There is column I have created using custom field type .I want the grid view that i have in my new/edit mode same to be displayed in my display mode also. What should be the appropriate approach ? Here is my code in which i ma getting error ..so i decided to change my approach..I thought changing in render pattern of field definition file can work... using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using Microsoft.SharePoint.WebControls; using System.Web; using System.Web.UI.WebControls; using Microsoft.SharePoint; using System.Xml; using System.Reflection; using System.Web.UI; using System.Collections; using System.Data;     namespace UserControl_ClassLib {     public class UserControl_ClassLibControl : BaseFieldControl     {         protected UserControl preview_UC;         protected GridView gridViewValue;         protected GridView grdDataView;         //protected TextBox txtbox;               protected override string DefaultTemplateName         {             get { return "UserControl_ClassLibCo

Creating a custom drop down field type with SelectedIndexChanged Event

Hi All, I am trying to create a custom drop down field type and I was able to acheive that using the MS link http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb861799.aspx. As per the link, once the custom field is created we can override the "Validate" method to write the Validation logic and that works fine for me too. However I am facing a challenge even before going to Validate . Let me explain my actual requirements here. I need to build a custom drop down field and expose the field to the user in "Edit Properties " Page of a document library. Along with this field, I will be having some OOB site columns in the Edit Properties Page (Ex: Title, Subject etc)  . When user selects a value in the drop down, I need to hide/show few OOB site columns based on certain criteria.  I am facing a challenge of how to capture the "SelectedIndexChanged " event for the Custom drop down field in Sharepoint (Can we wire the SelectedIndexChanged event to a custom dropdown field type) ? Is this acheivable in SP 2010 Custom field type ? If so, how can I do it ? Can any of you kindly help me here?   Regards, Yesh

SharePoint 2007 to Access 2007 - Issues grouping by "Person or Group" field type/column

We are on SharePoint 2007 and using Access 2007.  The SharePoint list contains a column called Assigned Person, column type: Person or Group, single selection, displaying only the name 1) When we Open with Access and Export a copy of the data, then create a report from that table, we do not have the option to group on Assigned Person.  2) When we Open with Access and Link to data on the SharePoint site, then create a report from that list, when we group by Assigned Person... The same person has 2 groups - there are is no other grouping or sorts on the list, and i can't locate a correlation to another field to show why they would have to collections for the same person The Person or Group column sorts "from smallest to largest" as though it is a number field. The list is a task/activity tracking system we created custom for our needs.  We want to pull a weekly report, grouped by Assigned Person, but cannot get access to work.  We do not want to resort to anything more complex, as it takes a much longer process to have reports pulled by Chrystal or one of those types of applications.  And we cannot change out the field for something like a Choice column as the list already has a very large amount of content.  Can anyone assist? Is there a setting hiding somewhere that is causing the problem?

conditionally hide a field in a custom form using SharePoint Designer

I'm able to hide a field based on a security group. but, how do you hide a field based on a value in another field? Custom form opens, if fieldTwo = "taco", hide fieldOne.

Custom field type - set value doesn't work when field is hidden

Hi, I have a simple custom field type which gets a value from the Property Bag and sets that value to a label. This works fine as long as the field is set to Optional (the field is a site column and is part of a site content type), but if I set it to Hidden, the value doesn't get set. public override void UpdateFieldValueInItem()         {             this.EnsureChildControls();               if (this.ControlMode == SPControlMode.New)             {                 this.Value = GetChosenConsole();             }         }   Does anyone know why this is and what I need to do in order for it to work even though it's hidden? Thanks!

SharePoint Search with custom SPFieldText Type containing SPFieldLookupValue

We have a custom sharepoint field of type SPFieldText. The value of the field contains an SPFieldLookupValue of format {ID;#Value}  such as  {"123456;#Customer Name"}. Can Share Point search with either ID or value if the custom site column is configured as a managed metadata property?

Thanks

Unable to attach a custom SharePoint Workflow to a Content Type

I am working with SharePoint Server 2010 Beta 2, Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate RC and SharePoint Designer 2010 Beta.

I built a custom Content Type based on the Item type with a few custom site columns. I also have built a custom Sequential Workflow using Visual Studio 2010. This is a relatively simple workflow that creates a task, waits for the task to complete, sets the workflow to complete. I am able to deploy this workflow to the site collection through VS 2010.

The problem I have is that when I try to associate my custom Content Type with my custom workflow, that workflow is not listed in the workflow templates to select. There are only the OOTB SharePoint workflows to choose. However, if I create a list and associate a workflow to that list, my custom workflow is listed in the workflow template list.

This makes sense since at the start of building a custom workflow in VS2010, one of the first questions is whether the workflow is a Site or a List workflow and I selected List.

I did a little research and found some who wrote that Reusable Workflows may be attached to Content Types.  In VS2010, there is no option to build a Reusable Workflow.  That is only possible in SharePoint Designer.  However, it is possible to import a SPD workflow into VS, so I tried that.  Imported the WSP into VS201

SharePoint field type "hyperlink or picture"

Hi,

I am making a workflow which creates a task for a user.
When the task is created I want to insert an URL into a custom column in the task list of the field type "hyperlink or picture".
I have managed this through the following code in my createTask activity:

        private void CreateMyTask(object sender, EventArgs e)
        {
              ...
              myTaskProperties.ExtendedProperties.Add("CustomLink", "http://mycustomsitelink.com/somelink");
        }

The only problem is, I can't figure out how to set the display text for this link. It will show the entire link on the screen, and I would like it to show something like "My link" while clicking it would lead you to the URL.
