Excel Web Part - different Powerpivot Slicer disabled tue to sharepoint users

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :SharePoint
Hello, first of all i'm new to sharepoint. I found quite similar question to mine http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/sharepoint2010general/thread/9f23a77c-1527-48a8-abbc-2ccded736d9e but unfortunately it hasn't been answered. So what i have done so far: I made a Excel 2010 Powerpivot chart and Published it to sharepoint via the Powerpivot gallery. I also created a Excel web part with the spreadsheed in it. I am searching for a vba script to achieve the sharepoint username but found only some for the windows username. I also managed to disable slicers in vba. What i want to achieve: Due to the fact that the Powerpivot chart has some critical security data in it the different users should only see two different filter options (whole data and one slice for themself) So i need to disable slicers in the pivot chart tue to the sharepoint accounts. My Qestion: Is it possible? If yes, how! Any help would be appreciated. Is it possible via VBA or do i have to use Excel web scervices?  Thanks for your help :)

Error Message PowerPivot Excel on SharePoint : "Excel was unable to get necessary information about

Hello everybody:

I get the error message “Excel was unable to get necessary information about this cube. The cube might have been reorganized or changed on the server” when I open the excel on the sharePoint site and the PowerPivot Datasource is already refreshed successfully on schedule.

I describe my steps more clearly.

  • Step1. Create Excel pivot tables and charts by using PowerPivot datasource which connects to SQL Server.
  • Step2. Publish Excel to SharePoint site. The Analysis Server will build a PowerPivot cube in "VertiPaq" StorageEngineMode automatically and the cube name including an "uniqueindentifier" in the end.
  • Step3. Schedule PowerPivot refresh plan on SharePoint and the successful result comes out soon. After PowerPivot refreshed the "uniqueindentifier" will be changed to another one automatically.
  • Step4. When I open excel on the SharePoint I will get the error message again. If I click the "ok" then Excel will really Refresh.

Now I have tried two ways:

  1. Locale setting: Doesn't work. It seems not to be the cause of my problem because it won't happen if my excel's datasource is connecting to DB or Cube directly.

Enabling Users to Maintain SharePoint Content

When SharePoint is installed as a corporate intranet, there is a considerable amount of effort involved in maintaining the content to keep the site relevant. As we discussed in the first few parts of this series, SharePoint has many built-in features to reduce the burden on the site administrator.

Some areas of the site usually contain less-dynamic information. Internal memos and corporate policies are common examples of this information. One option for this information is to post these documents in a document library. Documents in a library are often stored in a few different formats: Word, Acrobat (PDF), or HTML. Each of these formats has its drawbacks.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 1 of 2

In this first part of the two part series, Steven covers the differences between Site and Application pages in SharePoint 2007, why each may be used in various circumstances, and prepares for the construction of a menu located application page. After a brief introduction he examines the concept of Site Pages and Application Pages separately in detail with supported screenshots.

SharePoint Application and Site Pages - Part 2 of 2

As the second article in a two part series, Steven examines the attributes and details of a SharePoint 2007 application page, including the construction and feature deployment of the same page based project. Since this is a WSS level objective, as opposed to MOSS, you will not need MOSS to work with the code included in this project. Windows Server 2003, WSS, and Visual Studio 2005 are all that is needed, with no additional add-ons. He provides a detailed analysis of each step involved in the creation and deployment of the project.

Export SharePoint List to Excel Spreadsheet Programmatically using C#

In SharePoint applications, Custom Lists are used to store business data and Document Libraries to store the documents. But for data manupulation and analysis, Microsoft Excel provides very rich features as compared to SharePoint Lists. That's why people still loves to work on Microsoft Excel Sheets.

Choosing Between a User Control or Web Part for SharePoint

SharePoint will only display Web Parts on a page. However, there are publicly available shims that allow you to write user controls and have them be displayed as a Web Part. From SharePoint's point of view, the shim is a Web Part. From the point of view of the user control, the shim is simply a control in .NET that is including the user control

Track: SharePoint for Developers - Part 1

Are you a developer who wants to learn more about Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS)? MOSS is based on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services, which will make it easier for you to get more problems solved with less effort. Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 takes full advantage of Microsoft ASP.NET and the Microsoft .NET runtime. In this course, you will be immersed in the new features and added programmability that is support in MOSS, which will provide you with a wealth of development opportunities.

Upload a File to a SharePoint Document Library - Part I

The following helper class demonstrates a few techniques that allow documents to be uploaded to a SharePoint document library programmatically without using the API or a custom web service. You don't need to specify a document library name, and it will create any folders specified in the URL as required. File meta data will be updated if any properties are passed.

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Creating a Basic SharePoint Web Part

This programming task includes the steps for creating a basic custom Windows SharePoint Services Web Part. It is a simple Web Part that allows you to change the Web Part's Title property, which is a Windows SharePoint Services WebPart base class property that sets the text in the title bar of the Web Part.

Web Parts: Use Windows SharePoint Services as a Platform for Building Collaborative Apps, Part 2

Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003, which is part of the Office System, lets you create and manage virtual servers, site collections, sites, workspaces, and users. You can also use the Windows SharePoint Services object model to design and implement user-targeted applications. In the second part of a two part series, the authors take a look at the WSS and SPS object models, Web Part Page anatomy, creating and deploying Web Parts, and Web Part security. They also discuss Web Part infrastructure and how to create custom Web Parts.

SharePoint Blog - Admin web part - newBlogPostOnClient JavaScript function

In the Admin Links web part in a default blog site, there are several links, the last one of which launches Microsoft Word and allows you to manage your posts from the Word blog template.  Cool feature.  But that web part is not configurable and I can't figure out how to duplicate that functionality.  It appears to have 3 GUIDS that are part of the function, part of the last parameter looks like the Posts list GUID, but it is concatenated with another GUID.   I want to either create my own web part or modify the XSL of the page to call the function, but I'm not sure what those other GUID parameters are.  Does anyone know?  The last one seems to be two of the separated by the # character.
