Error while trying to register DLLs for Microsoft Jet on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello! I'm having issues with importing Excel spreadsheets into Microsoft SQL Server 2005 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit server.  After browsing the web, it appears that the problem is with the DLL's used by Microsoft Jet.  I've thus attempted to re-register these DLL's.  However, I am receiving the following results. c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjetoledb40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjet40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjint40.dllThe module "msjint40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjter40.dllThe module "msjter40.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\msjtes40.dllSuccessful c:\Windows\SysWOW64> regsvr32 c:\Windows\SysWOW64\mswstr10.dllThe module "mswstr10.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DLLRegisterServer was not found I've set the application pool for this site to use 32bit.  Please note that due to my role on the team, other options such as using ACE are not available to me, unless I can prove that I've exhausted all other options. Thoughts? Thanks,Mike

Windows 7 CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 26

Hi I have migrated to a new computer using Windows 7, 6 gig memory, I7 chip (old machine had xp) and have installed Visual Studio 2008 and  SQL Server 2008 R2.  I get CREATE DATABASE permission denied in database 'master'. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 262) when I try to create a new database.  Other posts (example:http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sqltools/thread/28fee0ed-c7e2-40df-8f79-f513c9848f09/) work for Vista but I cannot find how to grant permissions.  Run as administrator (vista fix) does not work. I have admin privaleges on my machine.  There are no other accounts.    What do I need to do to update privaleges? Thanks and have a nice day.

Error installing SQL Server 2008 R2 on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 machine

HI all, I'm installing the Developer edition of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 (downloaded today) on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit virtual machine (using VMWare Workstation 6.5).  Yesterday I had tried MS SQL Server 2008 R0 with the same results.  Both give an error about 30% into the installation process: "An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'VSLangProj80,Version="",PublicKeyToken="b03f5f7f11d50a3a",Culture="neutral",FileVersion="8.0.50727.1826"' When I click the OK button, the install rolls that last bit back and then continues.  Unfortunatly I didn't take a screenshot of the main install window, just the error window. Any ideas what this error means?  The install yesterday seemed to work, but I'm not through the R2 install yet.  The R0 install also failed to install the documentation for some reason (I left it running during the night) Note that I have VS2010 (original release plus downloaded updates) installed and then just some small stuff like Snagit and Skype on this VM.  I updated Windows 7 completely before I started installing R2 so it is completely up to date as of midnight! SQL Server 2008 Windows Authentication Mode fails for Database Engine, error 18456

I installed SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition (10.0.1600.22.080709-1414) on a Windows Vista 32-bit development machine with Windows Authentication Mode only (no SQL Server Authentication).   Since this is a development machine, I saw no need for Mixed Mode when I did the install.  The SQL Server Management Studio allows me to login to Analysis Services, Integration Services, Reporting Services, BUT NOT the Database Engine!Windows Authentication for the Database Engine gives the following error: EventID: 18456Login failed for user MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN'. Reason: Token-based server access validation failed with an infrastructure error. Check for previous errors. [CLIENT: <local machine>]The 'fix' I have found online is to login as SA in SQL Server Authentication mode & add MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN as a administrator for the Database Engine.  Unfortunately, I can't since I didn't install SQL Server Authentication mode (only Windows Authentication Mode).  It appears my only recourse is to uninstall, then reinstall in Mixed mode, then to login as SA in SQL Server Authentication mode & add MYDOMAIN\MYLOGIN as a administrator for the Database Engine. Before I do so, does anyone know of a better approach?Scott D Duncan

Help with Microsoft Authorisation Manager (Azman) for Windows Server 2008 and XP Dev

Morning all, I am hoping someone can shed some light on a problem i have as i seem to be at a dead end and cannot find a resolution. Even Google!   My scenario is as follows: 1) I have Azman installed on a windows 2008 server with the database hosted on SQL server. 2) I have an application that im developing in a Windows XP environment using a version managed PIA for AzMan (Microsoft.Interop.Security.AzRoles). When the application loads, and the following statement is executed: AzAuthorizationStoreClass store = new AzAuthorizationStoreClass(); store.Initialize(0, this.storeLocation, null); ... i get an exception which is thrown by .Initialise: "The specified network provider name is invalid. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800704B4)" the storeLocation is set and read from the configuration file as: <add key="storeLocation" value="mssql://Driver={SQL Server};Server={my2008server};/AzManDb/MyTestApplication" /> Any help is very much appreciated.

Error during SQL Server 2008 setup on windows 7 home premium

I have Windows 7 home Premium on 64 bit machine. I have installed Visual Studio 2008 sucessfully and SQL Server 2008 installer also shows "successful" installation. However when I try to login thru Sql mgmt Studio, I get error " No process is on the other end of the pipe". I checked SQL Server configuration and Named Pipes configuration, that seems all right. When I checked event log, it had following msg:

The Tabular Data Stream (TDS) version 0x730a0003 of the client library used to open the connection is unsupported or unknown. The connection has been closed.

on googling, some of posts suggest to download .Net f/w 2.0 SP1. I downloaded the same from MS site, but on instllation, I get msg "this version is not supported on windows vista".

Please suggest any solution/workaround, i have been struggling with this for sometime now.

thanks in advance

Help deploying Windows Service to 64bit Server usinf Visual Studio 2008 Setup Project?

I have a Windows Service I created a while back for our Win2003/2008 32bit Servers, written in Visual Studio 2008, deployed via a VS2k8 Setup Project.  Everything works great, installs fine, and runs as it should.  There is no platform dependent code, it's all straight-up .Net Framework stuff, so we thought it should deploy to a Win2008 64bit Server just fine.  But this seems not to be the case.

When I try to install the Service as is on the 64bit machine, the service and associated DLL's are installed to the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64" folder, but when you right click the Service itself and look at the properties, it is trying to find the .exe file in the "C:\Windows\System32" folder. This difference prevents the service from running, obviously.

If I change the Setup Project settings, set the Target Platform to "x64" and change in the File System screen to use the "System (64-bit) Folder" placing the files in there and re-run the setup.exe on the server.... now the files are correctly installed to the "C:\Windows\System32" folder, but the Service itself is not 'installed', that is it *does not* show up in the Services Manager.

Just for the giggles of it I tried to manually install the service using 'installutil.exe' in the .Net Fra

Error: "HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error" - Windows Server 2008, IIS7, SSAS 2008, msmdpump.d

We are migrating from Windows Server 2003 / IIS6 to Windows Server 2008 (32-bit) / IIS7 and I am having trouble getting our OLAP HTTP access re-established.  I had this working fine under IIS6 but am now getting the error "HTTP Error 500.0 - Internal Server Error" when attempting to access msmdpump.dll via a browser.

Our existing Win2003 server emits a blob of useful XML when you access the dll via a browser, the new Win2008 server just issues a HTTP 500 error.  Obviously when I get around this error we'll be using standard OLAP clients like Excel and Report Builder etc.

I have followed these instructions:

The Windows Event Logs contain no errors relating to the failed attempts.  I temporarily configured Failed Request Tracing and got a couple of traces of the error occurring.  The most pertinent thing I could find in the FRT was:
