Two separate boxes running SQL Server 2008 R2. On box A we have the principal database. Box B holds both the mirror and the witness. We are using the Mirroring Wizard. Both boxes are on the same domain.
We followed the following steps to try and establish the mirror:
Backed up the database from box A
Backed up the transaction log from box A
Restored the backup on box B using the RESTORE WITH NORECOVERY option
Restored the transaction log on box B using the RESTORE WITH NORECOVERY option
Run the mirrorring wizard on box A
At this point I get an error message saying that the mirror database on box B cannot be reached (Error: 1481). The mirror database on box B is in the "Recovering" state because we used the RESTORE WITH NORECOVERY option. It's interesting to note
that if we restore the database on box B using RESTORE WITH RECOVERY, we then get the same error message but this time it says that the principal database on box A cannot be reached.
