Redirect to Security Questions if Site accessed from unrecognized computer?

I'm fairly new to ASP.NET and i'm using the Membership Provider.  I have the need to do similar to some banking sites. Baically I need to track "authorized" computers/ip's for a user.  If the user accesses the site form a recognized Computer/IP then the user is allowed into the app after successful login.  If the computer/IP is not recognized I need to redirect them to a screen to answer the security question setup in fhte Membership Provider.

Has anyone done anything like this or can anyone point me to any examples?  I did a search, but can't seem to find anything.

My idea is to maintain a list of authorized computers/IP addresses and check them on initial login.  If the IP address isn't found I can redirect them to the questions.  My concern is that they are then actually authenticated and could enter any of the site URL's as an authenticated user.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Response.Redirect problem in Google Chrome

I'm building an ASP.NET 3.5 webapplication using VB.NET, and I'm having problems redirecting to another URL when using Google Chrome. Other browsers like IE and Firefox are fine.My data entry forms all have an OK and an Cancel button, which are both handled server-side. The Cancel button just redirects back to the originating page, while the OK button will add or update a database record and then redirect to the originating page.The redirect to the originating page is done by calling the following shared sub on a general utilities class in my appication: Shared Sub Redirect(ByVal p_sURL As String) Dim l_sURL As String = p_sURL.ToLower If Left(l_sURL, 1) = "~" Then Dim l_oControl As New System.Web.UI.Control l_sURL = l_oControl.ResolveUrl(l_sURL) End If If Left(l_sURL, 1) <> "/" Then If Left(l_sURL, 7) <> "http://" AndAlso Left(l_sURL, 8) <> "https://" Then l_sURL = HttpContext.Current.Request.Url.GetLeftPart(UriPartial.Authority) & wsUtils.SiteRoot & l_sURL End If End If HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect(l_sURL) 'HttpContext.Current.Response.Redirect(l_sURL, False) End Sub As you can see, I've tried using the extra argument in the Response.Redirect call, but that

Google Checkout Notification Page Not called

Hi All, I am implementing Google checkout in asp.net website. I done with all the checkout stuff. But I stuck in Notification page handler. My Notification aspx page is not get called. Response.Redirect cannot be called in a page callback error message.

Hi.  I'm using the Dundas Chart Controls in VS 2005.  These controls are built utilizing AJAX.  I have a basic page with a dundas chart control containing a funnel chart.  The funnel contains Quotes, Sales Orders and Invoices.  When the user clicks on the control, I want to determine whether they clicked on Quotes, Sales Orders or Invoices and transfer to the appropriate Details Page.  I've got the code working to determine which transaction type they clicked on; but, I get the "Response.Redirect cannot be called in a page callback." error when the page tries to redirect.  Note: I get a similar issue if I try server.transfer.

 Here's my code:

Dim hitTestResult As Dundas.Charting.WebControl.HitTestResult = Chart1.HitTest(e.X, e.Y)

            If Not (hitTestResult Is Nothing) Then

                Dim clicked As Dundas.Charting.WebControl.DataPoint = hitTestResult.Series.Points(hitTestResult.PointIndex)

                Select Case hitTestResult.PointIndex
                    Case 0

response.redirect cannot be called in a callback call

And I really need to.. anyone can tell me the reason why? The problem is that in the callback I call some session variables and if the session has expired, instead of throwing an exception, I want to redirect the user to the login page.

Any idea will be awesome!!

Invalid postback or callback argument in Web Site Administration Tool

I get the following when I try to manage access rules in the ASP.NET Web Site Administration Tool.  Does anybody have idea why this might be anf how to fix?

An error was encountered. Please return to the previous page and try again.

The following message may help in diagnosing the problem: Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using in configuration or in a page. Not redirect to the original page in cross site authentication

We have multiple web applications(in one machine), we want all those  web applications to be authenticated by a single login page, that is, after logging in, you can visit any page in all those web applications. The login page is placed in a dedicated web application called Membership. The following is the config of the Membership web app.

    <add name="MyMembershipConnString" connectionString="server=.;database=aspnetdb;trusted_connection=true" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"/>

<membership defaultProvider="MyMembershipProvider">
        <add name="MyMembershipProvider" type="System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider"
        connectionStringName="MyMembershipConnString" enablePasswordRetrieval="false"
        enablePasswordReset="true" requiresQuestionAndAnswer="true" applicationName="MyMembership"

Changing the graphics on the home page of a SharePoint site

When you create a site in Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services by using the default Team Site template, the home page includes two default graphics. A Windows SharePoint Services graphic appears in the body of the page, and a picture of a house in a circle appears near the site title. You can change these graphics to customize your site. Changing the smaller graphic requires a Windows SharePoint Services compatible Web page editor

Take a tour of your SharePoint site

What is a SharePoint site for?
A SharePoint site is a Web site that provides a central storage and collaboration space for documents, information, and ideas. A SharePoint site is a tool for collaboration, just like a telephone is a tool for communication, or a meeting is a tool for decision making. A SharePoint site helps groups of people (whether work teams or social groups) share information and work together. For example, a SharePoint site can help you:

Coordinate projects, calendars, and schedules.
Discuss ideas and review documents or proposals.
Share information and keep in touch with other people.

Six easy ways to customize your site using Web Parts in SharePoint

Becoming familiar with Web Part customization techniques gives you a range of page-customization choices. For example, you can customize your site's home page so that it displays the specific information that your team needs. You can rearrange the list items on the home page, add lists, and even change the images on the home page. As you become more familiar with Web Part Page customization techniques, you can build interactive Web Part Pages that makes the data in lists more dynamic and useful, and you can add new Web Parts that provide access to external data and Web services.

Tips to Improve Your ASP.NET Web site performance

ASP.NET has been developed with lots of features which makes developer life easy. Start from ViewState, PostBack, Server Controls , User Controls and etc. All of them can make your web development experience fun and easy, but improper use of them can cause your site performance slowdown. Most of the controls generate overhead to the client and server. Therefore in this article, I I will list out about things you can do and don't to improve your ASP.NET website performance.

5 GridView Themes Based on Google's Personalized Homepage (igoogle)

One of the silly features I have found that I like about igoogle is how the pages color palette changes depending upon the time of day. So as the day progresses from morning to afternoon to evening the colors on the page change as well. Like I said, I know this is a silly feature, but I like it. And I have asked around a little bit and seems like other people like it to. To get a better idea of how the colors change, here are the background images from a few of the HTML elements.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.
