Sharepoint slide library adding functionality.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

The slide library in Sharepoint allows you to upload Powerpoint slides to it, then to copy a slide to a new presentation and edit it, or check it out so you can edit it and check back in the changes. Unfortunately the ability to check out multiple slides at once to edit is not possible, only the ability to copy them to a new presentation, so you lose all data stored with them.  I am trying to find a way to be able to check out multiple slides at once, then be able to check them in when you have made changes.   My questions are basically:  Can I add a button to the Sharepoint slide library interface? How can I interact with the client machine in terms of opening Powerpoint and getting them to be able to check out the slides? I have the Sharepoint VSTO tools installed and this must be for Sharepoint 2007. Thanks

Internet Exporer Crashes when viewing a SharePoint 2010 Slide library

I have 3 environments  (Test, Development & Production) in which this issue happens on all. Whether i create a new blank or use and existing Slide library; upload more than one Powerpoint slide in the library and i put my mouse cursor on any place other than the ribbon interface, Internet explorer jams and stops working. IE restarts itself and brings you back to the library but then does the same thing if you put your cursor anywhere in the sharepoint view. We had tested using IE without addons and it worked correctly. We then ran internete explorer and disabled all addons one by one until all were disabled and the issue was still occurring. We had changed a number of settings and found that disabling "active scripting" in the IE settings also made the issue dissapear. The issue is that we want active scripting and all add ons to work aswell.  We also updated Silverlight  from 4 with a build of 3.0.4 from the Microsoft Website.   (Internet Explroer 8 is the version running on Windows 7 Enterprise edition) The issue IE creates in the application log:  Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keyword: Classic Faulting application name: IEXPLORE.EXE, version: 8.0.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bc69e Faulting module name: mshtml.dll, version: 8.0.7600.16490, time stamp: 0x4b2c9557

Slide Library missing in SharePoint Foundation 2010

I am unable to create a slide library in SharePoint Foundation 2010. I read on the internet somewhere that Slide Library is available only on MOSS 2007. Is this true?

SharePoint Slide Library

I have created a SharePoint slide library and I have full rights to the site.  I have a Power Point presentation I am trying to upload.  However, when I try and upload the presentation, it states "Site is not excessible.  Either this location does not exist or you might not have permissions to use this network resource."  I am using Microsoft Office Professional Plus with service pack 2.

Is their anything else I can do to allow me to upload the presentation?  Note: Their are slide libraries with slides posted on our SharePoint site (SharePoint 2007).  Stands to reason the issue doesn't lie with the server by with something I may or may not be doing.

Adding Dynamic Rows in ASP.NET GridView Control with TextBoxes and with Delete functionality

In my previous examples, I have demonstrated on how to add dynamic rows in GridView control with TextBoxes and how to save the values into the database. Now, seems that most of the developers are asking if how to add a delete functionality with it. So in this example, I'm going to show on how to delete a certain row in the dynamic GridView with TextBoxes.

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Adding Search Refinements in SharePoint 2010

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.

Can I open the "new" menu in a SharePoint Document Library using Dragon NaturallySpeaking?

When a user, who uses Dragon NaturallySpeaking, says "new" when viewing a Document Library the default content type is selected and the associated application (e.g. Microsoft Word) is launched. This scenario is okay for Content Type selection since the Microsoft Office applications will prompt for the metadata once the file is saved.

If the user needs to create new folders in the Document Library however they need to expand the "new" dropdown menu.

What is the best way for someone using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to expand the "new" menu for a Document Library in SharePoint?

Issue with opening SharePoint library in Windows Explorer view
