Workflow AND/OR Tasks - how can I create one that occurs/recurrs on a weekly basis.

Hi All, Any ideas how I could configure SharePoint 2010 to trigger a workflow for a site member that notifies them to perform  a specific task ? I have a timesheet template that I intend to create a content type from. the use case is that each site member needs to fill out a timesheet at the start of the week to indicate what work they will be doing for the week. Is it possible ( using customisation ) to create a workflow so that a site member is prompted to create a new timesheet at the start of everyweek ? Alternatively can a recurrent task be created instead ? i.e. on the monday of every week create a new task for each site member to "create new weekly timesheet" Thanks and regards, Counie

how do I create email reminders for multiple tasks with a secondary workflow?


I need some advice regarding a issue I picked up during the creation of a secondary workflow to be used for email reminders. I created the workflows in sharepoint designer 2007.

Current situation;

I have a complex primary workflow that creates multiple tasks (about 9 tasks). Its important to note that these tasks get created in sequence. Therefore a task will only be created once the previous task has been completed (It's pretty much an approval workflow). Maybe I should also mention that I disabled the automatic task email notifications and replaced them with send email actions in my primary workflow (this should, however, not relate to my problem).

My Problem;

I created a secondary workflow to handle the email reminders. However, the email reminders only seem to work for the first task (task 1 ) created in the primary workflow. This is the steps I created;

1) First I checked that I'm going to send the reminders for the tasks created by the primary workflow, by verify the primary workflow name in a condition.

2) Once I verified the primary workflow I added the reminder time to the Created date of

I need to create multiple workflow tasks in a while cycle.

I have put the "createTask" activity inside the "whileActivity" and specified the cycle conditions

But obviously i get an error when tryng to create two tasks with the same name, id and properties.

Is there a way to do this?

How to create WSP or Package for workflow in Share Point 2007?



I am working on SharePoint 2007. I have created 2 List called "Config List" (this is a list) and "Vacation Form" (this is form library & form designed in infopath). I have also created a workflow on form library "Vacation Form" in Share Point Designer 2007.

With the use of this workflow I am creating some task and updating "Vacation Form".

Now I want to deploy these three thing (Config List, Vacation Form & workflow) on other server.

How do I create a package or WSP file to install these things on different server.

Using a workflow to create a user task

Hi, we have a inforpath form that our HR Team fill out when we have a new user join the company, the form once submitted will upload to a sharepoint forms library and also put and entry in a shared calendar that the HR , Facilities and Corp IT team have access to.

what i am trying to do though is get it to create a task in a task list on the same site using some of the fields on the form to populate fields in the task list. i have used Sharepopint desginer to create the workflow and when i test it the workflow status show completed but the task never shows in the task list on the site

any ideas would be greatfully recieved

I have found a couple of threads asking for advice on how to check in an InfoPath form when it’s saved or submitted to a forms library. The reason for doing this is so a workflow can start based on a new item being created in that library, and so it doesn’t just sit there with a “Starting” status.


The answers I have found contradict each other:

Errors when interacting with WorkFlow generated tasks through ISA Server


I have a MOSs environment that I have published through ISA Server 2006 and i am getting really strange behavior whentrying to interact with WorkLFow generated tasks when I have connected through ISA. This also seems to affect InfoPath Forms Services. I was wondering if anyone out there is seeing any problems when using ISA Server to interact wih Forms or WorkFlows?


The error I get simply states:

the form cannot be submitted to the web server either because your computer is offline or because the host server is currently unavailable.


Any help would be appreciated.





Can I create several steps to be run on a SharePoint list as a task to run on a daily basis?


We have a manual process that we do on a SharePoint list to export data from SharePoint to a spreadsheet that can then be used by non SharePoint programs.  I'd like to be able to automate this process so that it can be scheduled as a Task to run on a daily basis.   Not sure if a workflow can do what I'd like it to.  I have SharePoint Designer 2007 as well.

Here are the steps:

1. Load a particular View of a SharePoint List

2. From the view's Action menu, "Open with Access"

3. Save the resulting Access database as a file to a specific Folder on the computer hosting SharePoint

This would be run as a Task on the computer hosting SharePoint.

