I am attempting to do a backup of the Server Master Key but it fails.
The error message I am receiving is as follows:
Msg 15240, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Cannot write into file 'C:\Users\harvey norman\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio Express\SQLEXPR2008ADV_ServerMasterKey'. Verify that you have write permissions, that the file path is valid, and that the file does not already exist.
The PC I am running SQL 2008 Express (64 bit) is running on Vista Ultimate (64-bit) SP2.
The SQL I wrote is as follows:
BACKUP SERVICE MASTER KEY TO FILE = 'C:\Users\harvey norman\Documents\SQL Server Management Studio Express\SQLEXPR2008ADV_ServerMasterKey' ENCRYPTION BY PASSWORD = '??'
Note that the ?? represents the password but is not actually the password for obvious reasons.
I am logged in to the PC as a user with Admin permissions. I had a look at the destination folder, and it shows I have full control.
So, I am mystified.
If somebody could advise me I would really appreciate it.
Many thanks in advance.
