TableAdapter wizard not giving me choice for tabular data, also ObjectDataSource config wizard not g

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me with this problem. First of all, I created my own stored procedure in SQL Server for my aspnetdb database which is :USE [C:\USERS\DAVE\DESKTOP\AUG 19 NEW ONE\APP_DATA\ASPNETDB.MDF] GO CREATE PROCEDURE [dbo].[aspnet_GetNotifications] ( @UserName nvarchar(256) ) AS SELECT UserName,UserNotification,UserNotificationDate FROM UserNotifications WHERE UserName=@UserNameSo, the procedure gets everything from the UserNotifications table, except the RecordID(primary key) which is not needed for display.Now I have set up my BLL and DAL, and everything is working fine, in my DAL, I have the tableadapter and it is called PersonalRecordEntries.xsd in which I have added queries to it using existing stored procedures. Such as :GetLastRecordEntryDate(@UserName) which returns one value which of course is the last record entry date.InsertRecord(@UserName,@TDEE,@BMI,@FTM) which does not return any values, it only inserts a record.AND LASTLYGetNotifications(@UserName) which is supposed to return UserName, UserNotification and UserNotificationDate ( I just realized I can also get rid of having to return UserName but whatever)Now problem #1 ( never had problem with other queries because they did not return more than one value) is that when I add the query to QueriesTableAdapter in design mode and use existing stored procedure, and go through all t

Modifying connection String in Web config using Install Wizard

Im trying to create a Web Deployment Project, the built in setup and deployment is very good in Visual Studio, i need to able to add an additional step in the setup to change the connection string in the Web config file. Ive seen a lot of articles on how to do this and in particular this http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/06/15/tip-trick-creating-packaged-asp-net-setup-programs-with-vs-2005.aspx#7162670 I am however stuck on the final part of this tutorial, im using the code Scott provided but have two errors,  heres part of my code where the errors are

using System.Configuration;
using System.Configuration.Install;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Diagnostics;
using System.IO;
using System.DirectoryServices;

 void ConfigureDatabase(string targetSite, string targetVDir, string connectionString)

Wizard Control textbox data is lost

I'm using a wizard contol with several textbox fields. I have two textbox fields disabled (textbox19 and textbox20)because I don't want the user to change the values that are calculated from the other textboxes (see javascript below). I do this with javascript on the clientside. My problem occurs when the user is in STEP2 and goes back to STEP1 the values in the disabled fields are gone. Is there a way to fix this? I would also like to perform a validation on textbox20 but I haven't been able to do that with the textbox disabled. How can I do validations on a field that is disabled? I've tried enabling the fields and using readonly = true but that doesn't work either. Any suggestions? // Client Side script to do calculations <script type="text/javascript">       function calculateSubTotal() {      var txt6 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox6.ClientID %>');     var txt12 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox12.ClientID %>');     var txt18 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox18.ClientID %>');     var txt14 = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox14.ClientID %>');     var txtSubTotal = document.getElementById('<%= TextBox19.Cl

Configuring ObjectDataSource not giving me option to select correct TableAdapter

So, I have 3 table adapters in my dataset, and trying to configure the objectDataSource will not give me the option to select the correct table adapter.I set up a temporary website to illustrate what I am talking about, along with pics, not much, just 4 pics.https://sites.google.com/site/configuringobjectdatasource/The first 2 pics are irrelevant but just in case anyone thinking I don't have it set up properly. The other table adapters are working fine, which I have gridviews being populated etc.Anyways, anyone have any idea why it will not give me the option to select aspnet_GetRecordDatesTableAdapter?

inserting data to Users Table in ASPNETDB from Create User Wizard

When a user starts a membership using the Create User wizard supplied by the aspnetdb profile service, I need to add a field to a table in aspnetdb and upon clicking the ContinueButtonClick insert some data.  The field I'll add is "SubscId".  My first question is what table is best for this - Users or Membership?

Secondly, what is the best way to insert new data for this scenario?  code behind?  markup?  Can someone provide basic syntax of insert code in code behind for this scenario?

How to config ObjectDataSource ? TableAdapter not in list

Going to start this thread over so that it makes more sense.

Anyways, my problem is that when trying to configure my ObjectDataSource in design mode, it only gives me 2 options and never gives me the option for the one I need. The other 2 work fine, but for some reason, this 3rd one will not show up in the list.

I have a webpage with pics illustrating how I have it setup and the problem ---------->  https://sites.google.com/site/configuringobjectdatasource/

And I have another webpage with pics illustrating steps I have taken to fix this problem but still nothing   ----->  https://sites.google.com/site/configodspart2/

Could someone tell me what is going on and why it will not show up in my list when I try to configure?

Stuck installing Sharepoint 2010 - Config Wizard saying Cannot connect to database master

Hi all

I have setup 2 servers in hyper-v.
SERVER-SHP = Sharepoint 2010
both running on windows server 2008 R2.
Both servers are joined to the same domain, have fixed ip addresses and can ping each other.

