Hi, I have SQL Server 2008 R2 installed on Windows Server 2008 R2. The SQL Server is throwing the dumps on equal intervals. Current time is 12:11:10 09/08/10.                                                                               =====================================================================                                                   BugCheck Dump                                                                 &n

Date and Time Functions in SQLSERVER

Date and time functions allow you to manipulate columns and variables with DATETIME and SMALLDATETIME data types.

2 DATENAME Function

Data Types - Date and Time in SqlServer

Date and time values can be stored with either the DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME data type. The difference between the two is that SMALLDATETIME supports a smaller range of dates and does not give the same level of precision when accounting for time. The DATETIME data type can hold values from January 1st of 1753 to December 31st of 9999. The time is stored to the 1 three hundredths of a second and each value takes up 8 bytes of storage. The SMALLDATETIME data type can hold values between January 1st 1900 and June 6th of 2079. The time is tracked to the minute and each value takes up 4 bytes of storage. The majority of business applications can live happily with SMALLDATETIME, however, if you are in an environment where each second matters or you need to make estimates to the distant future (or past) then you have to resort to DATETIME. If you fail to specify the time when inserting a value into a DATETIME or SMALLDATETIME column, a default of midnight is used. If you fail to specify the date portion the default of January 1, 1900 is used.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

userprincipal.changepassword throws exception

Hi all,

      userprincipal.changepassword(oldpassword, newpassword);

gives error: that is Configuration information could not be read from the domain controller, either because the machine is unavailable, or access has been denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070547)

but userDirectoryEntry.invoke("ChangePassword", new object[] { oldpassword, newpassword });

      userDirectoryEntry.CommitChanges works fine.

Any one please tell me the reason behind this.

WebControls.TableRow throws exception on Add()

I have the following method to strip hidden and user-specified columns from a gridviewrow and return a tablerow.

    Private Shared Function StripHiddenColumns(ByVal gvRow As GridViewRow, ByVal ColumnsToExclude() As Integer) As TableRow

        Dim row As New TableRow
        Dim i As Integer = 0
            For Each cell As TableCell In gvRow.Cells
                If cell.Visible Then
                    If Not ColumnsToExclude.Contains(i) Then
                    End If
                End If
                i += 1

            Return row
        Catch ex As Exception
            Throw ex
        End Try
    End Function

However, when I run this code and hit the Add method for the TableRow,  I get an InvalidOperationException stating the Collection was modified; enumeration operation may not execute.  I've gotten this exception before, but usually it's because I'm attempting to modify a table that is databound.  This particular one is not, i am creating it.  Can anyone offer any insight?

Thanks in advance.

ScriptResource.axd throws ArgumentOutOfRangeException

I've done a lot of research on this error and I can't seem to figure it out:

Security trimmed URL throws an error if not logged in

On a Moss 2007 site, using FBA - I have an issue with security trimmed items within Lists.   There is not a problem with direct url links to non-list items.
For list items - here is the problem, when a user is not logged in and follows a direct url link from an email or newsletter to security trimmed items within a list - it throws an error instead of offering a redirect to login?

More info:  This is only occurring for individually security trimmed list items that have had anonymous access removed.  When a whole list or library has had anonymous removed, the links work fine (login page appears, log in, taken to original link).

Why is that and is there a way to avoid the error?

If it is of help, this is the error. Thanks in advance.

SPWorkflowManager.CancelWorkflow throws an exception

Sorry, I had posted that same question in the "Dev and Programming" forum, but I'm reposting here because it's more of a workflow related question.

We are trying to cancel workflow programmatically.

It used to work fine until we migrated our environment to a new server and now it fails.

Our code goes something like this:

foreach (SPWorkflow wf in form.Workflows)

//code omitted for brievety

But an ArgumentException is thrown.

Msdn docs say that an ArgumentNullException exception can be thrown (ArgumentNullException: The workflow to cancel belongs to an SPWeb object that has been deleted) but it is actually an ArgumentException that is thrown. Plus I know for sure that the SPWeb does not get deleted.

ssrs 2008 R2 - report parameter with no default set throws java script error

We have recently upgraded from SQL Server 2008 to SQL Server 2008 R2....I am experiencing a problem with my report parameters on my SSRS reports. It seems that my report parameters that I do not have a specified 'default' value throws a java script error when I try and run/render the report under R2.  As soon as I put a 'default' value on the report param, everything is fine.  However, that is not the behavior we need for our reports...the user needs to pick their selection. Can anyone shed some light on this, it seems to be an AJAX problem...I need to be able to have report parameters with a list of values, but no 'default' value on the parameter.

SQLServer 2008 Tools and SQL 2005 Cluster

I recently built a SQL Server 2005 cluster on the o/s Windows Server 2008 R2.  I have been attempting to connect to the cluster from my Windows 7 dekstop with my SQL Server 2008 Tool set.  I have been unable to attach to this cluster since its creation. The firewall is temp off, remote connections in the surface area configuration is set to pipes and tcp/ip and the Browser surface is up and running. I ran Wireshark against the cluster and I could see that there was UDP conversations for ms-sql-m (SQL Port) but that was as far as it would get.  I am using a named instance so not using 1433, but I do see the cluster offering up high RPC ports but the client never responds after the initial UDP response. When I noticed that there was a two way conversation taking place, I went to a seperate machine and fired up SQL Server 2005 Tools and I was easily able to attach to the cluster.  So my question is - Are there any known incompatibilities between SQL Server 2005 cluster services and SQL Server 2008 Tool set?  I can use my 2008 tools to attach to a non-clustered SQL Server 2005 w/o issue.   Error when attempting to connect: A network-related or instance-specific error occured while establishing a connection to sql server.  The server was not found or was not accessible.  Verify that the instance name is correct and the SQL Server is con

Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser' or one of its dependencies

I got this problem when I tried to migrate one of my web deployment project from vs2005 to vs2010 on windows 7 machine. The exactly error message is like this: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParser' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.(description) ASPNETCOMPILER(file), myWebDeploy (project) I have installed all of suggested feature packs as suggested by others: SQLServer2005_ADOMD_x64.msi, SQLServer2005_XMO_x64.msi. Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient, Version= -- Again it seems

Ok I created a project and installer, the project uses the SMO assemblies.  On my system and all my test seems it installs and works fine.  After installing on other system I am starting to get error reports because "Microsoft.SqlServer.BatchParserClient, Version=" is not installed on the system.  I have been doing some digging and found the below link but that only seems to help after the fact.  I need to include the correct assemblies in my installer.  Currently the package include the list below which does not include the problem file.  I tried installing SP3 on SQL 2005 but that does not seem to have helped.  What is the correct way of getting this assembly installed on the client server.  I am not happy with giving everyone the below link.http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=228de03f-3b5a-428a-923f-58a033d316e1 Packaging file 'Microsoft.ReportViewer.Common.dll'...
