SSIS Package Execution Monitoring

How to monitor the execution of SSIS packages through Dtexec? I need to show Start Time, Status of each Task in package and estimated time to complete the execution while package is being executed.

SSIS Package returns the error - The command execution generated errors.

SSIS Package returns the error - 'The command execution generated errors'. Please let us know the cause for this error if anyone encountered this error before. Require a solution for this.   Thanks

remote execution of ssis package using wcf doesn't like date parameter

I have a ssis package remotely executed by a C# windows application that runs ok in context of SSIS installed on the desktop; I created a wcf windows service that the C# application executes, creates a copy of the package with the date in the variable, but errors on the first SQL task component that requires the date. The copy executes using the SSIS utility. What is possibly the issue with wcf and the date type in the SSIS package? Here is the error:

OnError,SRVR2BLADEA3,MIC\1347259,Clear CII ImportDate,{AB3CF5BA-C114-40F6-9ECB-4C7620D97829},{8B1C10CB-580F-4BFE-BC7D-0B97C181E307},9/27/2010 3:29:56 PM,9/27/2010 3:29:56 PM,-1073548784,0x,Executing the query "" failed with the following error: "The type initializer for '<Module>' threw an exception.". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.

Here is the code:

case @"E:\SSIS Packages\CIISCImport.dtsx":

//string dtValue = (prms[iPrms - 1].Split('=').GetValue(1).ToString()) + " 12:00";

vars["User::ImportDate"].Value = DateTim

SSIS Package execution

Server_A doesn't have SSIS installed. But Server_B have SSIS installed. Server_A and Server_B has Linked Server setup. I am able to retrieve Server_A data from Server_B. Can I create and run a package in Server_B which will pull data from Server_A and create a .csv file in a file server?

I appreciate any help and suggestions in advance.

Execution SSIS package in .NET: ADO NET Source with Expressions Problem

Hello Gurus!

We try to execute our SSIS packages from a .NET application. It works fine until we use “Expressions ” inside Data Flow’s components like “ADO NET Source” (e.g., for building SQL statements)

I use the ADO NET Source Control and want to set the SqlCommand property with an expression holding a SQL statement.

When executing the SSIS package in Visual Studio (in debug mode) I get no problem, everything works fine. When executing the package from within my .NET application it crashes the app completely, only creating a generic Win32 Exception with no relevant information.

My steps:

1.       I created new SSIS package.

2.       Then added the Data Flow component.

3.       Inside Data Flow I added “ADO NET Source&

SSIS Package Execution

We have a SQL 2008 server without SSIS on it. What do we need to run an SSIS package with out installing SSIS? Thanks in advance for the help.

SSIS package execution forces a checkout!

I have just started working with SSIS and already stuck! My environment is:

- SQL Server 2005 SP3
- Visual Studio BIDS 2005
- Team Foundation Server (TFS) 2008 SP1

Problem: everytime I execute my package, the file get checked out of TFS!

Is there a reason for this? More importantly, how can I tell BIDS to check a package only if I actually want to edit it?

Buffer issue on one particular column in an SSIS package

I have an SSIS package with a) Sharepoint List Source, b) Data Conversion, c) OLE DB destination.

I had to use the data conversion component in order to change the string data from Unicode.

All fields come over fine except for a column that basically contains some HTML code.  It comes in as a 4000 character field, and I get this error even if I truncate the data in the conversion component.

Here's the error:

[SharePoint List Source [1]] Error: Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.DoesNotFitBufferException: The value is too large to fit in the column data area of the buffer.    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.PipelineBuffer.SetString(Int32 columnIndex, String value)    at Microsoft.Samples.SqlServer.SSIS.SharePointListAdapters.SharePointListSource.PrimeOutput(Int32 outputs, Int32[] outputIDs, PipelineBuffer[] buffers)    at Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.ManagedComponentHost.HostPrimeOutput(IDTSManagedComponentWrapper90 wrapper, Int32 outputs, Int32[] outputIDs, IDTSBuffer90[] buffers, IntPtr ppBufferWirePacket)

Here's what the data in field looks like:

<div class=ExternalClass27637224667E4692AA7B7B0B2059FBE0><div id="_Note_9023a1eb-e648-4fac-aaa6-b7b5e38a628f" class="mmt_noteItem"><div class=

SSIS Package Execution Failure in ASP.NET

Hi All,

I am new to ASP.NET and SSIS Package . I tried to execute a package. Package Execution is working well in my local server but it not working in web server. While trying to find the error, i got the following,

System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. ---> System.InvalidOperationException: Showing a modal dialog box or form when the application is not running in UserInteractive mode is not a valid operation. Specify the ServiceNotification or DefaultDesktopOnly style to display a notification from a service application.

