How to customizing TextBlock "line breaking" algorithm in TextWrapping?

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :WPF
Hi all, is it possible to associate a custom line breaking algorithm to a TextBlock in order to choose when breaking line? For example I have a text like the following one "Building 1.Floor 1.Room 4" and I would like auto-breaking only on "dots" character or on long text. For example the following are good breaking for me: Building 1.Floor 1. Room 4 or Building 1. Floor 1...   Is a good idea using a Converter for achieving this? Thanks all, Marzio.

Customizing the UI around the Filters

I have started working on a new project and thought it would be a great idea to dig into the latest version of the Dynamic Data framework that shipped with VS2010.  For the most part, I am impressed, it seems to be pretty easy to extend and create a rich and flexibile UI -- at least that is what I thought until I got to working on a better layout for the filters.

The situation is this:

I have a table with 25 columns and I need to display around 10 different filters (basically and interactive report) -- the filters are of various types.

The problem:

How in the world do I custom the UI layout of the filters.  It seems that with the latest QueryFilterRepeater control we have been left with almost nothing to work with (outside of turning filters on/off and setting the FilterUIHint).  What if I wanted to wrap all of the filters in an expand/collapse region and then inside of that have then sitting in a table of no more than 4 columns (so with 10 filters I wold have 3 rows).

I have tried extending the QueryFilterRepeater but it seems like there is nothing in that class that we can work with (the data binding events are not even used).

Am I missing something, or am I just out of luck right now?

More Windows 2000 UI Goodies: Extending Explorer Views by Customizing Hypertext Template Files

The Web-style interface is the default Explorer folder view for the Desktop Update in Windows 2000. The Desktop Update uses HTML-based hypertext templates to create the Web view, and you can customize these templates to include your own views and commands. This article shows you how the Explorer Web view works and how to build your own custom templates for it. You'll see how to add a command prompt and task buttons to a new folder view using HTML, script, and ActiveX controls. The shell object model and thumbnail shell extensions are also examined, then used to build a simple icon viewer for Explorer.

Customizing the Converter for Json.NET

Many recently days, I thought about Json.net library that implemented by James. It is really a good library that I have ever used. I really impressed about many Converters that this library expose for user. I can list some converter of json.net at here:

+ BinaryConverter
+ BsonObjectIdConverter
+ DataSetConverter
+ DataTableConverter
+ EntityKeyMemberConverter
+ HtmlColorConverter
+ IsoDateTimeConverter
+ JavaScriptDateTimeConverter
+ KeyValuePairConverter
+ RegexConverter
+ StringEnumConverter
+ XmlNodeConverter

As you see, json.net have many converters, but still not enough for our necessary. So in this post, I try to explorer about 2 converters that I thought it is very useful for us. That are ArrayConverter and Object Converter (it is named by me). In 2 converter, I mainly implement it for return the object's interface, so it can be re-use and extension better. Now this is my code for implement it:
+ CustomObjectCreationConverter

I've an image that i want to use as a background to my window, the image contains picture and text, and i want to add a TextBlock above the image text, i've no problem doing it, but when i change my window size (press the maximize button) the space between the image and the textblock is not saved, what should i do in order to save my look&fell when the window resizes? i tried using DockPanel, and any other panel, but i guess i'm doing something wrong, so i will really appreciate an example.   Thanks a lot for helping, Gidi.

Textwrapping with buttons not working as expected

Guys and Gals, Got a bit of a problem with my application. I am trying to get the text and buttons in a groupbox to wrap when the page size changes (i.e. gets too small to fit it all on the page.) I have inserted the TextWrapping="Wrap" into the TextBlock line but it refuses to wrap. I have tried everything I can think of for this. Am I doing something wrong or is it impossible to do? If someone could point me in the correct direction it would be greatly appreciated. I don't want to use a scroll viewer either. <Window x:Class="Test.MainWindow" xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation" xmlns:x="http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml" Title="MainWindow" Width="Auto"> <StackPanel> <TextBlock >Load Data Mappings From File</TextBlock> <TextBlock TextWrapping="Wrap"> This task will truncate all existing data Maps and re-import from an excel spread sheet.<LineBreak/> </TextBlock> <GroupBox Header="File to Load" Name="groupBox1" Padding="10" Margin="10"> <StackPanel> <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal"> <TextBlock DockPanel.Dock="Left" VerticalAlignment="Center" Width=&qu

Customizing the Insert/Edit Forms

Hi, I need to have 2 tables show in one webform(one-to-one relationship). I have tried customizing the Insert webform from the PageTemplates(creating the entity folder under CustomPages and copying the Insert page from PageTemplates), but it shows a lot of duplicate errors, e.g. The type GRIPS.Insert already contains a definition for DynamicDatamanager1, ScriptManagerProxy, etc... Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks, CC
