Over the next couple of days I need to preform a sql server upgrade on our Dynamics server and normally this wouldn't be a problem but I am currently running 32 bit sql 2005 on the machine that I plan to install sql 2008 64 bit standard edition onto.
Can I do an "in place upgrade" over the existing installation? It is the default installation (MSSQLSERVER). I wasn't sure if this would be possible for me to do or not since I am doing the 32/64 bit jump.
Or do I need to uninstall sql 2005 from the machine entirely and then put on 2008?
I am hoping someone has been down this road before because I'm trying to plan out the quickest path to get this accomplished. Thanks in advance for any help!
