MVC Application not recognized by web server

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 07, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net
Hello,I uploaded my MVC2 application to my web hoster, but the web site does not run. When I request www.mysite.com, I just see the directory listing page of the root directory, and the web app does not execute. I don't see any error message, though. A normal Web Forms page works fine. Why is this? The web server is running ASP.NET 3.5 SP1. It does not have the MVC assembly installed in GAC, so I followed these instructions to upload the MVC assembly with my page: http://haacked.com/archive/2008/11/03/bin-deploy-aspnetmvc.aspx , but to no avail.

In this article, the author explores the application filter extensibility mechanism, which enables you to add high-level application layer filtering capabilities to ISA Server and to provide rich content filtering solutions. He also highlights the new features of the ISA Server 2004 SDK, then moves on to describe how to develop a basic application filter that monitors all data going through the ISA Server, and how to integrate a filter into the ISA Server management console to create a seamless interface experience for your users.

Error Handling: Throwing Custom Exception Types from a Managed COM+ Server Application

Exception handling semantics in .NET are based on type, so you can create custom exceptions that have their own properties and methods. In .NET, exceptions are first-class citizens, and since they're the built-in error handling mechanism, all .NET-compliant languages must support exceptions. In addition, COM+ services are available to .NET code as Enterprise Services, so you can leverage exceptions in your Enterprise Services design. In this article the author describes custom exceptions, throwing exceptions across COM interop boundaries, and working with Enterprise Services.

Server Farms: Application Center 2000 Offers World-Class Scalability

Application Center 2000 simplifies the deployment of a Microsoft .NET-based application to clusters, which are shared-nothing, loosely coupled computers that appear as one virtual computer. This allows all the computers in Application Center 2000 clusters to provide the same service or Web application at the same time. This article explains network load balancing and component load balancing for COM+ components with Application Center 2000. Accessing the features of Application Center 2000 though the MMC snap-in interface and the command-line interface for batching administrative tasks is also covered.

Upsize Your Database: Convert Your Microsoft Access Application to Take Advantage of SQL Server 7.0

What if you need to convert an existing Microsoft Access 97 database application into a true client-server application that is based on a SQL Server back end? If you know a little about Visual Basic and SQL Server, it's easy to make your app take advantage of the power and scalability provided by SQL Server 7.0. Using some concrete code examples, this article takes you step by step through converting the native Jet queries in your Access application into stored procedures and pass-through queries that SQL Server can use. You'll also learn how to pass on parameters when your client-server app calls these SQL Server stored procedures and queries.

Questions on Multi-Tenant Data Architecture for SQL Server Database and ASP.NET application

My company wants me to make the same asp.net application and sql server database be sharable amongst different clients. Clients will use the database for their own business use, will have their own data, we will have our own data. How can I share the same SQL Server database amongst different clients having same ASP.NET application (but somehow be able to differentiate which client user is logging in) ? Do I need to use ApplicationID and how will I detect at login which one to use ? I know I will need to add another field in all tables to differentiate client's data from ours.

Search Server Express 2010 - Access Denied when attempting to manage Search Service Application or P

I first noticed this error with the Search Service Application when I was no longer able to use the search portal, but have since noticed the issue with the PowerPoint Service Application.  When I navigate in Central Administration to either the "Farm Search Administration" or the "Manage service applications" pages and attempt to manage the "Search Service Application", I get this error: Error: Access Denied  Current User You are currently signed in as:  WHEELERS\MyUserName   Sign in as a different user    I have tried removing the service application and re-adding it, changing the application pool to running under an existing application pool as the farm administrator, as another application pool with the same identity as the primary web application, and as another application pool running under the SP-SearchService identity. The big recent change with SharePoint, aside from fixing the previous issue where I was incorrectly using CNAMEs with Kerberos, was to switch the main web application to claims authentication. That site correctly works with claims based authentication and Kerberos.

Don't see tab and toolbar of the report manager application after installing sql server reporting s

Hello everyone: I have tried to install and configure Reporting Service. I found lots of  errors along the way. The first one was an error (500.23) from IIS7. I applied the suggested solution on the IIS screen which was migrating configuration using AppCmd ( %SystemRoot%\system32\inetsrv\appcmd migrate config "Default Web Site/"). Next problem was  : Request is not available in this context Stack Trace: [HttpException (0x80004005): Request is not available in this context] System.Web.HttpContext.get_Request() +3465893 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.Global.get_ConfigurationManager() +47 Microsoft.ReportingServices.UI.GlobalApp.Application_Start(Object sender, EventArgs e) +32  This error was caused by the fact that Report Server and Report Manager were configured to DefaultAppPool in the Reporting Service Configuration Manager. I have switched to Classic .Net AppPool  for both Report Server and Report Manager and it has fixed the problem. Now my problem is that the Report Manager Application ( http://localhost/reports/folders.aspx ) shows no tab, toolbar or folder. What I now have on the Report Manage Application page is the header with the title and [home] and [Help] button links on the top right corner. I have made a report to test the problem but no folder shows o

Server Error in '/' Application

Verify that you have typed the URL correctly. If the URL should be serving existing content, the system administrator may need to add a new request URL mapping to the intended application   Could you please help me?   Thank you, Bogdan

VBA application can no longer access SQL Server

For a not-for-profit organization (www.ace-event.org ), I developed a simple MS Word application. Basically, upon opening the app, it accesses data on a remote SQL Server to populate a form, which is then used to generate a document. I used www.ConnectionStrings.com to help configure the DSN-less connection. The application, which was developed in April 2009 under XP Pro and Office 2003 ran perfectly through Jan 2010. The reason for my posting should be obvious – the application no longer runs. I have tried running it on three different computer with XP Pro/Office 2003, XP Pro/Office 2007, and Win7/Office 2010 respectively. In all cases, I get the error: Run-time error ‘-2147467259 (80004005)’: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified I cannot be 100% certain that the error code returned was the same in each case. I am, however, 100% certain that the code is completely identical to that which ran previously and that the error occurs before any network access occurs. Here is the connection string code:     Set cn = New ADODB.Connection     cn.ConnectionString = "Driver={SQL Native Client};Server=<ip_address>\sqlexpress,1433;Database=<db_name>;Uid=<UID>;Pwd=<PWD>"     cn.CursorLocation = adUseClient     cn.Open I have
