Directory lookup for the file failed with the operating system error 5

Hi I have a Windows desktop application that uses a SQLServer Express database.  The database files are downloaded from my website, followed by the application download (written in VBE).  The first procedure is to attach the database to the SQLServer instance from within the application. I have two test machines one runs Windows XP x84, the other Windows 7 x64.  I never have issues on attaching the database files in my test envirnoment but twice now other people downloading have got the following error System.Data.Sqlclient.sqlexception (ox 80131904) Directory lookup for the file C:\Documtents and Settings\Administrator\Desktop\Tem1.mdf failed with the operating system error 5 (failed to retrieve text for this error. Reason 1815) changed database context to 'master'. I'm not sure what the problem is and therefore how to correct the issue.  I attach the database in code using the create statement e.g. cmd7.CommandText = "USE Master CREATE DATABASE Tem1 ON PRIMARY (FILENAME = '" & DBFullPath & "') LOG ON (FILENAME = '" & DbLogPath & "') FOR ATTACH" Any help or suggestions would be very much appreciated. System.OutOfMemoryException while fetching 100000 records over WCF 10 times

Hi, I am testing bulk data transfer over WCF service and my scenario is as follows. WCF service contains method GetData which fetch data from DB(100000 records), fills datatable, converts this datatable to array of string and returns this array of string This service is hosted in the windows app programmatically (No config file) AT the client side, proxy object is created using channelfactory In a button click event, simply call to GetData method and holds it into string array, then covert this array back to datatable and assign this datatable to grid. I have written custom class to convert datatable to string array and vice versa which will be available on both sides. Now when I click button to execute this operation, then 9 times it works perfectly fine but on the 10th click it gives System.OutOfMemoryException in custom class method which coverts array to datatable and each time error is on different line. I am unable to find solution for it. I have tried setting all used objects to nothing wherever possible but the error still persists. Can anyone help me on this. Regards, PrabiI can be still better.

Login failed for user: Reason:Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure err

Hi,

I have installed a named instance of SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 bit. The os is running as a VM ware virtual machine.

I have created an AD security group for database engine sys admins on that machine. I added my user to that group.So for example;

domainname\machinename_SQL_DBE_SysADmins is a user with SysAdmin server role permissions. User domainname\MichaelEFF is a member of this group.

When I log onto the machine as this user and run the management studio with run as administrator I cannot log into the database engine. The log shows the error:

Login failed for user: Reason:Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error

I've read many posts where the MVP says that the UAC is not passing the group membership. Is this the case? If so then how will role based access ever be possible with windows authentication? How can this be resolved?

Thanks!

Michael

I've tried to diagnose the error, after reading this link: http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2010/07/21/how-to-diagnose-quot-operating-system-supported-for-edition-quot-pre-requisite-errors-while-installing-sql-2008-standard-edition-for-small-business.aspx

xbap Request for the permission of type System.Net.WebPermission failed

Hi,

I've developed and XBAP application that talks to a WCF service.  I set my XBAP to partial trust and everything worked just fine.

I then added code to the WCF service that uses System.DirectoryServices to talk to my Active Directory server.  I tried to debug the XBAP after I added this code and I am recieving the following error.  Request for the permission of type System.Net.WebPermission failed.

When I set my XBAP to full trust everything works ok.  However I don't understand why I need to set my XBAP to full trust when it's the WCF service that uses System.DirectoryServices to talk with the Active Directory Server and not the XBAP application.

Thanks in advance!
