Creating a Fixed-Length, Flat File, Space-Filled file

I need to create a Fixed-Length, Flat File, Space-Filled file. This is what I did:

1. Created a stored procedure with the fields using SPACE(#) so all the fields are the correct lenght.

2. Made a report.

3. Saved the report as Excel.

4. Save the Excel as 'Formatted Text Space Delimited'.

There are so many steps involved that I am wondering if there is a better way to create such a file.

Any help would be appreciated.

Insert spaces to get fixed length fields for flat file export

I have a query which extracts all the required data from a database and I need to load this data into a Text File. I am using a SSIS package to do this.

Now this file should have data in the format given below

437856785        A20101009This is construction         124728347

i.e the receiving file has no delimiters and each field is determined with a fixed length(fixed number of characters). The data I get out of my query for example for the first column returns just the value 437856785 and I need to append spaces to it to achieve the fixed length. I need to do to this kind of appending spaces to all the columns. Please suggest me ways to do this.

Thanks in advance..

How to Fixed GridViews Header and Footer when scrolling in asp.net?

This article is to show you how to Fix GridView''s Header and Footer in a simple code with CSS and JavaScript

Scrollable GridView with fixed headers in asp.net C# vb.net

In this example i am going to show how to create scrollable GridView with fixed headers which don''t get scrolled with records and stay on the top in asp.net using css, I''ve tested this code on IE7 and Firefox 2.0 , 3.5.

For this we need to add css to headers of gridview to keep them on the top.

First of all place a Panel on the aspx page from thetoolbox. Set height to 200px and width to 200px
and scrollbars to Vertical.
Now add a gridview inside this Panel and set the datasource to populate gridview.

Process.Start - arguments length restriction to 2080 characters

Hi, I'm wondering why is there a limit to "The sum of the length of the arguments and the length of the full path to the process " to 2080? I see that the documentation says that a Win32Exception is thrown if this exceeds 2080 characters. Can someone please explain to me this limit? I'm trying to start a process and I have a lot of arguments to pass, and of course ... I exceed the limit of 2080.   Thanks, Ionut.

Xml generating in fixed tag format

Hi All!   I have generated xml file from relational database now I want to display all the elements of one category in 1 category tag and I have several categories.   Regards, Mahavir Jadhav

height of fixed height div appears to vary depending on content

why would text content of a fixed height div with a background image push the background image down and make the div higher? In the following, without the "overflow:hidden;" the div draws with a height > 180px. And the background image starts lower vertically than it does when there is not <h1> text content or when overflow:hidden. Also, when I put a border around the div (  border: 1px solid black ), the background image snaps back up to the top, with the <h1> text overlaying it as I want it to. <div style="background-image:url('images/green city header.png');              background-repeat:no-repeat;       background-position:left bottom;        height: 180px;"><h1>efg</h1></div> The text content is not overflowing. And even if it did, why would overflow text increase the height of a container?Same behavior in IE8 and Chrome. thanks,

Convert Data from TXT file and face a length issue! Need help!

Hi All, I am trying to convert some TXT files in to sqlserver database by using SSIS.  The problem I am facing right now is that some TXT files I have are fixed with line length 286.  However, for the some other TXTs they have 296 characters per line. The reason why this happened is some one added one more field before generating those TXTs.  Instead of creating two SSIS packages for converting those TXTs, can I find another way to get around this?
