Cannot Disable Client Integration

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint

  Hi, I've extended a Web Application on WSS 3.0 so that it uses Integrated Windows Authentication and Client Integration is disabled . Though the form on Central Administration --> Authentication Providers has "Enable Client Integration" set to "No", my site still has all the Client Integration hooks (New Document, Upload Multiple Documents, Edit in Datasheet, Explorer View, etc.). This worked on a different farm, but that farm was a single node/non-load-balanced farm, whereas this one has multiple WFE's. Doesn't seem like that should make any difference, but that's the only distinction between the farms. I've tried deleting and recreating the extended app, but no luck. On the farm in question, I do have another extended web application that uses Forms Authentication; Client Integration is disabled and it's truly disabled. What else can I do here? Any ideas?   I found a code snippet on another forum post that would programmatically turn it on/off, but I don't hold much hope for it, as I imagine it does the same thing that Central Admin does...   public void EnableDisableClientIntegeration(bool enable) { using (SPSite site = new SPSite("http://basesmcdev2/sites/tester1")) { site.WebApplication.IisSettings[SPUrlZone.Default].EnableClientIntegration = enable; site.WebApplication.Update(); } } &nbs

Disable a Specific News Feed Activity Using the Client Object Model

Hello and thanks for reading. I've been working with the out-of-box SharePoint 2010 News Feed portion of My Sites, and I am planning to deploy it to many users.

I am building a console application which will iterate through all of the my sites currently in the system and un-check one of the "Activities I am following' for each user. I have used the example provided at this link(MSDN) to come up with the following code:

 Public Class ChangeActivity

 'Reference: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff426883.aspx'

 Public Shared Sub ChangeActivityProperties()

		Using siteCol As New SPSite((My.Application.CommandLineArgs(0)))

					Dim context As SPServiceContext = SPServiceContext.GetContext(siteCol)

					Dim profileManager As New UserProfileManager(context)

					Dim profile As UserProfile = profileManager.GetUserProfile("THEDOMAIN\username")

					Dim activityMan As ActivityManager = New ActivityManager(profile, context)

					'Create an instance of a list of ActivityPreferencePerType objects.'

					Dim activityPrefsPerType As New List(Of ActivityPreferencePerType)(activityMan.ActivityTypes.Count)

Best practices for integration with async Web client

I am designing a workflow using WF4 that is supposed to be consumed by a Web client. The workflow aggregates WCF services and is triggered by a Receive activity that is in turn spawned from a Web page. While the workflow is being executed, the user's Web session is active, and certain workflow activities may need to inform a user, i.e. Web page needs a feedback about certain workflow stages. I checked the forum and WF samples but have not found examples that would illustrate this approach.

I would like to stick to WCF-based activities (Send, Receive etc.), but not quite certain how to implement feedback to a Web page. So I will appreciate recommendations for best practices in such case.

Let's say this is the scenario:

  1. User clicks "Start" button on a Web page to start a workflow.
  2. Workflow service creates a workflow instance and responds with a instance Id.
  3. Next, "DoSomething" activity is executed on a server
  4. When DoSomething is completed, user should be presented a new Web page. 5-NNN. Other activities are executed, some of them also requiring feedback.

Steps 1-2 can be implemented using ReceiveAndSendReply compound activity that consists of Receive and SendReply. Step 3 is some custom Code activity that completes shortly My first thought about step 4 is that it can b

Client Integration feature not working in MOSS 2010

Hi,

We have installed Moss 2010 and integrated with ADFS 2.0 and CA SiteMinder. We have created a new website and enabled Client integration feature in MOSS 2010. But, the client integration feature doesnt work in MOSS 2010. We can successfully authenticate each IdP and can login to website. However, when we access any document from sharepoint, it asks for user authentication second time. Previously, we had configured the website same way but we were not getting the issue. But, now we are getting this issue when we access any document from sharepoint.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Pravin

Use jQuery and ASP.NET AJAX to build a client side Repeater

By sending only data to the client, you can profoundly reduce the size of what you send and see a substantial increase in performance. You also allow yourself the ability to easily add features like light-weight sorting and paging on the client. This can not only improve your users' experience, but reduce server load and bandwidth requirements.

Client Side Gridview Pagination using JQuery

I would like to show how to use Client Side Gridview Pagination using Jquery Table Pagination Plugin by using Ryan Zielke.

To that end, I'm going to walk you through these four steps to effectively implementing a client side Repeater, using ASP.NET AJAX and jQuery:

CLR Integration With Microsoft SQL Server

Transact-SQL provides as much flexibility as possible but, because it is not a real programming language, it has some shortcomings about many issues (memory management, exception handling, debugging, file processing (or streaming), object-orientation (classes), or thread management). Transact-SQL also lacks features of normal libraries (arrays, collections, serialization, expressions, or string manipulations, etc).

Practical Multithreading for Client Apps

Writing applications that use multiple threads is often considered an advanced programming task, prone to errors. In this month's column, I'll focus on a practical application of multithreading in Windows® Forms applications with some real benefits, while attempting to keep things simple. My goal is to present multithreading in an approachable way that addresses a very common need: writing applications with a user interface that remain responsive to the user.

Adding Client-Side Confirmation When Deleting

The JavaScript confirm(string) function displays its string input parameter as the text inside a modal dialog box that comes equipped with two buttons - OK and Cancel (see Figure 1). The confirm(string) function returns a Boolean value depending on what button is clicked (true, if the user clicks OK, and false if they click Cancel).

want to execute url without showing that page or url to client.

hello friends,

I need ur help,what i want to do is to execute a url ("To send a text message to client") on client registration but without showing that url page, in short executing url without displaying any page or url to the client.

please help and thanks in advance.

Client script not running

Dear all,

in my MVC 2 application, and in the shared Master Page I wrote this little script for menu handling :

<script src="../../Scripts/jquery-1.4.1.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () {

     $('#nav li').hover(
         function () {
             //show its submenu
             $('ul', this).slideDown(100);

         },
        function () {
           //hide its submenu
            $('ul', this).slideUp(100);
         }
     );

 });</script>

The script, that shows menu items when the

Use Membership but bypass / disable password usage for users

I have an application that does LDAP authentication. The authentication is done on the code behind page of my Login.aspx page. Once the user passes LDAP authentication, a cookie is set and I redirect:

FormsAuthentication.RedirectFromLoginPage(UserName.Text, False)

I would like to setup membership in my application and keep track of some user information. But due to company security requirements, I cannot store user passwords on my application. That must stay on the LDAP server only.

Is there a way to store users but disable password storage on the aspnet_membership table?

Problem to obtain client IP on web service

Friends,

I'm having problems to obtain the client IP on web service. Here's my scenario:

One server with Windows 2003, hosting the web service using .Net Framework 2.0, with IP 10.0.2.50 and host name ServerTransaction.
Other server with Windows 2003, hosting a web application using .Net Framework 2.0, that consuming the web service on  ServerTransaction, with IP 10.0.2.51 and host name ServerApplication.
Many other computers on the local network (IPs: 10.0.2.80, 10.0.2.81, 10.0.2.82, ...) acessing the web application on ServerApplication.

On the code of the web service I've tried to use HttpContext.Current.Request.UserHostAddress or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("REMOTE_ADDR") or HttpContext.Current.Request.ServerVariables("HTTP_X_FORWARDED_FORR"), but always I can only get the IP of ServerApplication (10.0.2.51).

Any idea or tip?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.
