During Farm/Custom install on an Ent. 2008R2 VM with SQL 2008R2 installed. Using SW_DVD5_Office_SharePoint_Server_2010_64Bit_English_MLF_X16-43564.ISO from MAP. Error: SharePoint Error 1335. The cabinet file 'STS.CAB' required... Install must be cancelled as Retry does no good. ISO from Partner site. Hyper-V in Ent. 2008R2 connected to DVD drive. All is 64 bit. Could this be related to something in Pre-requisites or just a bad image from MS site?

Unsupported 16-bit application error during SharePoint 2010 Prerequisites Installation

On Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit when installing SharePoint 2010 Prerequisites, I get the following error on the step "Installing Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5"

Unsupported 16-bit application
The program or feature "\??\C:\Users\AbcdUser\AppData\Local\Temp\ChaE305.tmp.exe" cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit versions of windows. Please contact the software vendor to ask if a 64-bit compatible version is available.

Can someone please shed a light on how I can get Microsoft Chart Controls for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 installed on 64-bit Windows Server 2008 R2, so I can proceed to install remaining prerequisites required by SharePoint 2010?

Cannot install Sharepoint Server 2010 "A previous installation has been detected with a license type

I'm trying to upgrade to Team Foundation Server 2010 and Project Server 2010. After getting TFS 2010 and Project Server 2007 to work with WSS 3.0, I started upgrade to Project Server 2010 which requires update to Sharepoint Server 2010 Enterprise. I installed pre-requisites and run "stsadm -o preupgradecheck" which passed everything. When I tried to run the installation I get Setup Warning "A previous installation has been detected with a license type that does not match the install in progress". I thought that my trial licence for Project Server 2007 stopped this so I completely uninstalled WSS 3.0 and restarted the server but the installation still stops with Upgrade window. Any ideas? Error creating Read Item or Read List operation in Sharepoint Designer 2010

In terms of high-level requirements, I need to pull in lists from a couple of different web apps.  To do this, I’m using SPD 2010 to create an External Content Type for the list of interest.  I’m able to create a SOAP Service or WCF Service connection just fine.  However, when I try to create the external content type and create a Read Item Operation on one of the GetList or any other Get* (or other Update methods for that matter) methods, I get the following error:"The method that your operation is based on has parameters with complex types that do not have default parameterless constructor.  This kind of data source methods cannot be used in Business Data Catalog."I tried defining an operation on the “AddAttachment” method, and that worked just fine.  I also tried providing default values to the listName and viewName parameters when creating the SOAP Service connection, but still get the error.  Same issue with a WCF Service connection as well. Does anyone know if this is a 2010 issue, or am I approaching this requirement incorrectly?  What are other approaches for connecting to lists that reside in a different web app than yours?

How to troubleshoot a SharePoint 2010 error

When an error occurs within Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 a Correlation ID will be displayed in the error message: This Correlation ID is logged within the SharePoint log files and you can use it to find out more details about the error that occurred.  The two pieces of information you will need from the error message above are the Correlation ID and the date and time of the error.  Once you have those two pieces of information, browse to the SharePoint log files on your SharePoint server located at: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\14\LOGS The log files will be labeled with a date time stamp so find the one that corresponds to the time frame of the error and then open this log file in Notepad (or the text editor of your choice) and search for the Correlation ID.  You will probably find it listed in several places, from the beginning GET request to when the error occurred, and finally to when the logging of correlation data stops.  Of course you are probably most interested in the error message but there will be more information in the log associated with the Correlation ID to help you find the root cause of the error.
