Looking for suggestions or ideas how to setup to capture search criteria and present to user if they

Requirements call for the ability to save search values so that they can select them at later times to return the results without having to re-enter the values. They have the ability to search on 4 different types of data (Date, Time and Lat/Long), so they would like to capture what was entered and ONLY if they chose to save those values, it will be saved and next time they login, if they are searching, they can pick an old search and submit it again.   Im thinking that i add a checkbox next to each button, if they check it, it saves the data into a table with there values and username. Next time they login and go tothe search page, if there are any records for them in the table, i present them with a link that displays all the values stored and if they select one, it will run the search again and present them with the results.. does that sound like the right way to handle this request?

How to setup a function to capture a value when user doubleclicks

We have a video playback window with a slider on it.. as you move the slider back and forth, the video time displays above the slider bar.. we would like to add the ability to capture the value when a user doubleclicks on the bar during playback..

So say you have a video playing that is 45secs..

you press play and the slider is moving along, when it gets to say 15secs you doubleclick.. (store that in a session or variable for later ) you let it continue and at 25secs you doubleclick again.. now store that value..

i was looking at the available parameters on the slider when i use the line below. How can i setup a function that is only called when a user double clicks on the sliderbar.. nothing else on the page?

var slider = document.getElementById("slider");

WSS 3.0 Search Setup Help

To Anyone that is willing to help me out, I would appreciate any guidance that is given to me.  We are currently running WSS 3.0 and have the search server started in the central administration area for our web application.

maxserver = The web application

sqlserver = sql database

content db = WSS_Content_3dbbdcc81761405cb6e9d983a88d59bd

When I go to Central Administration > Application Management > Content Databases > Manage Content Database Settings and choose the content DB above to setup the search the following settings are set:

Database server
SQL Server database name

Search Server
You can choose to associate a content database with a specific server that is running the Windows SharePoint Services search service.
Select Windows SharePoint Services search server
Select one... maxserver

My question is, should the SharePoint Service search server be the Maxserver or the sqlserver.

The reason i ask this is it is set to maxserver currently and no results show up. I know for a fact that the timer jobs are running!  Shouldn't the server be the database server, sqlserver?  or does it spider maxserver?

Long execution times for Search pages even after 4th or 5th user has accessed the same page.

Hi Guys We have a Sharepoint 2010 farm with two NLB web fronts ends, a Index server and a two box SQL cluster. The same problem also occurs on a dev box which has Sharepoint 2010 and SQl server running on the same single box. When a user access the search or advanced search page we get long execution times of between 15 and 30 seconds.  The strange thing is that the user will have a slow response the first time, then they are fine for a period of an hour or two and then they hit the slow response again.  Below i have copied info from the developer dashboard.  Does anyone have a suggestion of where to start tackiling this issue. Anonymouse user - Cannot search in SharePoint 2010

I've implemented anonymous access on a publishing portal running on SharePoint 2010.  The site is accessible but the minute I try to complete a search the user is challenged.Search is currently configured to use the native page (_layouts/OSSSearchResults.aspx) and I doubt that NTFS permissions is playing a role.http://technicallead.wordpress.com/

Custom NEW User Setup

I'm having trouble setting up a custom NEW User Screen.  Here is my situation, I have a Request for Access Screen that uses the CreateNewUser Wizard Control.  I want to leave the Question and Answer for this, however I also want a custom NEW User Setup which I build myself to allow the system administrators to setup users, but for this setup I don't want the administrators to have to pick the question and answer for the NEW user, so I would like to bypass this for this setup.  However, my Membership.CreateUser keeps asking for it.  How can I accomplish this?  I've included a copy of my current web.config file.  You will notice a AspNetAdminMemberhip which I use to allow the System Administrators to reset passwords.

Search server 2010 setup - error creating search service application

I am running in a very similar siutation as this post:

I am configuring a new Search Server 2010 production environment.

I used the search setup account to run the setup and run the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.

During the first run of the SharePoint configuration wizard (where the farm account and service applications are setup), the process failed because the search service application could not be created.

Errors were encountered during the configuration of the Search Service Application.
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: User does not have permissiont to perform this action.

I was under the assumption that the setup account had securityadmin and dbcreator SQL Server roles.  However, this was not the case and I had them added.  My original thought was the setup failed because of this.  After those roles were added, I tried to recreate the search service application and I still get a failure.

I am pretty sure I have followed the prerequisites as prescribed by Microsoft in terms of account setup (
