SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. WSUS Role Install Failure

Ok, at my witts end.  I have searched the internet from one end to the other, and have not found what I am looking for, so here it goes.I want to install System Center, Configuration Manager on a 2008 R2, Data Center server.  As a pre-requisite, I need to install the Role for WSUS.  The first issue I encountered dealt with a bug, because I have a Windows 2000 DC, in my domain.  I found the patch and installed it.  Now, SQL is giving me an error, because it is trying to use the server credentials, to install the DB as Domain\Servername$, and returns the following in the logs:Msg 15401, Level 16, State 1, Server SQL08SRV1,  Line 1Windows NT user or group 'DOMAIN\SERVERNAME$' not found. .Net Framework 4.0 install failure & (possible) solution?

I repeatedly got the following error messages when attempting to install .Net Framework 4.0 on Windows 7 Professional x64:Log Name:      SetupSource:        Microsoft-Windows-WUSAEvent ID:      3Task Category: NoneLevel:         ErrorKeywords: Description:Windows update  could not be installed because of error 2359302 "" (Command line: "wusa.exe "C:\79021cf737df094c5735\Windows6.1-KB958488-v6001-x64.msu" /quiet /norestart")This error was listed in the msi install log:Product: Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile -- Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.I was able to get the framework installed by going into the MSIServer registry key (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\MSIServer) and changing WOW64 from 1 to 0.  I haven't been able to locate any good documentation for this value & its purpose, is this an acceptable way of getting this installed, and will it cause any problems in the future?  Should I change the value back to 1?  I have other machines with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate installed that did not have any problems with the 4.0 framework installation.

Logical HOST_NAME within Post Snapshot Script for Dynamic Merge Snapshot

I have a Merge Publication that is dynamically filtered based on HOST_NAME(). All subscriptions are push subscriptions (i.e all agents run in a common distributor)

In the definition of any Subscriber I can specify  the value of HOST_NAME() for the pupose of dynamic filtering. But HOST_NAME() in the Post Snapshot script appears to be the actual HostName of the Distributor (not the HostName of the Subscriber for whom that dynamic snapshot is intended).

How can I retrieve either the HOST_NAME for the subscriber as defined by the subscription, or the actual HOST_NAME() of the intended subscriber (either will do).

The processing performed by the Post Snapshot Script is conditional on which dynamic snapshot has just been invoked

Running DB script with App install

I've got a Windows Service app I wrote that requires three new tables and several views and SPs to be created.  I've got a complete script that works and have added a custom action in the form of a VBS file that references the script file.

My vbs file looks like this

Set WSHShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
WSHShell.Run ("sqlcmd -S OFFICE8995 -U sa -P mypassword -d DBName -i C:\Program Files\ITService\TestScript.txt")

I can run the TestScript in Query Analyzer and it works but the VBS file is not working.  The database is a MSDE 2000 db and was hoping to use sqlcmd which I do have on this box. But the osq isnt working either.

How can I debug this?  Anything obvious that I'm missing?

TIA

Harry

Run jQuery script after each form post in mvc2 app

I need to exec some js each time a page loads, and also every time a view is returned after a post action.  I use jQuery.ajax to post form - using url of Controller/Action.  Post is successful and response data is correct, but my js doesn't get called.

I had js in a script tag, within the head of my view.aspx, and found that it does not execute each time the response is received after a post action.  I also tried calling this within $(document).ready, but this does not execute after post action.  window.onload also does not exec after post action.

I prefer not to use MS AJAX js lib, but if there is some pageLoad function, I will give it a try.

Is there a native javascript event that is raised when http response is received?  Thanks.

webDAV not working post patch install

Hi, I installed the security patches (KB2416471 etc.) as advised which all went to plan.  I have multiple websites on the one webserver and using IIS 7's 'binding' to deliver up the correct website to users which all works post patch installs.  I use WebDAV from Expression Web 4 to publish the sites from my PC.  However post patch install I can no longer publish (connect) to the webserver using WebDAV.  I get the Expression Web message "There is no site named "<site name>"."

Has anybody else experienced this issue - any suggestions?

MSSQL 2008 SP1 install fails: A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair

When attempting to install SQL Server 2008 SP1, I get the "Setup Failure" message below, along with Error code 0x84B20001.  I did read the summary*.txt files from previous installations in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log" as mentioned in the error message; the "Final result" and "Exit message" of the previous install is "Passed", so I'm not finding an answer that way.  I have also pasted the version info below.  What would you advise?

A failure was detected for a previous installation, patch, or repair during configuration for features [SQL_DTS_Full,Connectivity_Full,SQL_SSMS_Full,SDK_Full,Tools_Legacy_Full,SQL_BIDS_Full,SQL_SSMS_Adv,SQL_PowerShell_Tools_ANS,SQL_WRITER,]. In order to apply this patch package (KB968369), you must resolve any issues with the previous operation that failed. View the summary.txt log to determine why the previous operation failed.
