I'm a rank amateur with Sharepoint (and IIS and SQL), but I've been tasked with getting a 2010 installation up and going, so I'm sure I'm going to have a lot of .... interesting questions over the next few weeks and months.
So a couple weeks ago I installed a fresh 2010 Foundation server with it's very own fresh copy of SQL server.
As I'm working through the "How To use" books I'm trying out the features.
My current issue is with the Shared document library. I have successfully uploaded a file, and I can download it, but I can't check it out, or edit it. (That might be due to using Word 2007, I'm not sure)
Regardless, when I try to check it out, it gives me the local directory prompt. Then it gives the error.
"This document could not be checked out. You may not have permission to check out the document or it is already check out or locked for editing by another user."
I'm the only one using this installation, and I'm a site/farm administrator so I'm not sure what it's problem is.
So I go into Manage Permissions -> Check permissions -> Put in my name -> Click Ok.
Which gives me:
File not found
