How to set a default location for saving Profiler templates

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
How do you change the default location for saving Profiler templates.  I've done this before, but don't recall how.  And now I'm trying to setup 2008 to reference a network location vs. the local hard drive on my PC. Thanks,  Dave

How to change the default location of SQL Server Profiler Template?

How can I change the default location of SQL Server Profiler Template from C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SQL Profiler\10.0\Templates\Microsoft SQL Server\90?  If I log on to a Windows machine as certain user, anything created in appdata\roaming folder during that logon session will be lost after I logged off.

If there is no way to change the location, how can I set up such user to retain anything created?  I know this question is related to Windows administration but I guess someone in here probably have experienced my problem before.

Problem Saving Files to A Sharepoint 2010 Site from Office 2010: Saves locally by default rather tha

Hi we are starting to use sharepoint 2010 / word 2010 and have found an interesting bug/problem. Sometimes when a user tries to save a file (by clicking on the save button in the quick access toolbar for word 2010) the save dialog comes up with the users local "Documents" folder as the path (not the correct sharepoint path where the document should be saved).  (I should say that we are creating the file from sharepoint by using a toolbar on the document library, with the new button)  We are using a content type and a template attached to the document library when we create the file.  This is really annoying because the user might not notice that the document is saving locally and not to sharepoint.  I have found a strange workaround which involves clicking the [File] tab on the ribbon in word 2010, then clicking "Save and Send" and then clicking the save button again.  At this point word 2010 seems to "remember" that it is trying to save document to sharepoint and shows the sharepoint document library. This is a real nuisance which could lead to documents being lost/misfiled if people don't realize that this is happening.  Can anyone help me? Thanks Kevin krd

SQL Server 2008 Profiler--Templates Missing

For some reason (even after an uninstall, reinstall and updating the the Community Update) there are no templates visible in the Profiler for SQL Server 2008. On another system it works fine but the Trace Provider Type shows "Microsoft SQL Server 2008". On the problem system it shows "Microsoft SQL Server 10.0".   What's up?

Default MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator CSS Class Location

I am new to using the MaskedEditExtender and MaskedEditValidator controls. When I went to set these up, I found that it entered the CSS class names automatically for the following properties.

OnBlurCssNegative = MaskedEditBlurNegative
OnFocusCssClass = MaskedEditFocus
OnFocusCssNegative = MaskedEditFocusNegative
OnFocusCssClass = MaskedEditError

However, I do not have these CSS classes in my Styles.css file. Where are these CSS classes located? Also, if I do include these same classes in my own stylesheet, will it override whatever the classes state in this default location or do I have to call them something different?

how to change the default log file location?

I recently install SQL2005 on my win 2003 server. I have 3 drives (C, D, E).  The sql is installed on D.

When I install SharePoint, it create the database for me.  However, both data & log files are default to D:\Program files......

As advised, I should separate data & log files into different drives.  How can I set the default data file to D and log file to E?  Can I detach the model database and move the current ldf file to E.  Then update the new location when I reattach the model database?  Will this change my future default log file location?   Is this save to do it this way? or I shouldn't touch the model database.  Instead, do a manual change after a new database is created?!

Web Site/ Web Application templates seem changed; give me default.aspx only with site.master in VWD

Using Visual Web Developer 2010 Express

I was used to creating a web app anytime and I would get a default page for starters and be happy.  But today I find that when I pick either the ASP.NET Web Site or ASP.NET Web Application templates I get site.master and a bunch of site admin files that I don't want.  Alternately when I select the empty versions of those templates, I get almost nothing at all.  An almost empty web.config page and no Default.aspx page.  There is nothing magical about having a default.aspx page in place, but it is an indicator of a change when I can only get a virtually completely empty website or a website with a bunch of bells and whistles I don't want.

Also, for some reason, when I create a new app or website as just noted, in the Solution Explorer I get aspx.designer.cs files showing as well as web.config files for both debug and release.

Somehow some settings and templates must have changed, or am I missing something here?  How can I get my settings/templates to go back to the way they were?

Editing default backup location

I am running out of space on the sharepoint pc's C drive. This is due to the c:/Andor folder that sharepoint is backing up spbr* files.

Where can i change where these files are backed up to, i want them backed up to a different drive?

Default location of data files

I had changed the default location setting for database in the "Database Options" tab of SQL server setting and it has taken effect when I create new database using Management Studio.

But when using CREATE DATABASE DBName the file still gets created in the old location. I dont see any option to change the setting any further. Its an SQL 2005 cluster. Is this a bug or am I missing a setting somewhere?

How to change the default backup location?

SQL Server puts backups in a default folder C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Backup
Is there a way to change that to a different location?

I'm using Smo.Backup object in my code to create backups. The backups I create are stored in that default folder, but I was hoping that I can change that default location without having to make code changes.
Is that possible?

Dynamic Data Templates in GridView ASP.NET 3.5

At a high level, Dynamic Data Templates can be seen as a system to very quickly build up a User Interface linked with the relevant data model, immediately enabling you to perform CRUD operations (Create, Read, Update, Delete) on the database using the specified data source. They provide a powerful method for building up these kinds of applications, and I'm going to focus on an overview of what Dynamic Data Templates actually are, and a few ways of customizing them to suit industry needs.

Default ASP.NET Architecture

In providing an architectural approach, some assumptions are made concerning the project goals. These assumptions should be used as a litmus test to determine if the described architecture may be an appropriate fit for your ASP.NET application.
