Custom "Remember me next time"

Hello everybody. I am learning the login control. ASP.NET Videos are really helpful. So what I did so far I am showing you : This is the login div of MasterPage.master : <div id="login"> <p style="padding-top: 30px; text-align:center"> <asp:LoginView ID="MasterLoginView" runat="server"> <LoggedInTemplate> Welcome <asp:LoginName ID="MasterLoginName" runat="server" /> </LoggedInTemplate> <AnonymousTemplate> Welcome Guest </AnonymousTemplate> </asp:LoginView> </p> <p style="text-align: center"> [ <asp:LoginStatus ID="MasterLoginStatus" runat="server" LogoutAction="Redirect" LogoutPageUrl="~/LoggedOut.aspx" /> ]   </p> </div> This is the Login.aspx :<%@ Page Language="C#" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" AutoEventWireup="true" CodeFile="Login.aspx.cs" Inherits="Login" Title="Untitled Page" %><asp:Content ID="MainContent" ContentPlaceHolderID="MainContentPlaceHolder" Runat="Server"><h1>Please Login</h1><div style="width: 245px; height: 100px; padding: 20px 20px

"Remember Me Next Time" under Login Control is not working

I am using VS 2005 and created a Login control. Login control provides "Remember Me Next Time" check box, I check this box but it does not remember next time. I have following entry in the web.config file <authentication mode="Forms"> <forms name=".MyCookies" loginUrl="login.aspx" protection="All" timeout="5000000" cookieless="UseCookies" slidingExpiration="true" path="\"></forms> </authentication> What am I missing? Remember me and Remember my password?

Hello everybody.I am new in ASP.NET. I have few questions :In login control of asp.net there is a remember me checkbox. What is the functionality of this checkbox? What it does basically? Is there any way to put space between checkbox and its associated label?I saw Windows Live login control has an extra checkbox Remember my password? How can we achieve this feature in our custom login control?I have read many tutorials but I can not able to solve my queries. Any information regarding these will be very helpful to me.Thank you.

Remember me next time doesn't work

In the login control, the "Remember me next time" checkbox does not appear to work.

If I check it when logging in, when I log in the next time, even a minute later, I go to the login page again.

It seems the cookie is not being written to the client.  Can't find it anywhere.

My web.config contains:

    <authentication mode="Forms">
      <forms slidingExpiration="true" timeout="525600"/>

Your help would be much appreciated (any code snippets preferably in VB, please).

Thanking you in anticipation.

How to remember the selection checked/unchecked ToolStripMenuItem next time when user opens the appl

I have a menu item "Run at Windows Startup" on a form. It is checked by default. When its state is checked I create a shortcut file so it can start automatically when windows starts. And if its unchecked I delete the shortcut file so that it wont start. This function is written on the application's exit button.

But then, if user start the application manually from the start menu, as the "Run at Windows Startup" item is checked by default user has to uncheck it everytime s/he exits from the application.

So my questions, is there any easy way to remember this selection so user don't have to uncheck it each time s/he exits.

Issue with Remember Me on User Login control

Hi everyone,

     I hope you can help me, I tried Google, but none of the solutions worked. Using VB.net and Membership, I have a login control in my master page with a remember me check box. When I check this box and login, some pages indicate that I am not logged in. If I go to another page, it will then indicate that I am still logged in. I have isolated one page that always indicates I am not logged in the first time I visit it, but if log in a second time and then go to it, it will finally recognize me as a user that is properly logged in.

Some pages that this occurs on is in the top level, some pages are in a sub folder.

