In SQL Server 2008, when I use sp_add_alert I specify whether to include a description of of the error by setting the value of the
@include_event_description_in argument. The MSDN article (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189531%28SQL.100%29.aspx) on sp_add_alert
is confusing in regard to the default value for the argument. The descriptive note for the argument says the default value is
5, the logical OR combined values of 1, for email notification, and
4, for net send notification. However, the table of possible values says that the default value is 0, no description is sent at all. So, which is the default, 5 (email and net send) or 0 (no description)? I might note that for the similar argument
for sp_update_alert the default value is NULL.
