to be selected simultaniously. Please use my code example. Launch application Put check into checkbox to apply grouping. Select Potato(Tasty). Select Tomato(Round). Select Potato(Tasty). Select Tomato(Round). Notice that Potato(Tasty) and Tomato(Round) are selected simultaniously.   <Window x:Class="GroupingSample.Window1" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="Grouping Sample" Width="220" Height="550"> <StackPanel> <TextBlock Margin="12,5,5,0" FontSize="20" Text="My Task List"/> <CheckBox Margin="10,5,5,10" Checked="AddGrouping" Unchecked="RemoveGrouping">Group by task type</CheckBox> <ListBox Margin="10&qu

Comparing Null Values(from variable) in SSIS

Hi All I need to create a script that checks to see if a variable value is NULL, if it is then it executes the next SQL Task and if not then the package has finished. I have this in a SQL 2000 DTS package script: Function Main() If isnull(DTSGlobalVariables("NextLoadDate")) Then Main = DTSStepScriptResult_DontExecuteTask Else Main = DTSStepScriptResult_ExecuteTask End if End Function As you can see, all I want to do is check to see if a variable is null then don't execute the next task. But i cannot get it to work in a SQL 2005 SSIS package, so far I have created a script and come up with the following: Public Sub Main() If Dts.Variables("NextLoadDate").Value.ToString <> "" Then Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Success Else Dts.TaskResult = Dts.Results.Failure End If End Sub Any Ideas? Thanks BigGopher

create multiple columsn based on a passed in variable

Hi, I am clueless as to how the following would be done. Would appreciate imputs: i would be passed in a StartDate and EndDate along with a Period(Week,Month,Quarter,Year).  this would be an INT which is calculated in the following way -- Suppose he selects StartDate = 2010-01-01, EndDate = 2010-02-28, and Period = Weeks ---> Which would mean my resultset would have a additional 9 columns (9 weeks using DateDiff(Week,@startdate,@enddate) The number of fixed columns always will be 4 Total # of records that would always come back is > 10 something like this CategoryTypeId(int),ParentCategory(uniqueidentifier),Id(uniqueidentifier),Name nvarchar(50),Wk1,Wk2.....Wk9 1,xxxx,xxxx,'Shopping',650,300,1275....1000   (i dont't need to total the wk,month, qurter or yearly. This would be taken care on the front end) Thanks!

SSRS problem with passing multiple parameter values via URL %2c

Hi, I have a problem with passing multiple parameter values from one report (A) to another report (B).   For example I built a URL string in report (A) with the parameters like &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2. As soon as I click on that URL the URL parameters look like &Parameter1=1%2c2 and the parameters don’t getting populated on report (B).   If I change the parameter in the URL to &Parameter1=1&Parameter1=2 and execute the URL manual the parameter on report (B) getting populated properly.   Is there a way to disable the coding like %2c (comma) or is there another solution for it?   Thanks
