Deadlock during CUBE Synchronization

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
When OLAP database synchornizes with other OLAP database, we get error saying ""Transaction errors: Aborting transaction on session %". what might be reason for this error when CUBE/database syncs with other database. As per understanding, sync should not hold any locks> any help here will be greatly appreciated.SugeshKumar

Does Cube Synchronization Support Network Service Account

We are doing Cube Sync between 2 servers. Analysis Service on Both Machines are running under built in Network Service account. When i do cube sync i get following error;

Executing the query ...
Errors in the OLE DB provider. The server returned the following error:  (Either the user, DOMAIN\MACHINE$, does not have access to the Country database, or the database does not exist.).
Backup and restore errors: An error occurred while synchronizing the 'Country' database.
Execution complete

Does SSAS Sync supports using Network Service Account?

If Yes then how do i do this. I tried creating a role in SSAS database and Give Full Rights to Network Service account of source server but i keep getting error DOMAIN\MachineName$ not found.

Please advise.

MSAS Cube synchronization under 10 MB/sec on one server, 36 MB/sec on other

Brief Problem Description:  MSAS Cube synchronization under 10 MB/sec.

We run more than 20 servers supporting Microsoft SQL Server and  Analysis Services.

In all cases the operating systems is 2008 R2 enterprise.

The systems are all modern 64 bit with 64GB to 256GB of main memory.

Servers have dual “teamed” 1 Gb/s network connections.

We implement the concept of a staging server and a live server.

On the staging server  the MSAS cube is regularly updated from the local SQL Server DB. The live cube server is then synchronized from the staging cube. Users only go against the live cube.

Deadlock for a cube processing - SSAS 2005

I have a scheduled job with a step that calls a cube processing. This job run daily. Some times the processing stops for a deadlock. I have seen that when the processing overcomes 60-70 minutes a deadlock occurs. Is it possible that any settings for the Analysis Server instance can affect to the deadlock occurence?

Many thank for your helps.

In Sync: Creating Synchronization Providers with the Sync Framework

The Sync Framework can be used to build apps that synchronize data from any data store using any protocol over a network. We'll show you how it works and get you started building a custom sync provider.

Synchronization Coverage: Code Coverage for Concurrency

As more and more multi-threaded software applications get developed, software development professionals need to adopt new tools, techniques and metrics that can deal with multi-threaded software. Synchronization coverage is a simple, practical way to do this and this article covers a prototype synchronization coverage tool for .NET, called Sync Cover.

Foundations: Synchronization Contexts in WCF

After a description of what synchronization contexts are and how WCF uses them, the author demonstrates various options for extending WCF to use custom synchronization contexts, both programmatically and declaratively.

Concurrent Affairs: Build a Richer Thread Synchronization Lock

In my last column, I showed the various thread synchronization mechanisms employed by the Microsoft® . NET Framework (see Concurrent Affairs: Performance-Conscious Thread Synchronization). I then examined the performance characteristics of all these mechanisms and determined that the Interlocked methods performed the best because the calling thread never has to transition to kernel mode.

Concurrent Affairs: Performance-Conscious Thread Synchronization

In my career, I have architected and implemented many thread synchronization techniques. This has provided me with a lot of experience that has shaped the way I now think about thread synchronization problems.

Basic Instincts: Thread Synchronization

My last three Basic Instincts columns have examined techniques for using asynchronous delegates and creating secondary threads. Those columns demonstrated how to introduce multithreaded behavior into your applications.

.NET Column: Safe Thread Synchronization

By far, the most common use of thread synchronization is to ensure mutually exclusive access to a shared resource by multiple threads. In the Win32® API, the CRITICAL_SECTION structure and associated functions offers the fastest and most efficient way to synchronize threads for mutually exclusive access when the threads are all running in a single process.

Web Farms: Use Data Caching Techniques to Boost Performance and Ensure Synchronization

Performance is an important concern for any application, but becomes critical when the app is a Web Service accessed by thousands of clients simultaneously. One hardware approach to distributing Web Services requests evenly is a Web farm consisting of multiple servers. Once on a Web farm, Web Service performance can be improved by using ADO.NET DataSet objects to cache frequently accessed data, reducing round-trips to the database. Here the author describes data caching in a Web farm environment and discusses how to avoid the cross-server synchronization problems inherent in this approach.

Clustering on cube slices

Hi, I would like to use the clustering algorithm "seperately" on each cube slice.  The problem description: Having many employes and their arrival-to-work time I created a cube with a fact table and 3 dimensions: Employee, Time, Office and I would like to run the clustering algorithm seperately for each employee to receive his arrival-to-work clusters and to find his exceptions e.g., for the employee John who has the following arrival time records: 08:05, 07:55, 8:10, 8:07, 10:30, 10:31, 10:28, 15:00 I want to receive two clusters, the first one will include  08:05, 07:55, 8:10, 8:07 The second one will include 10:30, 10:31, 10:28 (and the exception will be 15:00) Having many employees I would like to create one data mining model and to use the cube slice and dice options    Searching the web and the MSDN I didn't find whether and how it can be done - I will very appreciate your help   Thanks in advance, Lora
