The external column "CLIENT" (2639) has no mapping to the XML schema

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi, I am having validation errors when moving between test and production servers.  I have a package which is reading and XML file and loading the data into staging tables.  The XML source is configured to use a variable for the file name (which is getting populated through a foreach loop.  The default value points to a file that was on the production server when the package was created).  The XSD is stored on a network share.  This all looks fine in test.  When I deploy it to production there are no validation errors, but when I run it, I get errors about the first few columns in the schema complaining: "The external column "<Column Name>" (2639) has no mapping to the XML schema" If I open the package while pointing to the production server, I can double click the XML Source and clear the errors.  I can then redeploy it and the package will run without issue in production.  However, if I open it back up and the package is again pointing to the test server, these metadata errors come up again.  I have rebuilt this component and the XSD a dozen times, thinking that the component was corrupted, but nothing seems to help.  I even rebuilt the entire dataflow.  Any ideas on to make this transition from test to production more smooth?  Is there a more reliable way that I can configure t

Assigning External content type field column value using Client Object Model

I have a problem assinging External column value to ListItem object with client object model-based application I'm developing. To be precise, I am able to retrieve data related to external content type by reading external list created from this content type but I don't know how to properly use it to assign value to this field. By doing some research on my own I concluded that BDC ID column from external list is the way to go since it uniquely defines selected row from external list but that doesn't tell me much since I don't know what to do with it. Currently I ended up with partial solution - to assign plain string value of picker column but that makes this value visible only in "View Properties" option on Sharepoint and not in "Edit Properties" which pritty much makes sence since it isn't properly related to rest of the data in specific row. Does someone have a better solution for this?

Need to link multiple External Content List items to a single document metadata column

I have an external content list - for my purposes, the data isn't any fancier than a list of terms provided by a web service (read only - I don't need update/delete functionality). I want to be able to link any subset of those terms to a single document metadata column (in other words, I need it to work like a normal content list that is defined to allow multiple values in a column) but SharePoint doesn't let me do that on an ECL. I need the content list to be externally driven since more values are going to be added to an outside system over time, but I think it's possible that I may not need a full-fledged ECL list to make this work this way in SharePoint. Just to clarify: I don't need the metadata values in my documents to maintain a PERSISTENT link to the web service (if someone changes an underlying value in the web service DB, it doesn't need to be updated in the document table too). I just want SharePoint to offer up an updated set of source values from the web service if somebody goes in and edits the document metadata. Any ideas for how I can make this work?

How to add a new column to a lists schema

Hi I want to add a new column in the schema of the calendar in sharepoint. So everytime a user creates a new calendar then he can automatically get that column to be filled. I know we can first create a list and save it as a template but my client doesn't want to see two calendars in the list type which will create a confusion. So i m looking for a way to add a yes no column the the existing schema of the default event content type.... Any Suggestions......Much Appreciated..

Schema comparer mistake in table-valued function (Nullability in column definition)

Hello. In my database i have table valued function. In its definition nullability of column is not set directly. This column has a user-defined data type. So the question is: is this column nullable? As i can see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174979.aspx   When column nullability is not explicitly specified, column nullability follows the rules shown in the following table. Column data type Rule Alias data type The Database Engine uses the nullability that is specified when the data type was created. To determine the default nullability of the data type, use sp_help. It should be not null, as user defined type is declared as not null. SMO says, that column is not null, but schema compare says it is nullable. Who is wrong and why?

