Call other controller without redirect

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,my application has a main controller which gets some requests that should be filtered first. This main controller decides which other controller should handle the request.The redirection is usually possible with RedirectToAction(..). But using this method causes a round trip and changes the original called url. This behaviour is not wanted. The url should be left as it was in the origin request.Is this possible? If yes - how?If i instanciate a controller myself (simple call of new MyConstructor()) and call the wanted action then this controller runs in the wrong context and the views won't be found.thanks for help.(MVC or MVC 2 RC2)

MVC controller shows a webservice internal call

I have a mvc controller that communicates with a we service for user authentication, when user clicks login button, onclick event makes a call to javascript function using ajax and it makes a call to an action in server.

The problem is when a use fiddler tool shows ajax call to the controller and also web service call, web service is called from controller never javascrit, how I can protect visibility of web service calling?, using web forms with the same scenario never shows a web service call.

How to make a MVC controller redirect to a web form page?

I am asked to build a MVC page on top of a existing web form site. I need to let the controller return a web form page instead of a view page. Is there any way I could achieve this?

response.redirect cannot be called in a callback call

And I really need to.. anyone can tell me the reason why? The problem is that in the callback I call some session variables and if the session has expired, instead of throwing an exception, I want to redirect the user to the login page.

Any idea will be awesome!!

Thanks

JQuery getJSON call to MVC Controller not returning data

This is probably something simple. The following JQuery call is executing can calling the controller and the controller is executing correctly. I used the sample data that's commented out to verify that the templates were working also.

However, the success function is not executing in the browser. Any thoughts or other ways I can debug this?

<script type="text/javascript">
$(document).ready(
function(){
alert("Here");
@* var myData = [ {first: "Jane", last: "Doe"}, {first: "John", last: "Doe"} ]; *@
$.getJSON(
"/User/Filter",
function(myData)
{

call JavaScript - jQuery code from ASP.NET Server-Side

jQuery got so close to me lately that I can see myself adding the scripts to my project almost unconsciously. The thing is, jQuery is very useful for me, in almost all situations and it has been a do or die enhancement for all my project since I first put my hands on it.

Of course while using it, you encounter few situations which need a bit of research to solve, mostly when you are trying to combine it with some other technologies like: UpdatePanels and ASP.NET Ajax. For instance there are many situations when I would like to run some jQuery magic based on some decision that I make on the server side.

Using jQuery to directly call ASP.NET AJAX page methods

Model View Controller (MVC) for ASP.NET

Model View Controller (MVC) architectures, immediately wonder how the MVC pattern can be applied in an ASP.NET world. This article will demonstrate how the MVC pattern can be applied to an ASP.NET web application and still maintain the basic Microsoft supplied architecture.

Response.Redirect slow

I'm in the middle of migrating servers and on the new server Response.Redirect is extremely slow. It takes around 20 seconds for the browser to get the redirect. This is something that was quick on the existing server. It's an ASP.NET 2.0 application, both servers are running IIS6.

Additionally, if I "manually" do the redirect, it's fast. For example:

Existing way:

Response.Redirect(url);

takes around 20 seconds on the new server

New way:

Response.Status = "302 Moved Temporarily";
Response.AddHeader("Location", url);
Response.End();

is fast on the new server.

Any ideas why Response.Redirect would be so slow on the new server?

Automatically redirect to HTTPS and check if SSL is active

Hello,

I've set in the web.config:

    <!-- User Authentication -->
    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms loginUrl="~/Page/View/Content/Login.aspx" timeout="2880" requireSSL="true" />
    </authentication>

This works fine. If there is no ssl connection, the login form doesn't continue. But I would like to check if ssl is active (in codebehind) and, if it's possible, to automatically the user to the https page if he's currently on http. (I could do this job by manually redirect with page.response("https://url.../login.aspx"); but this is not really generic. For example if the webapp is moved to another domain it doesn't work anymore... I'm looking for something like: FormsAuthentication.RedirectWithSSL(); or so... :D)

Profile not being save after redirect.

Hello,

I am trying to save values into a Profile on Page1, then redirect to Page2 and access those values.  However, after the page redirects the profile values are blank as if they were never saved.   When stepping through the code I can see that they are being save on Page 1.

I suppose I could use session variables to store the information but I don't understand why saving the profile doesn't work.

//Page1
private void PayWithPayPal()
    {
        ProfileCommon profile = this.Profile;

        if (Global.CurrentUserName.Length > 0)
            profile = this.Profile.GetProfile(Global.CurrentUserName);

        profile.FirstName = uxFirstNameShipping.Text;
        profile.LastName = uxLastNameBilling.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineOne = uxAddressLineOneShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.AddressLineTwo = uxAddressLineTwoShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.City = uxCityShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.State = uxStateShipping.Text;
        profile.ShippingAddress.ZipCode = uxPostalCodeShipping.Text;

        profile.Save();

        Response.Redirect("~/expresspayment.aspx", false);
    }

//Page2
protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)
    {

Redirect to a mobile page

Hi please can anyone help? I have a simple website with a home page called defaut.aspx, also I have a page with in this site called mobile.aspx. My question is, bearing in mind that I posses very little knowledge of VB, what code do I need to place in the default.aspx to detect what kind of device someone is using and redirect them to the mobile page (mobile.aspx)? This needs to be quite up-to-date preferably for blackberry and nokia devices?

Thanks

Detecting PPC device on startup page to redirect?

I was wondering (since a search didn't find any posts) if there is a way for my startup page to detect what kind of device (PocketPC or web browser specifically) is loading the page and if it is a PocketPC, then redirect to the mobile pages? I will only be using PocketPC's exclusively as a mobile device.

Thanks for any suggestions!