Hi Every body,I have Travel Request infopath form with 3 views(Requester/Manager/Traveldesk).Ones the user submitt the data then workflow will be start. In manager view he will select next level approver also. Ones manager approve/reject then pass to Traveldesk and they will forward travel inforamtion to user.I am new to workflow so How to approach my requirment any ideas and examples.Thanks in advance

SPD workflow status show "starting" when I create a document from the library !!. and hangs

I have a document library in MOSS 2007. Have created a WF and that starts "autmatically when new item created" In the document library I have created couple of column those are mandatory (required columns) and user has to fill those column while uploading a document as well creating a document from library. WF has ran and completed succefully  when I use "upload" option to load a document.  As you are aware, when we "upload" a document, we will have to fill all "required columns" and the click "check in" command button.  After I do all this, document get loaded and WD ran succesfully. However, the WF is not running when I create a document (.docx) from this library (using "new" button) !!.  I have filled all required field in the document information panel . After save & exit from WORD application, I can see WF status as "starting". But, it never started and completed.  So I did following and found WF worked !! a) After creating document (.docx) using "new" option I found WF status "starting"!. So,  I did "Check-out and Check-in" manually from document library. After doing this,  WF ran and status has been changed as "completed" b) In SPD, I change workflow start option from "Automatic" to "Manually start".&nb

hi, this is my senario: i have created a custom list in the "absence and vacation schedule" site template. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=56406562-01F9-4A18-9924-2DC0684232C8&displaylang=en   in the custom list i created i store the ID of all the approvers and the ID of all the users that can fill a request form. now i wanted to create a workflow between the custom list i created and the absence list that was already created. in the submit new absence form i added a field named user id. now what i want to do is that when a user fill in a form the workflow must compare the user his id in absence list with the user his id in the custom list i created and see witch approver is connected to that user id so it can send the request form only for that approver. i hope i was clear enough thnx

Using Workflow to create an InfoPath item in a Forms Library

Hi Experts: Here is my situation: I have a MOSS 2007 server with list A (regular sharepoint list) and List B (InfoPath form library with a published form) This is what I am trying to accomplish using SharePoint Designer: List A is just a basic list User changes a column in list A to a specific value A new form needs to be added to the forms library B SharePoint designer Workflow will not create a valid xml file in the List B forms library. It just creates an invalid file based on the .xsn file template. Does anyone have any experience creating a valid xml form in a forms library using SharePoint Designer workflow? I can't migrate to 2010 so that is not an option. Thanks for all your advise.

Workflow tasks viewable by most, but not all task owners.

I have a simple SharePoint Designer workflow that starts when a new list item is created.  The task owner is defined by a 'user/group' field selected from a sharepoint list.  Of 150+ users, only 4 are not able to see the tasks when assigned.  I have the task list set so they only see their own.  These 4 users do not see any tasks, where as everyone else does see only their own tasks.  To test, I changed the list settings to show all.  The users saw all tasks, but are not able to edit the tasks assigned to them. I feel the problem lies with how the workflow is assigning ownership of the task.  When I use the sharepoint task list to manually create a task for these 4 users, they can see and edit them, but when the workflow creates the task - they can't. Is there something special about how workflows assign task ownership based off Active Directory versus manually assigning tasks coming from the cached SharePoint profile?  (As a test I deleted the user from the All People list of the site, and manually added them back - no luck).Greg Appelt

How do I create an SPD workflow for all existing documents in doc lib?

Hi All, Could someone help me? I am newbie to sharepoint and workflow. I want to write a work flow library to send email to user bi annually. I have tried and not successful. My workflow doesn't applied to existing documents and it doesn't send mail to existing document owner and it stopped sending mail after one or two times. I am using sharepoint designer 2007. Here are work flow steps 1)      Workflow need to start automatically when attach to DL 2)      If there are some documents already in DL, this WF needs to be applied to all existing documents. 3)      When workflow starts, it will send email to document owner to review their existing documents or new document loaded 4)      Send reminder after one week if document owner doesn't review their document 5)      If user doesn't review the document (check out, check in) after 2 week, it will automatically check out and check in with document owner account 6)      After 6 months from that time, workflow will send email again to document owner to review 7)      Step 3 to 6 will loop.   Any suggestion?
