How can I disable the LWin and RWin keyboard keys?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
I would like to modify my application to prevent the user from launching the start menu while my application is running.  Is there a logical, simple, sensible means of doing this from a Windows Form?  My application is built in Visual Studio 2005 using the C# language.  Thanks for any assistance you can offer on this matter.

disable browser keys & menu functions

I ran across a few links on making an asp.net app fullscreen with javascript.    But I'd also like to keep users withing my app unless they log out.    How do you disable ctrl-esc, ctrl-c, window, selection & right mouse click?    Are there any other keys you can use to prevent a user from either copying data from a browser window or closing it?     That would also mean eliminating or suppressing the upper right hand minimize & close buttons in browser windows and the file menu.     If the code is specific to internet explorer then I'd also have to check whether their browsing from a firefox browser, unless the code would be the same for both.

Surrogate vs Natural Primary Keys - Data Modeling Mistake 2 of 10

In case you're new to the series I've compiled a list of ten data modeling mistakes that I see over and over that I'm tackling one by one. I'll be speaking about these topics at the upcoming IASA conference in October, so I'm hoping to generate some discussion to at least confirm I have well founded arguments.

The last post in this series Referential Integrity was probably less controversial than this one. After all, who can argue against enforcing referential integrity? But as obvious as surrogate keys may be to some, there is a good deal of diversity of opinion as evidenced by the fact that people continue to not use them.

Visual Studio Shortcut Keys

The following tables describe the shortcut keys in the Microsoft Dynamics AX Debugger.

PDA Keyboard v1.0 Light Edition - Full Screen Keyboard

The default keypad on Windows Mobile is not at all finger friendly, there is no way you can use it with your fingers. I have trouble using the stylus with it too. But there are many freeware option available to make the SIP ( Software Input Panel - check the Glossary ) finger friendly. Some of these are HTC Diamond keyboard, Blimkeys, PocketCM Keyboard and then now we have PDA Keyboard v1.0 Light Edition from pdamedia.biz. When you hit the blue button it goes into fullscreen mode , then you can use both your hands for typing.

Keyboard shortcuts stops working in WebMatrix

I'm often experiencing that keyboard shortcuts stops working in WebMatrix. This is very annoying as CTRL-S, CTRL-C, CTRL-V, etc. stops working, all of which are heavily used when programming. It's obviously hard to explain how to reproduce this, but I was wondering if someone knows a quick-fix?

Use Membership but bypass / disable password usage for users

I have an application that does LDAP authentication. The authentication is done on the code behind page of my Login.aspx page. Once the user passes LDAP authentication, a cookie is set and I redirect:

FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, False)

I would like to setup membership in my application and keep track of some user information. But due to company security requirements, I cannot store user passwords on my application. That must stay on the LDAP server only.

Is there a way to store users but disable password storage on the aspnet_membership table?

Mobility: Add Keyboard Support to Compact Framework Apps by Trapping Windows Messages

The Compact Framework Control class doesn't provide direct access to Windows messages. However, with P/Invoke, a few lines of native code, and the Compact Framework MessageWindow class, it's still possible to access underlying Windows messages. This can be used to work around any .NET Framework features, including keyboard support, that are not included in the Compact Framework.
