IE 7 with Webforms and Proxy Server

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 08, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

I have started having problems with our asp.net webform applications running behind a proxy since the user base have upgraded to IE7. Some postbacks seem to drop out and at times it is difficult to make controls on a page raise an event. It appears to be intermittant and I have been told there are issues around using IE7 behind a proxy with post requests. Is this the case and what are the options? Rewite in MVC? Does the issue of post requests behind a proxy remain in IE8? Any help greatly appreciated. Steven

deploying to msdeploy does not support a proxy server

I am trying to deploy through webmatrix but my system Proxy server configuration is not being used. I assume that webmatrix would detect the proxy server settings and use that for the msdeploy calls under the hood. Can anyone confirm this is a know issue?

Proxy failed to create remote object on the server

Hi, I am using .net remoting for inter-process communication between two processes on the same machine 1.   The first process is one of the Office application: Ecxel /   Word /   PP 2.   The other process is another application that interacts with one of the above. For that it needs office application object. For example: Excel The solution is comprised with 3 projects: Project #1: The remote object is a simple Called RemoteOfficeApplication – that simply wraps the required application object (Word / Excel / PP).   Project #2: The Server is a simple Office add-in, written with a Visual Studio Extensibility -> Shared project. This add-in is instantiated whenever Excel is lunched. This project reference project #1. Code: var channel = new TcpChannel (5003); ChannelServices.RegisterChannel(channel, true ); RemotingConfiguration.RegisterWellKnownServiceType( typeof (RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication ), “AppObj”, WellKnownObjectMode .Singleton);   Project #3: The Client is the process that requires the application object. This project also reference project #1. Code:   //Get Remote object proxy object remoteAppObject = Activator.GetObject(typeof(RemoteOfficeApplication.RemoteOfficeApplication), “tcp://localhost:5003/AppObj" ); //Cast the proxy var r

Sharepoint 2010 Proxy server - Use ISA 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 for Proxy server

Hi, I am installing SharePoint 2010 for a client shortly and he has asked whether he should use ISA Server 2006 or Forefront TMG 2010 for the proxy server as he has both running on site. His requirements are not complex and I am initially just setting up and configuring a basic installation but his requirments might change in the future(I suppose he could just change which proxy he uses if necessary). All users (350 users) will be on the domain when accessing SharePoint but this might change in the future. My question is - are there any advantages to using one of the above servers as the proxy for SharePoint over the other? Thanks.

SQL SERVER 2005/2008 Proxy Account Set up

Hi All,I need to clear the logic behind Proxy account in SQL server 2005/2008.1.If i want to create a proxy account to run the xp_cmd shell system stored procidures ?2.And if i want to run the job steps what i understand here is:For:1 .above we can create a SQL/Windos Login and we can map this login to master database. it will create a user in master database, and we can aisign this user in master database xp_cmd shell extended strored procidure access from the securibles node or by running the scripts, however if this login/user dont have sysadmin access he can not run the xp_cmdshell extended stored prcidure in sql server query analyzer to achieve this task we need to create a credential using the EXEC sp_xp_cmdshell_proxy_account 'Windows LOGIN NAME','Password'.Here 'Windows LOGIN NAME' can be any windows account having least privilage(can not have syadmin privilage). For 2:To Run job steps using proxy account is where we have to use gui(off course ready scripts also)  but for that we need to create a cridential first if you are using gui:a) give name of cridentaial b) choose any windows account(haveing no sys admin access) and give the password for this windows account, make sure you are giving the correct password here.so now credentail part is done now go to proxy under sql server agentright click on proxy> new proxy> give a name to proxy, in credenti

ISA Server Proxy connecting to MSDN

I can browse MSDN all day long at work through our Microsoft ISA Proxy Server - until I get to a point where I have to log in (i.e. provide my password).

Then, I can still get here to ask a question, but submitting it always fails. The server reports a timeout, and our network administrator says it has something to do with Microsoft's headers having spaces that our old ISA Server does not know how to interpret.

This is really hurting my productivity at work! I can't access any help on MSDN, because it first tries to log you in. I can access any of Microsoft's forums, etc. Basically, once I log in and get my first timeout, every site with msdn.microsoft.com will timeout until I go in and clear all of my cache - of course, then I'm not logged in anymore either.

Could someone offer some help with getting this resolved?

I will be listening, but I can not respond from work (I am at home now).

Thanks for your help,
~Joe

I have created a registration webpage with password fields to enter and also some dropdownlist server controls to select from the list. When i change some items from the dropdownlist or when i check the checkbox in the webpage, the password entered in the password textbox gets cleared. How to get rid of this? I have set the autopostback property  of the checkbox and also the dropdownlist server controls to true.

External Internet Access through a proxy server for RSS

I am trying to configure a Sharepoint 2010 farm (3 WFE and 2 AppServers) to load RSS content from the Internet, but our farm is behind a proxied firewall.  I have found instructions for configuring Sharepoint 2007 to be able to access the Internet through a proxy, but have found nothing for Sharepoint 2010.  Are there any new methods in 2010, or is it still modify each web.config file?  I was able to make this work on my test server with the same change as 2007 in the referenced discussion, but I'd rather not mess with the web.config manually if possible.  Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

The request failed with HTTP status 407: Proxy Authentication Required (the ISA server requires auth

I'm new to webservice. I writed an example to work with a web service which is supplied on Internet (its url: http://ws.cdyne.com/delayedstockquote/delayedstockquote.asmx ) when i tried running i got an error message as System.Net.WebException was unhandled
Message="The request failed with HTTP status 407: Proxy Authentication Required ( The ISA Server requires authorization to fulfill the request. Access to the Web Proxy service is denied.  )."

I had found some solutions such as:
+ using ISA firewall
+ configuring proxy from Machine.config
+ inside coding

The first:  I used ISA firewall but i still got the same error, my problem didn't resolve. I guessed that is because ISA firewall needn't use Credentials (username/password).

The second:
I tried coding in my source, it was okie. This solution is good because following this way i can get defaultCredentials from cache but needn't define straightforwardly my credentials as username/password
my code is as follows:

Setup to access moss 2007 externally when a proxy server is enabled on the internet connection

Hi,

Does anyone know what setup is required to allow an internet connection with a proxy server enabled to authenticate properly with moss 2007?

The credentials dont get accepted at the moment and the screen goes blank (white) after the three attempts. I gather this has something to do with NTLM not being allowed throguh the proxy server which is the authentication method we have used at the moment.
