Problem with Merge Join and condition splt trasnformations in SSIS 2008

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hey, While working SSIS in 2008 we have encountering some weird problems with Merge, Merge Join and Condition Spilt transformations, here are the details... Condition Split and Merge Join and Condition Split: Please check the below diagram(not really just tried) for the complete details. Just FYI data is in sorted order   condition Split -> 420000      | 18                                                          | 419982  Merge Join(left)  -- src1(6000)      |10  Condition Split      |9     |1   the merge join transformation is not returning the complete 18 rows to the next transformation that's why we are missing 8 rows. But if we adds a sort transformation (getting warning as data is already sorted) before merge then complete 18 rows were passing to the condition split. Also tried modifing the source query just to return 18 rows then also it was passing the 18 rows to next trasnformation except with full load.       Merge: We have two sorted data sources and first one has 40000 records and second source have 12000 records and after the Merge transformation we have Condition Split transfor

Merge Join in SSIS 2005 Vs 2008

I have a process which reads from 2 tables (using two connection managers) and "merge join" them to a third table by using left outer join.

This process is implemented on SSIS 2005 and SSIS 2008 identically, however, for some reason I get less records at the third table at the 2008 process.

When implementing this merge join on Sql Server 2008 and Sql Server 2005 I get the same result as I got at the SSIS 2005 process - so it seems like the problem is at the SSIS 2008 process.
I've checked the merge join properties - they look similar on 2005 and 2008.
Does anyone knows if the 2008 merge join object should be configured differently than the 2005 merge join?
I have nulls on some the fields that connect the two tables - do you think it's got to do with it?
What else can I check?

SSIS 2008: Problem reading dynamic file during execution

I have a SSIS 2008 project that reads a bunch of files from a file (always the same file) from Machine A.
My package is running on Machine B and this is where the information is being imported to, my Reporting DB (sql 2008) is also located in Machine B.
I have a dynamic log file that stores the execution errors every time the package is executed and its name is made up of the timestamp of when package starts executing. The "DelayValidation" option for this connection is set to "TRUE". When i execute my Package from Visual Studio 2008, it runs without a problem.
The problem is when i deploy my package into SQL Server 2008 and try running it through DTEXEC. I always get the following error:

Error: 2010-11-03 14:57:29.06
   Code: 0xC001401E
   Source: MyImportPackage Connection manager "ImportLog"
Description: The file name "\\ip-address\d$\Logs\ImportManager\20101103_145726.txt" specified in the connection was not valid.

Schedule problem with SSIS package on SQL Server 2008

Hello there

Step 1 - I created my first SSIS package (simple ole db source to file destination scenario) in BIDS 2008. I created and run this on the SQL Server 2008 - SP1(on Win2k3 SP2 - 64 bit machine). This integratin scenario creates a flat file with some records in it (records modified today). This packages runs ok from BIDS.

Step 2- After deploying this SSIS package to the SQL Server 2008, I was able to run it successfully. The package created a flat file with some records.

On the two occasions above, the ssis package did exactly what I wanted it to do.

I tried to create SQL Server Agent job selected the Type as SSIS package, allowed this package to run under Windows Authentication (service account - same account used as in Steps 1 & 2). Before scheduling, I thought why not run this manually. The job ran successfully (looked at the success message and the history of the job), but a flat file was created (as expected) without any records (not as expected!)

Please note I have tried the default protection level ("EncryptSensitiveWithUserKey") as well as ("DontSaveSensitive") on the package.

I am suspecting that when the SSIS package is scheduled the SQL Server Agent is unable to pass the authentication to the SSIS package !?

Some help will be appreciated.

Using Conditional Split data Transfer in SSIS 2008

This article uses the Integration Services Conditional Split Data Transformation element to filter and transfer data from a set of flat text files to SQL Server database table. The concept can be easily extended to apply to any other source or destination such as Microsoft Excel. This scenario is useful in creating denormalized database tables in a reporting and analysis situation.

Problem opening dotnet 1.1 projet on 2008 web server

We recently upgraded to a 2008 development web server and I installed all the stuff to get dot net 1.1 app working on the server.  I can host them and they work.  My problem is that when I try to open one in VS 2003 I get the following error.  I set up the web server the same as my previous one, and I think a long time  ago I got this error when we set up current one but do not remember how to resolve it.  So I moved my project files from the old server to the new server and then I get these errors.

The web Server reported the following error when attempting to create or open the Web Project located at the following url: Http://localhost:/MobTracker. 'Http/1.1 500 server error

Problem adding .NET 3.5.1 feature on Server 2008 R2

Having an issue with a 2008 R2 64-bit Server becoming unresponsive/locking up when trying to activate the .NET 3.5.1 feature.  Did not have any previous version of .NET installed but ran the .NET Cleanup utility and completed successfully but still have same issue.  It installed .NET 4 via the Microsoft Updates OK but still hangs part way through the 3.5.1 install via the Server Manager/Add Features.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

repeating merge joins using full outer join - should be possible without sort, but cannot get the co

Hello,   I am trying to combine several source tables with Merge Join.  For the Moment I have three source tables all already sorted in the source query and the is sorted property with the correct keys set. (its an aggregate query with group by and sort by the key columns) Then I do a merge join between two of the tables - with a full outer join. Then I just want to do another merge join with the output of the next result. but as the merge join do not combine the key columns into one column I need to add a derived column which substitute null values on the left side of the join with values from the right side of the join. The second merge then says only the left columns of the first merge join is sorted, but not the comined columns. If i Replace with a derived column the left side primary key columsn with the combinded key columns the next merge join says the input is not sorrted? But the output must be sorted. So how do I get the next merge join working without the ssis sort transformation? the data is sorted, but the component does not recognize the sorted data? I do not want to use (can use) the sort because there are flowing >= 500 Mio. records through the pipeline. Any help appreciated.   Hanneshttp://www.hmayer.net/

Issues with SSIS and SQL 2008 - Integration services not running

Hey guys, I installed SQL 2008 with complete BI studio including Integration Services. When i check in my services - i cant see my integraiton services in there When i try to connect to Integration Service using localhost, I cant connect it And when i try to run setup of SQL 2008 - It shows that Integration Services already installed and that what i checked when i fetched my Installation tool report from SQL Server to verify i have it installed. Why can i access Integration services, if i already have it, Please suggest with ideas, checks i can make to ensure every setting is in place. Thanks. Would appreciate for quick response.

Execute SSIS Package PART based on Some Condition

Hello, Is it possible to execute part of the Package based some condition? (Like If var1 = true, then execute this block). If Yes, what control flow I should use. Please advse. I will have a Package Variable and if that variable is True then some part should execute. REst all should execute every time the package is called. Like if I will have "2 Sequence Container" in my control flow, the first one should execute every time, but 2nd one only if the variable value = True. Thanks, Prabhat

Output parameters in OLEDB Command component - SSIS 2008

I have a package that I developed in SSIS 2005 and recently ported to 2008. Everything runs great except an OLE DB Command component that calls a stored procedure that uses output parameters. When I try to run this, I get this error: Error: 0xC0202009 at Data Flow Task, OLE DB Command [100]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft SQL Server Native Client 10.0" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Syntax error, permission violation, or other nonspecific error". Error: 0xC004701A at Data Flow Task, SSIS.Pipeline: component "OLE DB Command" (100) failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC0202009. When I do the same thing in SSIS2005, it works fine. So I setup a new package with 1 data flow. In that data flow, I added a source component, an OLE DB Command, and a destination.  I then tested this with a stored procedure that took no parameters. It worked fine. I then tested it with a stored procedure with 1 parameter defined as OUTPUT. This generated the error.   Is there an issue with output parameters in an OLE DB Command in SSIS 2008?   Thanks!http://bobp1339.blogspot.com

Deploying problem with SQL Express 2008 R2

Scientific software package works fine with SQL Express 2008 R2 on developing (mother) PC and Admin login mode, but difficulties are found elsewhere during installing and deploying on the client PCs.  We have used from year 2000 BDE (Borland Database Engine), which worked fine until now, but recently customers had been installing problems with Vista, Windows 7 and the local administration rights or permissions.   Thus I thought to test NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE authentication, as this system is hopefully working again decades with coming new Windows versions. As not need to touch databases, ADO and authentication matters during last decade, I’m newbie with those topics.  Worked now few days with this problem, installed and unistalled SQL servers according to instructions, tested different connecting strings and now cannot found correction.  Solution is maybe and hopefully simple.   Attached is log data cut from (old and many times corrected) the main mother XP platform in Admin and Client (Guest) modes.  Same tests are done also with fresh XP installation on VirtualBox.  Used connecting strings are presented inside log files:           Main mother XP at Admin login:   2010-08-20 08:24:45.82 Server      Server local connection provider is ready to accept connection on [ \\.\pip

problem with inner join

Hi, I'm trying to create an sql query with multiple inner joins, but I can't manage this. I have 3 tables (bookings, accountplan, costs), where the data come from. In accountplan are hold the accounts, in costs the cost codes and their names, in bookings the booked events. Based on a booking event, I need the account name, the name of the cost code and all data from bookings (I need the cred account name too, but I can't figure out yet, how I can get this) I tried this: "SELECT bookings.*, accountplan.accountname, costs.costname FROM bookings INNER JOIN accountplan ON bookings.debaccount=accountplan.account INNER JOIN costs ON bookings.costcode=costs.costcode" It is here a where clause too, but I tested it, it's ok. The above query results no rows. If I remove the costs table and the inner join with it, it works. What am I missing?

SQL 2008 Installation problem (Could not fix registry key)

Hello, I want to install SQL 2008 client tools on a Win 2008 machine. The machine already contains an instance of SQL 2005 Express which I don't want to unistall. The problem is that the installation wizard complains about Consistency Validation for SQL registry keys. The log shows the following: 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp: Could not fix registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\Client\ConnectTo. 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp: System.NullReferenceException: Referencia a objeto no establecida como instancia de un objeto. 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.ContainsInheritedAce(Byte[] securityDescriptor) 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.FixRegistryKey(String keyName) 2010-08-26 10:14:46 Slp:    en Microsoft.SqlServer.Configuration.FixSqlRegistryKey.Program.FixRegistryKeyAndSubKeys(RegistryKey key) I have created the "ConnecTo" key, which didn't even exist. I have also tried to set premissions to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer to "Everyone/Full Control" but the installation fails over and over. Is there anything else I could try to get the SQL tools installed? Thanks in advance.

Problem connecting to SQL Server 2008 R2 Express from Access 2007

I have a problem with SQL Server 2008 R2 Express with MS Access 2007. I am running Windows 7 with 8 gigs memory. I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Express. Do I now need to install SP1 because I am running with Windows 7? I can open SQL Server using the Management Screen but I cannot connect to MS Access 2007 using SQL Server Express as the database. When trying to connect to SQL Server from Access 2007, I keep getting the message that SQL Server 2005 cannot be found. It will not allow me to sign onto sql server 2008 stating that it cannot be found. Do I have to now run the SQL Server 2008 R2 Express SP1? Is there an upgrade to MS Access 2007 which will allow me to use SQL Server 2008 R2 Express?
