Either from Microsoft Web Platform Installer or from the MYSQL site, the .msi file, MYSQL does not complete the installation. Removing to then reinstall never completes the installation.
I have searched far and wide to try and figure 'why I can not install MYSQL' and installation has 'came very close' except -
At the password panel, there is 'the old', the new and the confirm the new password. No clue what 'the old' password is. I have installed, removed, installed to then have the Windows application 'hang' at the final, write the config files.
There must be a 'file somewhere', a Registry key some place that is not 'cleared' but at this time, my investigation (no real clue where to look-no solution found so far) has yet discovered what to do.
The host system is Microsoft Vists Office, UAC disabled for MYSQL installation, not too sure-still looking/learning about TCIP port 3360 blocking with Nortons 360 (I believe some change is necessary).
