MYSQL will not/can not complete installation ???

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Either from Microsoft Web Platform Installer or from the MYSQL site, the .msi file, MYSQL does not complete the installation. Removing to then reinstall never completes the installation. I have searched far and wide to try and figure 'why I can not install MYSQL' and installation has 'came very close' except - At the password panel, there is 'the old', the new and the confirm the new password. No clue what 'the old' password is. I have installed, removed, installed to then have the Windows application 'hang' at the final, write the config files. There must be a 'file somewhere', a Registry key some place that is not 'cleared' but at this time, my investigation (no real clue where to look-no solution found so far) has yet discovered what to do. The host system is Microsoft Vists Office, UAC disabled for MYSQL installation, not too sure-still looking/learning about TCIP port 3360 blocking with Nortons 360 (I believe some change is necessary). Added info about 'stuff' in the Registery - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftware/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQL2/Setup - AssociatedHotfixBuild REG_SZ 3229 Software/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server/MSSQLServer/SuperSocketNetLib/LastConnect -BVTSQL1 REG_SZ 1762131977:tcp:BVTSQL1,1433 ROBERTBBENSON\SQLEXPRESS REG_SZ -66387959:np:\\.\PIPE\MSSQL$SQLEXPRESS\SQL\QUERY The problem is that the uninstaller shipped with the server fails to uninstall th

"sqlrun_sql.msi" needed to complete Visual Studio 2005 SQL server installation

I had a hard drive failure at work so had to reinstall my whole development environment :(

I installed Windows 7 Professional.

I installed Visual Studio 2005 full install.

It suggested I installed Service Packs for the components to make them compatitible with Windows 7.

Windows update attempted to install "Security Update for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3" which always fails.

I looked at the help that came with the failure error and it said to got to "Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Visual Studio 2005 SQL Server -> Change" then finish up the suspended installation.

I do this and the installation asks for "sqlrun_sql.msi" which I cannot find on any installation disc or anywhere on the internet.

I have tried to repair Visual Studio 2005 and that didn't help.

Will reinstalling Visual Studio 2005 help.

This is so annoying as everytime I shutdown, windows trys to install the VS SQL update and it fails.

Any ideas?

Fabulous 40 for SP 2010 - Installation Complete but Templates not visible

I downloaded and intalled some of the great fabulous 40 solutions. First of all checked all prerequisites and turned features on if needed:

- SharePoint Server Enterprise Site Collection features (OK)
- SharePoint Server Publishing Infrastructure (OK)
- Sharepoint 2007 workflows (OK)

- SharePoint Server Standard Site features (OK)
- SharePoint Server Publishing (OK)

Then uploaded the solutions and activated them. They show pretty good in the solutions list. But I can't see each of them when creating a new website. I am using the German version of sharepoint. Does this matter?

Individual field - MySQL

I was wondering how to recieve an individual field from my MySQL database.

I have been able to get a row, but what I am trying to do is get a name from my database and set it into the HeaderText in my DataGrid.

The way I am trying to do it at the moment is

using (OdbcCommand cmd = new OdbcCommand(formQuery, con))
                formDataGrid.Columns[0].HeaderText = cmd.ExecuteReader(
                    CommandBehavior.CloseConnection |

This doesn't seem to get a value from the GetValue, but if use

using (OdbcCommand cmd = new OdbcCommand(formQuery, con))
                formDataGrid.DataSource = cmd.ExecuteReader(
                    CommandBehavior.CloseConnection |

it will bind my data into the grid.

I just want to be able to change the HeaderText in the first coulmn of the DataGrid from one table and have the DataGrid be filled from another table.

I can fill the DataGrid its just changing the HeaderText that I am having trouble with.

Any help?

Bootstrapper: Use the Visual Studio 2005 Bootstrapper to Kick-Start Your Installation

There are plenty of times when you need to get information on running processes, not the least of which is during performance tuning. Using the techniques in this article and special .NET classes you'll see how to get a process' ID, name, priority, number of threads, kernel handle, and memory consumption, as well as its user-mode, kernel-mode, and total elapsed running time and put them to use in a custom app called AssemblyBrowser.

Convert .docx to web page - "the converter cannot complete the task because an internal error occurr

I'm trying to convert docx files to webpages to be published in to a library elsewhere on our sharepoint site. At first I was having no problem, the files were converting, however more recent files have returned the error: the converter cannot complete the task because an internal error occurred

I've tried writing, uploading and converting a simple docx file, and this works which has led me to believe that the problem is something in the docx files that i'm trying to convert. So i tried using word07 to clean the documents up by clicking Office button>prepare>inspect document then removing all the metadata, custom xml etc from the files resave, upload and convert, but still no joy.

I'd simply rewrite the document but the problem is that there are a lot of them.

Any ideas what's going wrong?

MOSS 07 Installation Quirks - SSRS Connectivity & SSP Permissions

I'm new to MOSS 07 and am currently learning it.  I've done clean installs and post-install configuration a few times now and I've noticed 2 quirks associated with a fresh install.  I'm not sure what is going on or the best way to "fix" them.

1 - I install SQL 05 with SSRS prior to installing MOSS and I always check to make sure that SSRS is configured and I can connect to it in the SQL Management Studio.  Once the Default port 80 Web App is provisioned, however, I can no longer connect to SSRS via the SQL MS.  I understand that this is related to the fact that the default Web App that hosts the SSRS sites is the Default 80 Web Site and that this port is taken over by the SharePoint 80 portal.  My question is, how to handle this.  I understand that I can configure SSRS to run via SP Integration.  However, when I install SSRS 05 initially and prior to installing/configuring MOSS, should SSRS be installed under a separate Web App and Port than the Default?  Does SP Integration restore the ability to connect to SSRS via the SQL Mang. Studio?

2 - In an attempt to get used to a "production" way of doing things, I create Domain Service accounts for both installing MOSS and running the services.  My problem is with the results of using an installation account.  I call it "spinsta
