What's happening with JScript.NET

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Years ago I had an interest in this language (which I think is a cool achievement).

There was writing on the wall that it was not a first class citizen, it never got editing support in VS.

I haven't given it much thought for years.

There is a compiler for it in .NET 2.  (jsc.exe)

I see that it's slated be in .NET 4 (though the DLR language managed JScript isn't).

I used the language in .NET 1 for it's eval and I see that others are doing the same.  (I also see that there are at least a few commercial uses, like Sony in Sound Forge and Vegas.)

Does anybody here have a good handle on the spectrum of people who are using it, the attitude of management in MS and any IDE support for the language?

Jscript error: Object does not support property or method

Hi, i have little knowledge on javascript but i need to use this code get from somewhere for a jquery to work.

I face this "Jscript runtime error: Object does not support property or method" whenever im trying to run this page.

In my experience, im get this error msg 9 out of 10 times i use javascript in my system.

Im using Microsoft Visual web developer 2008, i wonder if this is related to my problem, i not sure there is anything i need to add as reference or update anything.

But anyway, in short, i just couldn't use javascript code when using this development tool because of this sort of error.

Anyway, it happen that last time i tried use the same type of jquery code in another project and it seems to work well without an error.

But now when im try to use it again in this recent project i created, it come out with this error and i have no idea how to solve it even look through google and this forum.

It doesn't really seems like its the code problem itself although im not sure, because any javascript code just couldn't work.

So below is my code that i need to use.

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.3.2/jquery.min.js" ></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src=&quo

Documents becoming "locked for editing" by self, when no other edits are happening

On our SharePoint 2007 SP1 farm, intermittently, when a user opens a Microsoft Office document (usually Excel) for editing by single-clicking its name in IE, the following error dialog mysteriously occurs when Office opens:

File in Use
myfile.xlsm is locked for editing
by 'domainname\yourname'
Open 'Read-Only' or click 'Notify' to open read-only and receive notification
when the document is no longer in use.

The problem is, nobody else is editing this document, and the identified user ('domainname\yourname') is the name of the current user (the person opening the document right now)!

This is not "user error", e.g., the same user editing the file from two different computers, or the file being checked out. This is a real, intermittent problem. If the same user opens the same file again 1 minute later, the problem might be gone, even though nothing changed.

It's almost as if some kind of intermittent race condition is happening, where the document gets locked too early...?

We are completely stumped. Any ideas?

Other details:
- SharePoint servers (1 front-end, 1 query, 1 indexing) are all Windows 2003 Server
- SQL Server 2008 on database server

Visual Web Developer 2008 Express - JScript runtime error

I've noticed in Visual Studio 2008 and Visual Web Developer 2008 Express that several, dynamic JScript files are being generated at runtime.  When I run my project in "debug mode," and then I attempt to close the browser, I get the following error: "Microsoft JScript runtime error: Object doesn't support this action" The error occurs in a JS file called "jquery-1.3.2.min.js?77[dynamic].  This file is not part of my project, and I don't know where it resides. In Solution Explorer, under "Script Documents" > "Windows Internet Explorer", there are several other dynamic js files that are only appearing at runtime... What feature is causing these JS files and the JScript runtime error, to be dynamically generated at runtime?

prescan, it just isn't happening

Hi. I am preparing for migration to MOSS2007 from SP2003 SP2. I ran the prescan tool over the database, and it has come back with errors (below) at the very beginning of the log file. Ran STSADM -o enumtemplates to determine number and ID of templates to add to preupgradescanconfig.xml  C:\>stsadm -o enumtemplates  There are no items matching the criteria specified. Ran STSADM -0 databaserepair to determine any orphaned lists or sites.  C:\>stsadm -o databaserepair -url http://address -databasename Address1_SITE  <OrphanedObjects Count="0" /> Thought I'd go ahead and try delete any corruptions anyway: C:\>stsadm -o databaserepair -

Modal Popup Extender: Jscript Runtime Error

I have a master detail aspx page with modal popup. The modal popup has a formview with edit and insert options. Whenever I try to show or hide the popup it always gives the following error. If I ignore it just works fine. Any reason why is this error popping up. Once when I deleted all the breakpoints and debugged it, the error did not show up Error:       Microsoft JScript runtime error: SysArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null       Parameter name:elements. It shows a break some where as follows: Debug Script Section --------------------------- Sys.UI.DomEvent.prototype = {     preventDefault: Sys$UI$DomEvent$preventDefault,     stopPropagation: Sys$UI$DomEvent$stopPropagation } Sys.UI.DomEvent.registerClass('Sys.UI.DomEvent');     $addHandler = Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler = function Sys$UI$DomEvent$addHandler(elements, eventName, handler, autoRemove) {     /// <summary locid="M:J#Sys.UI.DomEvent.addHandler" />     /// <param></param>     /// <param></param>     /// <param></param>     /// <param optional="true" mayBeNull
