Contact Selector - Form tab index is lost after selector resolves names on blur

I'm working with an InfoPath2007 form developed to be filled-out through the browser on a SharePoint 2007 site, and I'm testing using Internet Explorer 7.  It's a straight-forward form, with a number of text fields and two Contact Selector controls.

The issue I'm encountering is with the Contact Selector control, where if the actor only enters a partial name into the text-field and then TABs away from the control the form will perform its auto-postback to look-up and resolve the partial name (showing the name resolution dialog is necessary), and afterward the actor's cursor is focused on the next field in the form.  The actor can type text into the focused field, but any subsequent pressing of the TAB key returns the actor's focus to the browser's ADDRESS bar, which is incorrect as it should proceed to the next field in the form.  I understand that the Contact Selector needs to perform its postback to perform the name resolution (so that there is no way through the InfoPath form designer to disable postbacks for the control), but why does the browser not know how to continue the TAB order of the fields on the form even when a field has focus?

Best regex for email body on contact form?

I'm not sure the best way to do a regex for the body section of an email contact form.  I want to use the regex to prevent more than 150 characters from being entered.  I assume this is sufficient, I may need more.  I also want it to help guard against sql injection attacks. The more I think about it the more characters I can think of that should be allowed.  I want to allow punctuation since it's for an email and people should be using full sentences.  These are some other things that make sense to allow: " , ', : , ; , $ , . , ! , ? , - , _ , @ , & , ( , ). They cover situations when someone may put an email address or phone number in the body section for the email.  I also want to allow letters and numbers.    I'm not sure if it's best to allow the characters I mentioned or not allow characters that pose a potential threat.  I think allowing the ones I want is the best way, but I'm not sure.  Can someone please give an example and/or suggestions?  Are there other characters that should be allowed?  I don't have much yet: "^(?i)[a-z0-9\s]{1,150}$"

Creating a "Save Button" in a browser based Form

I'm not sure if I'm missing something obvious, but I need to have the funtionality of the "Save Button", which is available and works on the tool bar, available in the form...and I can't seem figure out how to do it.I've found examples, in this forum, of how to use the "Submit Button" to act as the "Save Button", which did work for me, but only when specific basic criteria was met.The criteria that I now have is that I'm initiating a workflow to automatically start when a new item is created.  My workflow then moves the form to one of a few possible different form libraries, based on the logic in my workflow.  The different form libraries are to manage different teams of people that would have access to the Form and then that team would process the form accordingly. My specific situation: 1 - User opens a new form (works) 2 - User enters data and then submits the new form (works) 3 - Workflow is initiated and the form is moved to another form library to be worked on by a select group of people (works) 4 - The form is opened and reviewed and some changes are made to the form data by the select group of people (works) 5 - The form data in the form libary is updated (works, but only if the save button is pressed in the tool bar and then manually closes t

Contact Form Issues

I was hoping someone could assist with this issue I am experiencing.  I have a contact form on my ASP.net page.  Everything works great, but I keep getting blank messages sent to my email address.  It seems to be some sort of SPAM?  Could someone please tell me why this is happening, and what I would need to do to prevent it from happening in the future?

Automatically populating Contact Selector not working in Form Services

Hi,I'm currently working on a form where i wan't to automatically populate a contact selector control with a users manager. I've got the managers userid, called the ResolvePrincipal webservice provided by sharpoint, and set all the values in the contact selector with the correct values. When previewing it works perfectly however when i move the form to Form Services it won't work.I've tried setting it via rules: i.e. on the change of a textbox write the manager values to the contact selector.I've tried setting the default values of the contact selector to fields where i write the manager values.I've tried setting it through code i.e. SelectSingleNode() and SetValue() for each of the fields in the contact selector. All of which work fine in preview mode but will not work in Form Services, UNLESS the contact selector already has a user in it. So if the contact selector is blank it won't work, however as soon as i manually select a user then try using any of the previously mentioned methods of setting the control it works. While using code i get a nullreferenceexception which leads me to think that possibly when theres no user in the control the xml nodes representing the AccountId, DisplayName, AccountType don't exit???? TO throw another spanner in the works, on the very odd occasion it will work in Form Services as expected, after celebrating and trying again it returns

