SharePoint 3.0 document libary imcoming email settings

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
I am having problems with a SharePoint site. I was able to create incoming emails on the site for a document library. The server was on an SAN solution and it got corrupted. The site was restored. I am able to create incoming email settings on the central admin page. The problem is when I go into the site I cannot create incoming email settings. The ones that were created before the server crashed works fiine. I cannot create any new ones. The question that I have is this a permission issue for the site ?

If you have SharePoint Document Versioning Enabled, do you also use the retention settings?

I am looking for stats on how many environments are out there using document versioning in there libraries but are perhaps not selecting the retention settings. (e.g. "Optionally limit the number of versions to retain" section) This as we all know in SharePoint is a major cause of database growth.

Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 - Document Library Settings with Reporting Services 2008 R2 in in

I have a client who has recently upgraded their SharePoint system to Windows Sharepoint Foundation 2010 with Reporting Services 2008 R2 in integrated mode. I have configured reporting services and am able to deploy reports to SharePoint. The client created a document library before the upgrade to WSF 2010. I need to add Report Builder 3.0 to the New Document menu and found the following article. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb326289.aspx "Allow management of content types?" is set to yes under the advanced document library settings. The problem is that when I try to "add from existing site content types" the reporting services content types are not in the list. I appreciate any help you can give me.

SharePoint Document Libraries not receiving email

I am having an issue with my document libraries receiving incoming emails.  Talking to our Exchange guy, the emails make it through Exchange and appear to be delivered.  I can see the email going into the drop folder in the mailroot.  It leaves the folder, but is never delivered to the document library.  Does anyone know what my next step should be?

Let me know if you need more info.  I'm at a loss.

Sending Email alerts before expire date on document (using Sharepoint Designer)

I need to trigger an email alert 2 weeks before the expire date on document (document library).

The document library has a List/Site Column for an Expiry date.

I need to clarify the following:

I assume it is possible to create a CALCULATED field (Alert Date) of DATE (assigned to List/Site Column) that would

have a formula of: Expiry date - 14 days.

Is it possible to trigger a workflow (created in Sharepoint Designer) AFTER the Alert + Expiry dates have been set

and ONLY if the Alert Date  = Todays Date?

Is it possible to add a variable in the workflow of type DATE that MAPPED to the current item 'UPLOADED' to the

Document Library and was calculated against the number of days to be subtracted?

If this was possible could it be bound to the PAUSE UNTIL DATE action?

The Workflow would only then be triggered (p

sharepoint 2010 Document Library - Email as attachment

I am disappointed to see that SharePoint 2010 does not appear to offer the ability to send a document from a document library as an attachment.  We use Sharepoint to control our documents as such we forbid, by policy, storing local copies of documents as there is no way to ensure that they are the current version (cached local kept in sync with a sharepoint library is allowed).  When Sales, Marketing, Customer Service wants to send a set of documents to a customer, they currently copy all the documents they need to a temp folder on their computer, attach all the documents from the folder to an email, then delete the temporary folder.

I was hoping with all the improved integration, that the library and more valuable would be a view of the library (as it is filtered and sorted) would be accessible to use when selecting attachments. Or the reverse - select a set of documents from a library view and choose email as attachment.

The closest options I have come up with is to open the library in explorer which allows dragging and dropping the documents into the email, but there does not appear to be a way to search or filter the items in the explorer view of the library.

Help me out, is there a better way to do this?  Can Sharepoint workspace help me here?   This is a common complaint at my o

Working with SharePoint document libraries

Document libraries are collections of files that you can share with team members on a Web based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. For example, you can create a library of common documents for a project, and team members can use their Web browsers to find the files, read them, and make comments. Users with Microsoft Office 2003 can check out and edit the files as if they resided on a local or network drive.

By default, your team Web site comes with a built-in document library named Shared Documents, which is listed on the Quick Launch bar as well as on the Documents and Lists page.

SharePoint Document Workspaces for Developers

Office 2003 is being released this month, and a cast of supporting applications is already available. One of these is Windows SharePoint Services 2.0, the free team add-on for Windows Server 2003. If you're not familiar with SharePoint Services basics, take a look at What Developers Need to Know About Windows SharePoint Services. In this article, I'm going to drill into one key place where SharePoint and Office 2003 overlap: document workspaces

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

SharePoint document migration challenges when migrating files and folders

There are several challenges when migrating documents to Microsoft SharePoint. While these challenges can be overcome, they are a real pain if the migration source, content and file systems are not SharePoint friendly.

SharePoint: Add a Recycle Bin to Windows SharePoint Services for Easy Document Recovery

Windows SharePoint Services helps improve collaboration and workflow while protecting documents and intellectual property. But one feature is conspicuously missing - an easy way to back up and restore deleted files from document libraries. In this article, the authors take advantage of the extensibility of WSS and its server-side and client-side object models to build a restore feature that works like the Recycle Bin in Windows Explorer.

Approve/Reject a document using Sharepoint web services

Is there a way to approve / reject a file that has been published on sharepoint 2007 using web services only?

Say there is a document 'A.xls' that was published as a major version by the author. I want the admin to be able to approve/reject it from a site outside the Sharepoint application. I know there is a workflow involved in this, but is there a web service that exposes the functionalities attributed to this workflow?

Can I open the "new" menu in a SharePoint Document Library using Dragon NaturallySpeaking?

When a user, who uses Dragon NaturallySpeaking, says "new" when viewing a Document Library the default content type is selected and the associated application (e.g. Microsoft Word) is launched. This scenario is okay for Content Type selection since the Microsoft Office applications will prompt for the metadata once the file is saved.

If the user needs to create new folders in the Document Library however they need to expand the "new" dropdown menu.

What is the best way for someone using Dragon NaturallySpeaking to expand the "new" menu for a Document Library in SharePoint?