When I get to the part in Sharepoint 2010 setup where I'm runnng "Sharepoint Products Configuration Wizard" where I specify the database server and name and username and password I get the following error which I can't get past "Cannot connect to database master at SQL server at SERVER-SQL. The database might not exist, or the current user does not have permission to connect to it."

I have read the following link and followed it but the problem remains

I don't see where it is falling over as the username and password is the domain administrator one (have also tried the spAdmin) mentioned to setup in the above link. And it says at the notes at the top of the page that if the database (SharePoint_Co

Missing options on link data sources wizard

First of all I have 2 lists ListA and ListB, ListB is linked to ListA by its ID column and not by a lookup field.

Now, on SPD2007 I just display the data sources library, and choose the create new linked sources option, but in the 2010 version, can't seem to find this option directly, just when I'm using  or have inserted a data source of some sort.

The problem is that when I get to the wizard ( link data sources wizard) I choose both lists, choose to join them, and... that's it!!!! I don't get to choose the filter columns or anything, the only options are 'Back' and 'Finish', so needless to say that I don't get what I want, 'cause it only appears the word 'row' on the child list in the sources library.

I've been serching the web, and some people have posted this same question with no answers found. then I searched this forum, and couldn't find this topic either, so maybe it's just some especific behavior regarding bad installation or something, or its just a Beta problem. please let me know

Let's Finish This

Import and Export Data (32-bit) Wizard to Dump Data to Excel

I am trying to export some data from a simple three-column table on my SQL 2008 R2 instance to Excel 2007 (also happens in Excel 2003). Our data has a lot of foreign (Hebrew) characters on it and although the copy works ok, the data as it appears in Excel is gibberish.

The source table in SQL contains three columns:

  • smallint - numbers
  • varchar(30) - hebrew text
  • varchar(50) - hebrew text
  • varchar(15) - hebrew text

When I fire up the Import-Export wizard I see the following: http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/1830/sqltable.png. When I click on the yellow warning for a conversion problem, I see this: http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/4255/conversion.png.

Do I need to modify the core SQL or change the data type? I already tried modifying the destination datatype to be varchar instead of LongText but that didn't help.

Any assistance would be fantastic!

TableAdapter Configuration Wizard

I have a simple table with a primary key in sql 2005 db.  If I use the TableAdapter Configuration Wizard in VS2010 to Create New Stored Procedures, it offers by default to generate Insert, Update and Delete stored procedures.  I supply the simplest of sql statements for the wizard to generate the rest of the code

SELECT     field1, field2
FROM         table1

SELECT     *
FROM         table1

And the wizard only generates code for Insert and Select procedures.  The connection is performed with an admin account and I cannot find a reason why the Update and Delete procedures are not generated.

Choose a Data Source Type Wizard is blank

For some reason, I cannot choose a data source type. I tried rebooting the computer and same issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Import Wizard fails because it is scared of potential data loss

I have a monthly reporting process that requires that I pull data from one system (System A) and load it into SQL Server (System B), the system I'm pulling from generates a .CSV file.  I have a table already built in SQL server to load the data in to with the exact same column names as the .CSV and the datatypes match those that are in System A.

However when trying to load the .CSV via the import wizard it fails because it thinks there is the potential for data loss.  Is there a way to override this overbearing tendency? Because the datatypes match there should be no way that data is lost.

Data Source Configuration Wizard not showing in VS2008 web applications

 When I use VS2008 to create a new form application, I am able to go to the Data menu select "Show Data Sources" then the "Data Sources" window appears. Then I am able to "Add New Data Source" and so on.

But when I create a new Web Application. I can not do that.

Am I not able to create a Data Source on web applications???

SSAS Deployment Wizard - Data Source connection string userid and Password getting removed

I have an SSAS database (Analysis Services 2005) which connects to Oracle for the data. I have the userid and password
saved in the connection string.

If I deploy the cube from Visual Studio I DON't have to manually edit the Data Source in the server to input the userid and password. The information is retained.

If I do a build and then deploy .asdatabase file using Deployment Wizard (Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Deployment.exe), the connection information dissappears. I have "Remove Passwords" = False in Project configuration. So when you build the project there will be a file with extension .assecurityinformation which holds the encrypted security info. Somehow

deployment wizard doesn't look at this file.

After the build I execute this command

Microsoft.AnalysisServices.Deployment.exe  .\Project.asdatabase /s:.\Deployment.log

I tried interactively and silent mode. Either way I cannot deploy the project with the userid and password in it.

Any clue?

SharePoint 2007 can't successfully run the config wizard

I keep trying to setup 207 on my new vm.

When I run the config wizard (as local admin or domain acct with admin rights) I get an error that says "Configuration Failed".  If I go into sql management studio, I see SharePoint_config.  In my event viewer, I see the following:
