Unable to translate Unicode character \uD8D6 at index 5 to specified code page.

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WCF

I' have the error "Unable to translate Unicode character \uD8D6 at index 5 to specified code page." when I call a remote service, using a method that uploads some data (basically data readed from WMI and from Win Registry on the client host) from the client to the server. The server is wsHttpBinding, hosted in IIS7 via an ASP.NET 4.0 Web Site (svc file). The client is an exe, compiled in .NET 3.5 I've tried to set "textEncoding="utf-16"" on the binding, either on server and on client, but still the same. I've no idea about a solution :( Any idea? Thanks

SSIS And Sybase Source OLEDB connectivity issue with code page for character set

Hi I am using SSIS 2008 to connect the Sybase Server version 15.0.3 64-bit. The default character set id used by this Sybase server is 4 (i.e. roman8). (http://manuals.sybase.com/onlinebooks/group-charc/chg0300e/charsets/@Generic__BookTextView/1706;pt=266) I had installed Sybase Client for Sybase OLEDB Driver (ASEOLEDB) to integrate this in OLEDB Source Editor. As per guidance from one of the past MSDN forum discussion, I tried setting property of AlwaysUseDefaultCodePage property to "FALSE"  (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqlintegrationservices/thread/f5af9328-e1fb-48d7-a85d-1d08bb7cf0e5/). However, I am still experiencing error message as follows:- ********************************************************* Error at Package2 [Connection manager "xxxxxx.xxxxxxx"]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR.  An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005. An OLE DB record is available.  Source: "ASEOLEDB"  Hresult: 0x80004005  Description: "[00000] [Native Code: 30061] [ASEOLEDB]Could not load code page for requested charset". This month we examine the Microsoft translation Web service and show you how you can incorporate translation services into your own Web application.

QueryEx (Search) results and Custom Page Index

Hi All,

I done a web part which allow the user to query the search.asmx. It return the result fine against which I apply some xslt. However I need a mean to create a Page index. I only return the result based on a range defined in the query.

I need somehow to obtain the number of result the search is returning in total against what I only want to display on the screen.

The only way I sort of figure to do that is by first make a search just to obtain the number of result it will return in total and then make a search defining a range.

Has someone done something similar?

Code inside page load is not executing.

  I am beginner to .Net development, so i am looking for a favour. Thanks a lot in advance!!!!!!! Question 1 :  protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e)    {        txtUserName.Text = "Focus";                txtUserName.Focus();            } I am unable to get focus to my textbox   Question 2 : I made javascript code for client side validation. function loginjs()        {            if(document.getElementById('txtUserName').value.length==0)            alert("UserName cannot be blank");            else if(document.getElementById('txtPassword').value.length==0)            alert("Password cannot be blank");                    } this code executes but it is not stopping further code execution. Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimized or a native frame is on top of the call

I have some code that gets the exception Unable to evaluate expression because the code is optimized or a native frame is on top of the call stack. I have pasted some code below. I have confirmed that I am in mixed mode debugging, (native and managed). I have also confirmed that I am not 'pre-compiline' b4 debugging. the code is for a 'csv' download. Can someone help? Response.Clear(); Response.ClearHeaders(); //set the conttent type of the file to be downloaded (IF NEEDED) Response.ContentType = "application/vnd.ms-excel"; // initialize the http content-disposition header to indicate a file attachment with the filename Response.AppendHeader("Content-Disposition", "Attachment; Filename=\"" + strFileNameCSV + "\""); //// transfer the file byte-by-byte to the response object FileInfo fileToDownload = new FileInfo(strFileNameCSV); Response.Flush(); Response.WriteFile(fileToDownload.FullName); Response.End();

Unable to Check In Publishing Page

I am running into an issue with a custom page layout that I have created.  On this page layout I have a publishing html field, publishing image field, and a publishing summary links field.  The problem is when I check-in the publishing page as a draft the content in the publishing HTML fields does NOT save and redirects me to the root page in that web. I then checked the SharePoint ULS logs and found the following error. Time: 09/03/2010 11:47:20:18 Process: w3wp.exe (0x1248) TID: 0x0C5C Area: CMS Category: Publishing Cache EventID: 98ee Level: High Description: Trying to store a checked out item (/EN-US/MEDICALPRODUCTS/PAGES/646.ASPX) in the object cache.  This may be because the checked out user is accessing the page, or it could be that the SharePoint system account has the item checked out.  To improve performance, you should set the portalsuperuseraccount property on the web application.  See the documentation for more information. I have tried to find more answers on the web but have been unsuccessful so far.  Has anybody seen this error before or got any possible ideas to try?  Thanks in advance for any help. Craig

Unable to enter the product key in the Convert License Type page (textbox is read-only)

We installed both WSS and MOSS SP2 and had planned to follow the manual fix for the known issue that the patch unexpectedly activates a trial expiration.  However, the textbox to enter the product key is read-only.  We have tried accessing this page using the normal administrator credentials as well as the farm account; no success.The SP2 issue and manual fix is detailed here, http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971620We were able to experience this problem on a farm running the Feb 2007 cummulative patch (version 12.0.0.6341.5002) so it's not related to the SP.  But running the SP increasing the need to find the fix.Any help is appreciated,J.
