SharePoint 2010 Development and Test Environment

I've seen statements to the effect that one can develop for SharePoint 2010 on Vista or Windows 7. Could someone please clarify this for me?

If I have Windows 7 64-bit edition and enough memory, can I load SharePoint 2010, the whole nine yards, along with SQL Server 2008, SPD and Visual Studio, and have it run in a meaningful way for a lab environment? Do I need a lab domain and a lab domain controller?

Can I do the same with Windows 7 and Windows Virtual PC, running SharePoint as a VPC image? In that case, which guest operating system would be preferred, Widows 7 or Windows Server 2008?

If I use Windows 7 as the host in a non-virtual environment, what do I lose over doing the same thing but with Windows Server 2008 as the base operating system?

Sharepoint 2010 environment check

Hi all, I heard from a guy at the office today that there is some command that you can execute in Sharepoint Powershell that will show you results of everything in your environment that is not correct to configure the farm. Does anyone know of this and where I can get more info on this? I searched around but could only find links to upgrades and see if everything is in place but in my case this is a clean install. Also, I am not talking about pre-reqs that needs to be installed. I did the check before installation and everything downloaded and installed correctly. I am after something that can show me where needs permissions and if the versions taht was installed is the correct ones. I am struggling for 3days now where my configuration db's fails at step three after a couple of reads and writes to the db. I need help. Thanks,

Configuring SharePoint Foundation 2010 with ADFS 2.0 in a multi-tenant environment using subscripti

Hi, I am trying to configure SharePointFoundation 2010 and ADFS 2.0 in a multi-tenant environment, where I have one Web Application and two site collections, each one under one subscription.  At this point is still a very simple infrastructure with one single Domain, AD and ADFS.  My problem starts with the configuration of ADFS 2.0 as Identity Provider in SharePoint. Since I have only one web application, the directory for the incoming token is "_trust" is placed at the root level or the application. Is there a way to change the location where this directory is created, so I can have one distinct one for each one of my site collections ? Or in other words, is there a way to have on identity provider by site collection ?  Thank in you advance for any information on this.   --MD.