Contact Selector Failed in MOSS Workflow Modification Infopath Form

Hi,   In my proof of concept Moss 2007 WF, I tested an Infopath modification form successfully.  Then the contact selector ActiveX control was added but it failed to open using the modification link of the workflow page.  In a different form for the WF initiation, I similarly created two CS controls and it worked there.  A snippet of the MOSS error is below   Object reference not set to an instance of an object.   at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.ContactPicker.RenderClientViewDataLeafContent(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext renderContext, ControlViewData controlViewData, ScriptWriter writer)    at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.LeafControl.RenderClientViewDataContent(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext renderContext, ScriptWriter writer)    at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.BaseControl.RenderClientViewData(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext renderContext, ScriptWriter writer)    at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.ContainerControl.RenderClientViewDataContent(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext renderContext, ScriptWriter writer)    at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.BaseControl.RenderClientViewData(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext renderContext, ScriptWriter writer)    at Microsoft.Office.InfoPath.Server.Controls.CollectionControl.RenderClientViewDataContent(XPathNavigator context, IRenderContext rend

namespace of fields problem when creating form template from xml?

I created a form template from a predefined xml, where I do not have any namespace. Later I added more fields. The output xml of the form is for the fields from the xml they have not prefix, for those added later, they have prefix my. I already have them all done. How can I make them consistent to have prefix my? Is there any options in InfoPath to turn on or off the prefix my?   thanks,

Creating a form with an unknown number of rows

Hi everyone, I'm pretty new at ASP .NET but not to ASP.  I've got a form I need to create where I don't know how many entries will be added.  It has the following format: "Age"             "Duration"      "Period of Duration"     "etc..." Last30Days 1-5 Months ago 6-11 Months ago Age Age Age etc. So the Age column always has the first 3 options and then an unknown number of Age values that can be inserted.  I've created a table that has the first four fields (Last30days, 1-5months, 6-11months, age)  and I was thinking I could just order by those 4 columns for display.  The problem I have is I'm not sure on how to proceed.  Does anyone have any good ideas on how to handle this situation?  Ideally data entry people could use the same form for both entering and displaying the data.  Thanks.

Creating views on a form does not allow Hyperlinks to be clicked.

I have successfully created an Info Path 2010 form which 5 views.  On each view it has a raft of information, on some of the views they are multiselect items to other sharepoint lists.  This is the basic make up of the form. The form is about Software Application information. Page 1 is General Information Page 2 Environment Page 3 Support This form is the form that opens for the SP list called Software Applications. When I open this list it shows the Software Application list as expected.  When I click on one of these applications it brings up the form mentioned.  The problem is, when the form loads it does not show the other views, so I am unable to change views.  If I am to change views I must first select EDIT and then the views are available.  The problems is when selecting the other views I can not select the hot links to the other items.  This is a major pain.  The only way I can see around this is only containing one view with the information broken up on one huge page. :(  Any ideas?

Error creating edit form for external list - Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFO

For the last few days we have been unable to create custom new/edit forms for External Lists in Sharepoint Designer.  When i try to create a form Sharepoint Designer show the message 'Could not save the list changes to the server'.  The corresponding message in the ULS log file is 'Failed to find the default form for PAGETYPE PAGE_NEWFORM'.  Does this mean i have somehow managed to break the form templates for External Lists?

I saw some other posts about the 'Could not save the list changes to the server' error and followed the suggested steps including removing all versions of the list and related content type, and recreatign htem but this didn't work.

Creating a fill in form and also a help desk ticket form in Sharepoint.

I want to do two things in Sharepoint. First to create a fill in form where users would be able to fill in information & submit the form. It will get routed to me. Secondly, I want to create a help desk kind of thing in Sharepoint.

I know infopath could be used for creation of forms , but I don't have access to infopath. If anyone could send me a link to download it free, that would be great. otherwise, I would be interested in knowing other ways to accomplish same results.

Thanks in advance

Creating a Custom List Definition that uses InfoPath Form

Hi,

I have created a custom list definition in Visual Studio 2010.  By default it is using the out of the box "pages\form.aspx" for the New/Edit/Display form rendering.

I am just wondering if it is possible to use an InfoPath form as default for the New/Edit/Display form?

I have tried to create a custom list with custom info path form thru the UI, and export the site as WSP.  I have analysed the files and notice a few things:

1.) I need to add a XmlDocument section in the Schema.xml for displayifs/editifs/newifs.aspx

2.) I need to provision the xsn in "Lists/{List Name}/Item"

3.) I need to provision the *ifs.aspx in "Lists/{List Name}/Item"

As you see, some of the settings required the {List Name}.  That's mean I can't really create a list definition that is reusable because I need to know the List Name before hand. Is there any way to specify the path with some kind of variable instead of static list name?

Furthermore, I notice that the "Developer" tab is missing from the Ribbon when I modify form, hence I can do any code behind.  Is this a limitation, or is there a workaround?

Thanks,
