The "Windows Package Manager" has the error "Operation failed with 0x80070643" and "Fatal error during installation."
I have tried a few basic approaches to the installation problem, including downloading the ISO image to a different computer. I have burned the ISO image onto four different DVDs using different media and two computers but only succeeded in verifying
the burned media is Ok. I have verified the SHA1 key with the two installation ISO images that were downloaded. I have tried repairing the installation, but that generated a different kind of error message, "Error 1316.A network error occurred
while attempting to read from the file E:\1033_ENU_LP\x64\setup\SSCERuntime_x86-enu.msi". And then there is the "SQL Server 2008 R2 Setup has stopped working" message indicating "Windows is checking for a solution to the problem...".
How fatal are the errors being encountered? Is everything Ok? How can I test that SQL Server 2008 R2 is fully functional?