Adding SPListItem to a SPList with External Data Column

I used SharePoint 2010's BCS to create an external content type. I added a list column of the type "External Data" to a custom list. 1. When I add an Item through the SharePoint interface, the external data field is displayed correctly in the view. 2. I add the item using the following code:   SPListItem newItem = customList.Items.Add(); newItem["Title" ] = "Test" ; newItem["ExternalDataColumnTest" ] = "1111" ; newItem.Update();   Now, When i go to the list, i can see the new item, but the External Data Column is empty in the view. When I use the ECB action "View Item", i can see that the primary key of my external data type item was saved. When I use the ECB action "Edit Item", the external data column field is empty. When I compare the item I added with the one I added through code in the VS2010 debugger, they hold exactly the same value ("1111" in example above). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

One-To-One Client Certificate Mapping in Exchange Server 2010 WCF Configuration

Hi.I am having a java client which has proxy classes generated with jax-ws to use the exchange web services (exchange server 2010). This proxy only supports SOAP11.What I need is to configure exchange servers with CAS role to (additionally to the default authentication) map one certificate to one windows accout. Until now I: imported the servers certificate and enabled it (import-ExchangeCertificate -fileData ([Byte[]]$(get-content -path <certpath> -encoding byte -readCount 0)) -password:<security-string pwd> | enable-ExchangeCertificate -services IIS) created a client certificate mapping in IIS 7 and here is where I got stuck What do I have to change in the "...\V14\ClientAccess\exchweb\ews\web.config" to get this scenario work? The web.config file looks like this: <services> <service behaviorConfiguration="EWSServiceBehavior" name="Microsoft.Exchange.Services.Wcf.EWSService"> <endpoint address="" binding="customBinding" bindingConfiguration="EWSHttpsBinding" contract="Microsoft.Exchange.Services.Wcf.IEWSContract"> <endpoint address="wssecurity" binding="customBinding" bindingConfiguration="EWSWSSecurityBinding" contract="Microsoft.Exchange.Services.Wcf.IEWSContract"

What's the purpose of __sysP1 column in the client's database?

I have a SQL Server 2008 Publisher and SQL CE 3.5 subscriber and every so often the synchronization will fail giving me the error: A subscriber row failed to apply at the publisher. Review the error parameters and the conflict logging tables at the publisher to determine the reason the row failed to apply. [ Table name = <tableName>, Row guid = {F40FF701-4AF1-B011-92B1-CAE5B3335706} ] HRESULT 0x80004005 (28802) What I have found is that if I look at the record indicated above, the only difference from it and other records is that it has the value 0x01 for column __sysP1. I have looked for information on what that column means, but so far all I found is that it is a custom column. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Creating a Site Column that Looks up an External List causes error when saving site as a template.

I'm not sure what the best practice is here, but I'm having a major issue trying to save sites as templates and I think I narrowed it down as to what the issue is.

When I try to save a site as a template, it creates the solution package, but it doesn't activate it.  When I try to activate it manually, I get the following error:

Feature definition with Id e9431ed5-27b1-4c33-9eeb-81b4ace9d372 failed validation, file 'test1ListInstances\ElementsFields.xml', line 481, character 231: The 'SystemInstance' attribute is not allowed.

I opened up the solution package and looked at the ElementsFields.xml file.  I traced the line to this:

<Field Type="BusinessData" DisplayName="Acme People Name" Required="FALSE" EnforceUniqueValues="FALSE" Group="Custom Columns" ID="{55b3bbba-a7e3-4698-9946-648a6b726e9e}" SourceID="{026904fd-f2d0-4e57-a239-c6da838458fa}" StaticName="Acme_x0020_People_x0020_Name" Name="Acme_x0020_People_x0020_Name" SystemInstance="ACME" EntityNamespace="http://????????:28241" EntityName="People" BdcField="FullName" Profile="" HasActions="True" SecondaryFieldBdcNames="0" RelatedF

Programmatically Mapping Custom SharePoint Column on Non-browser Enabled InfoPath Form

I have an InfoPath form, which, due to control requirements, is not browser enabled. It is being programmatically added as a content type to SharePoint (MOSS 2007). All users have Office 2007 installed so they will be able to open the form. I also have a custom multi-line column in the SharePoint document library. I can manually publish the form and map the column to a field of the form, but I need to be able to do this programmatically.

We are currently deploying the forms by modifying the publish url in the xsf during install. We have tried to modify the site coulmn GUID in the template xsf during install without success.

Does anyone have any ideas as to how we can programmatically promote the InfoPath field so it is visible in SharePoint?
