Error installing RBS with the FILESTREAM provider

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I had intalled RBS on the web application according to this guids http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee748631.aspx. In rbs_install_log I can find the message "Product: SQL Remote Blob Storage -- Configuration completed successfully". But I get also the error in same logfile "A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections." In content Database no rbs tables have been created.  I try the command line with DBINSTANCE=<instancename> und DBINSTANCE=<servername\instancename>, but I get always the same error. Has anyone the same issue?

Installing & configuring Remote BLOB Storage (RBS) with the FILESTREAM provider (SharePoint Server 2

I really do not know the reason, how much ever i tried; I am NOT getting message in "rbs_install_log.txt" like; “Product: SQL Remote Blob Storage -- Installation completed successfully.”

I can see Several tables residing under the content database with names that are preceded by the letters "mssqlrbs".

In Object Explorer, right-clicking  <DatabaseServer>, and then clicking Properties; In the Server Properties dialog box, clicking Advanced, clearly shows that the FilestreamAccess Level is set to Full access enabled

Right-clicking  the content database name, and then clicking Properties,
when I check the Database Properties dialog box by clicking Filegroups,
I see that,  in the Filestream list, RBSFilestreamProvider appears. Even under Files, in the Database files list, RBSFilestreamFile appears

use [ContentDbName]

Installing & configuring Remote BLOB Storage (RBS) with the FILESTREAM provider (SharePoint Server 2

Based on many blog posts / articles on Remote BLOB Storage with FileStream Provider,  I could easily do for one Web-Application. It is working fine too. But my Issue is, I have 3 Web-Applications in turn 3 Content Databases. Out of three, anyway 1st one went smooth since I followed all the steps. For the next two Content Databases, I am facing Issues like; When I tried;

use [WSS_Content_Blob_ca4557eec6434e8e9a7920dfba1e9a2c]
alter database [WSS_Content_Blob_ca4557eec6434e8e9a7920dfba1e9a2c] add file (name = RBSFilestreamFile, filename = 'c:\Blobstore') to filegroup RBSFilestreamProvider

It is giving;

Msg 5520, Level 16, State 2, Line 1
FILESTREAM file 'RBSFilestreamFile' cannot be added because its destination filegroup cannot have more than one file.

If I try with another Folder for example; c:\Blobstore_2ndWebApp

use [WSS_Content_Blob_ca4557eec6434e8e9a7920dfba1e9a2c]
alter database [WSS_Content_Blob_ca4557eec6434e8e9a7920dfba1e9a2c] add file (name = RBSFilestreamFile, filename = 'c:\Blobstore_2ndWebApp') to filegroup RBSFilestreamProvider

I get Command(s) completed successfully.

But when I run below piece of code with my values;

msiexec /qn /i

error in installing portal starter kit

I tried to install portal starter kit (http://www.asp.net/downloads/archived-v11) , but I found error code (2869) in installing. Windows of my computer is VISTA.

User or role "id_token" does not exit in this database.

Error code 2869.

Provider Error

I have a web application and a business class library where all database connections are made. Not periodically but quite often, I get an error in the class library when i execute an oledbcommand. I have no problem defining and opening a connection but as soon as I try to execute a command or fill a table by an oledbadaptor, I get this error:

'SQLOLEDB' failed with no error message available, result code: E_FAIL(0x80004005)

After getting this error, when I reset IIS, everything starts to work perfectly but after a while, the same problem occurs again.

Does anyone have a clue about what might cause this problem?

Thanks in advance

ERROR [HY000] [Informix .NET provider][Informix]Database locale information mismatch

Custom Control Design-Time SiteMap Provider Error

Greetings - I was referred here by MSDN forums hope this is the right place -

I have a custom control (:WebControl) that renders web.sitemap in a specific way. While it runs error free and produces the expected result, at Design-Time it complains

Error Creating Control - MyControl The provider 'AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider' specified for the defaultProvider does not exist in the providers collection.

I have discovered that the error is cause by this line of code:

string div = string.Format("<div class='{0}' id='{1}'>{2}</div>", this.CssClass, this.ID.ToString(), EnumerateNodesRecursive(SiteMap.RootNode, level));

or more specifically, by the reference to SiteMap.RootNode - I am not clear what is missing thoough because I have configured the SiteMapProvider in web.config as this:

        <add name="AspNetXmlSiteMapProvider"
             type="System.Web.XmlSiteMapProvider, System.Web, Version=2.0.3600.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b03f5f7f11d50a3a"

Error installing SharePointRS (Reporting Services AddIn)

I trying to install the SharePointRS AddIn on the SharePoint-Maschine. The installation runs and after the setup does something, it rollback the installation and informs me with just a message, that it was not successful. After searching for the installation log, I've found it in my temp folder. The error was:
"Install error: The 'Mapping' start tag on line 83 does not match the end tag of 'ByExtension'. Line 139, position 7.".
What means this error? How can I solve it?

Greetings, Anatoli.

Server 2008 R2 -> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error mess

So I am using the aspnet_regiis.exe tool to encrypt sections of the web.config in my asp.net applications and services.  I have done this for years successfully on Windows Server 2003 (IIS 6).  However I just moved some apps over to Windows Server 2008 R2 (with IIS 7.5) and I am now receiving the following error at runtime:

"Server was unable to process request. ---> Failed to decrypt using provider 'RsaProtectedConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Bad Data."

Now I am quite familiar with this process and am stumped at what I have missed this time around.  I have done ALL of the following which typically suffices for the process on the server. PLEASE READ ALL AND DO NOT PROVIDE RESPONSES OR LINKS FOR THINGS I HAVE ALREADY DONE Thanks!!  Wink

  1. Imported the keys to the server using aspnet_regiis -pi  Result: Success
  2. Given FULL permission (using -full switch) using aspnet_regiis -pa to ALL of the following accounts  Result: Success
    1. Using Error Provider with TreeView?

      Can the standard error provider (icon) be used on Treeview nodes? I have one parent node with one child, I want to show the icon next to the parent only and remove the + and - images . Working with VB .NET, but can use a C# example. Thanks much!

Named Pipes provider error - backup script

I have a couple of installs of SQL Server 2005 Express.  One thing it doesn't provide is an agent to schedule jobs so I read where you can use Windows job scheduler to execute a batch job to in turn run a sqlcmd file.  I have that working on one server but on the other server I get the dreaded Name Pipes provider error and it goes on to talk about it may not be setup to allow remote connections.  If I check using Surface Configurator it is set to allow remote connections using both tcpip and named pipes.  To my knowledge all I want it tcpip but I enabled named pipes in an effort to get things working. About the only difference I can see is on the working system the database is a named instance (ie. Servername) versus default instance on the non-working system which shows up as (Servername\SQLEXPRESS).  Hopefully I have my terminology right here. Any tips on how to troubleshoot?  Does it depend on the username I am using?  Domain admin or local server admin or what have you? I should mention I can execute the backup script and it does work.  It is when I run the batch job that it fails. The batch job just says "sqlcmd -i d:\MSSQL_Jobs\backup.sql -o d:\Logs\sqlbackup_output.txt"

Restoring 2008 Database with Filestream - Process cannot access file error

I'm trying to restore a copy of a database that has a filestream and am getting the error below. I've tried with move option to specify a new path and left it with default path, neither worked. Did a trace with procmon, didn't see anything. FileStream1 is a new folder that the restore process creates. I've deleted the folder, tried it with a new name, re-took the backup from the source machine, restarted SQL, rebooted the machine, drive permissions are open. I've run out of ideas on how to debug further. Looking up the error online wasn't much help either.