It would be helpful if any one find a solution.

Thanks in advance.

Issue in SQL server agent job running SSIS package containing a batch script.

I have a package that I have created that runs locally and as package on the server that has a batch script with in it and it run correctly when manually run. But when I create a sql server agent job it runs the job but doesn't execute the package but returns with a successful run. I have setup a proxy account trying to run it with this. I have given the permission to the batch script to the file that the SQL service account. I have tried everything I can think of even setting the package creator to the same name as the service account in the package, and even doing a dtexec command from the SQL job. If I run the dtexec from a cmd prompt the package runs. Need help please thanks.

Execute Package Task password issue

I have a parent and child package. Both are stored on the file system and both are password protected. My problem is that when I call the child package from the parent using execute package task, I get prompted for the child package's password. Now the PackagePassword property of the Execute Package Task is supposed to take care of that. But for some reason the password stored in the Execute Package Task is not getting passed to the child package.  I've re-entered the PackPassword property several times, but it did not help.  I even tried loading the password from a config file, but that did not make any difference.  Can anyone help?

SSIS Package Transaction locks entire table

Hello, I have SSIS package that using transactions and working as expected. But this locks all the tables involved in the data flow that are get inserted/loaded. If I query those tables during package execution the query waits till SSIS releases the lock. But I can still query those tables using NOLOCK hint. Is this possible SSIS will lock only the rows that it insert/update/delete etc? So that other user can still use that table or another instance of same SSIS Package can load data into those tables? My Package: In the package level I have TransactionOption = Required. The Sequence (Data Flow is inside this sequence) TransactionOption = Supported. I had some issue in my package that I posted here: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/dfb5a8b9-d43c-452b-bb21-d6aea192fc97 and also resolved. Now I descovered this issue and trying to resolve. Thanks, Prabhat

Execute SSIS Package PART based on Some Condition

Hello, Is it possible to execute part of the Package based some condition? (Like If var1 = true, then execute this block). If Yes, what control flow I should use. Please advse. I will have a Package Variable and if that variable is True then some part should execute. REst all should execute every time the package is called. Like if I will have "2 Sequence Container" in my control flow, the first one should execute every time, but 2nd one only if the variable value = True. Thanks, Prabhat

SSIS Lookup Transformation Issue

I am having a strange issue, In my data flow i have a Lookup Transformaton which will match on key columns of the fact and is followed by a condetional split that would deside if it should insert (old db destination) or go to update (oledb command) or ignore if no change. I have packages running for the last 1 year with the same logic. But in the recent packages I am experiencing a problem.  example: Key columns for join are - type_no (varchar 16) with all numeric values except one record wihh ' '(space) in it  and type_cd (decimal(18,0)) with values(0,1,2,3,4,5) It worked fine when I test the package. After couple of day running in schedule I get integrity violation and huge file with failed records which are supposed to be blocked at the condetional split as they are already in the fact. When i add a data viewer what i found is for all the llokup columns its having nulls (no match found). Workaround that is working for me for now is - I select full cash and say ok in the lookup transofrmation and again open it and set it back to no cash. Then it starts working as expected. Did anyone come accross this kind of issue? is the some standard that I have to follow to make sure this doesnot happen again

SSIS package Scheduled Job Not Running

I'm not sure which way to research this issue.. I have an SSIS package that we can run just fine manually. But, when we put it into a scheduled job, it won't run. The package is on the same system as the SQL Server (2005), but it does call for updates from tables on another SQL Server (2000) on another domain (trusted). So, I'm thinking this might be a permissions / security issue, but not sure where to start... The package ProtectionLevel is "don't save sensitive", but that didn't help. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. jill