My MasterPage has the following Form Code:

<body bgcolor="#E0ECF9" topmargin="0" leftmargin="0">

    <form id="form1" runat="server">

My Aspx file has a troubleshooting label, several Gridviews and several DetailViews:

    <asp:Label ID="lblErRep" runat="server" Text=""></asp:Label>

My aspx.vb file has 1 line of code (Protec

"Remember me" cookie not saved properly

Hello, everybody.
I have several sites that are diffierentiated like below:
The main site( site A ) is like this: www.ab.siteName.cd.domainName.com
Another site ( site B ) is like this: www.ab.siteName.cd.domainName.com/br

windows 7/vista unable to remember

I don't know if this is the right place for the question. It's related to sharepoint.. but the problem (i think) lies in the client side.
We've got a problem with remembering credentials on a network drive to a sharepoint portal. A client vista or W7 computer maps z: to a sharepoint portal for easy access to a document library. Everything works, but after every reboot the client has to reenter the password. The client os displays the password in the vault. But is doesn't remember the password for the mapping. adding ip, dns name etc to trusted or intranet zones didn't work. setting the security in the GPO Network security: LAN Manager authentication level to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated" didn't work either.

Is there something I'm missing here?

Need to identify if Remember Me was set or not

I am using Form Based Authentication in my application. I am using standard method to create FormsAuthentication cookie using

FormsAuthentication.SetAuthCookie('username', boolRememberMe)

FormsAuthenticationTicket ticket = new FormsAuthenticationTicket(1,

                   username, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now.AddMinutes(60),
                   remember, UserObject.Entity.UserName);

When clicked on particular URL, i need to pass whether user has checked REMEMBER ME CHECKBOX while logging in. How can I determine this using FOrmsAuthentication mechanism?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Designer does not remember my settings, for ex., I want to always load xaml into xaml (code) view, n

I am using VS 2010 Ultimate.  It is not remembering my setup when opening .xaml files.  It is very annonying.  I  am pretty sure VS remembers things like that.

I prefer to load my .xaml file to see the code only.  So I usually minimize the design tab.  However, I have to do this every time I open a .xaml file.

I am getting the feeling this setting is stored at the .sln level, which is even more annonying, it should be global setting for all VS sessions.

Any advice?

Accordion Control in MasterPage does not remember its SelectedIndex

Hey guys, I hope anybody out there could help me!

I've been Googling for so long now and I cannot find a straight answer or correct solution to my problem (especially when I'm a novice at JavaScript/C#!).

I have got an Accordion Control on my MasterPage which acts as a menu. My problem is that when I click on a button within the content pane it displays a new page within the ContentPlaceHolder, but the Accordion resets itself back to SelectedIndex = 0. How can I keep the SelectedIndex = 1 open when I'm response.redirected to another page?

I have heard about sessions but I can't make any sense of them. Any suggestions or solutions would be great!

Many thanks.

Remember me and timeout help

I'm using forms security and have it set up like this"

		<authentication mode="Forms">
			<forms name="footballmn" cookieless="UseCookies" timeout="500000" protection="Encryption"/>

When I don't check remember me the cookie is set to expire when the browser closes, when I do check remember me the cookie is set to expire in a couple years.

I can then close my browser and go to the site without having to log in, but will be required to log in after 30 minutes.  What am I doing wrong?

<authentication mode="Forms">
<forms name="footballmn" cookieless="UseCookies" timeout="500000" protection="Encryption"/>

Remember the last combobox item selected.

    I have this combobox and I have binded the combobox to the class which inturn is binded with the Database Column so that the items of the combobox is dynamic. If we add the items to the database column the combobox's item is also updated. Now I want the combobx to remember the last item selected. I have created a new table in the database so that I can store the last selected value.

its designer xaml

Round off time to the nearest minute

How would you round this up to the nearest minute? There isn't a built in function to do this so you have to use a little bit of maths to get there. There are 60 seconds in a minute. We already have 38 seconds on the clock. So we need to add on 60 - 38 = 22 more seconds.

Performance Tests: Precise Run Time Measurements with System.Diagnostics.Stopwatch

Everybody who does performance optimization stumbles sooner or later over the Stopwatch class in the System.Diagnostics namespace. And everybody has noticed that the measurements of the same function on the same computer can differ 25% -30% in run time. This article shows how single threaded test programs must be designed to get an accuracy of 0.1% - 0.2% out of the Stopwatch class. With this accuracy, algorithms can be tested and compared.
