SSRS permission problems

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server

Good day. I have some problems with permissions in ssrs 2005. 1) I have created report in BIDS. Report consist of some fields, some of them have subreports. I can open project with no problems(local admin) but other user, which i give permission to view it, cant view parent report, but can view subreport. I noticed, that users can open simple reports and cant open reports with subreports. Its shows next error: An error has occurred during report processing. (rsProcessingAborted) Cannot create a connection to data source . (rsErrorOpeningConnection) For more information about this error navigate to the report server on the local server machine, or enable remote errors In event viewer on server i can see Failure Audit event with "login failed "username"".   2)Second problem is that i cant publish reports from BIDS to report server(im developing it on server) when all other users of server can.     Will be gratefull for any help.

SSRS 2008 R2 and sharepoint 2007 report builder problems

I upgraded our enterprise sql server 2008 to sql server 2008 r2 last weekend.  Along with this i installed the report builder 3.0 on the servers as well and the updated ssrs add in for sharepoint.  The upgrade went fine, no errors that i could find.  The problem is now when i go to a library that has the report builder content type enabled and click report builder report under new it does not load report builder 3.0.

I updated the custom report builder url in central administration from /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_2_0_0_0.application to /_vti_bin/ReportBuilder/ReportBuilder_3_0_0_0.application

however when i do click the new report builder report it kicks me over to http://company.com/ReportServer_MossEnt  which itemizes out each individual sharepoint site in the farm.

Is the integration of ssrs 2008 r2, sharepoint 2007 and report builder 3.0 work?  did i install the wrong version of the report builder add in?  The above is the only problem i am having now.

all servers are server 2008, 64 bit and moss 2007 enterprise with sp2 & april 2010 cu

Problems passing parameters to SSRS report from ASP.Net web page

I have a web page that displays some data.   When they click a submit button, I want to run a report.  But I would like to pass the start year/month and end year/month values that the user already entered on the web page to the report.  Here is what my url looks like when the report is displayed: http://xyzserver/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fReports%2fDevicesAllNew&rs:Command=Render&StartYYMM=201007&EndYYMM=201008 But my report displays the 2 textboxes for my StartYYMM and EndYYMM parameters as empty.  What am I doing wrong?  I did a google search and I saw something about using ReportServer instead of ReportManager.  I notice at the top of the browser when I run my report, it reads "Report Manager - Windows Internet Explorer".  Is this correct? Problems with SSRS 2008 and SSL

I've managed to run into a pretty specific problem while setting up SSL on SSRS 2008.  I'm using a self-signed certificate for testing purposes, and just finished reinstalling Reporting Services to clear out any problems I introduced in earlier flailing about. If I set up SSL only connections for the Web Service URL and Report Manager URL, the ReportServer address works fine with https, but the Reports address returns this error: The remote name could not be resolved: <server url> However, if I then set up an http address for the Web Service URL, they both work fine. Going into the reportserver.config file at this point, I can switch the SecureConnectionLevel parameter to a value of 2, and the Reports address again fails with the same error. I have put an address in the URLRoot section of reportserver.config, but whatever I put does not seem to have an effect on this problem.  Also, I'm not trying to do anything with the reports, only navigate to the directory, so the URLRoot section should not have any impact. The URLReservations section of reportserver.config looks like this (I've replaced the server URL and taken out the AccountSID and AccountName fields):     <URLReservations>         <Application>             <Name>ReportServerWebService<

Permission Problems

Boy, am i lost with this issue. I have 9 departmental sites and every site has a Document Library of which works using a workflow i setup from a microsoft site. Now when a user starts the workflow an email is sent to the user stating that the workflow has started and further down it lists the reviewers. Now the problem is on some sites the workflow email lists the reviewers and on some it does not, even though the permissions are identical, the workflows are all the same as i initially created one site and have just used it as a template and changed the names etc where applicable. It has to be a permission issue but i cant for the life of me see where!! Is there something i am missing??

Problems with SSRS 2008 Install when configuring a back-end database on a SQL Server 2008 R2 environ

We are tyring to configure SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS 2008) not the R2 version with a SQL Server 2008 R2 version of database. We are facing error when the configuration manager within SSRS tries to execute its scripts against the database. Do you think that SSRS 2008 may have trouble using a SQL Server 2008 R2 version as the back-end? Also, what kind of permissions does the ID installing SSRS needs to have on the SQL Server database ?  Not much is available in the documenation or online.

Strange Permission Problems with Sharepoint 2003

Hi We are having a problem with access permissions with sites created in Sharepoint.  We set the permissions for individual site via 'Site Settings' for that site and lock it down to certain individuals selected from Active Directory. However the problem is some users who are in the administrators Active Directory AD Group manage to get to access the site when they do not have any permissions set via 'site settings' Any ideas on why this is occuring and any possible solution. TIA

SSRS 2008 Cascading Parameter Problems

We are having a problem with dependent parameters.  Has anyone see something like this with ssrs 2008?  It is a show stopper for us.  After everything tested out ok (or with only minor gui bugs), we set a date to roll this to production.  With this recent discovery, we are unable to move forward until it is resolved.  We didn't notice it since there are a small number of our 400 some reports that do this type of thing.  Unfortunately, they are the most important in our organization.  These worked without a problem in 2005.

Sample below:

ReportMode (depends on what is selected in RunAsUser)

Avail: ID from ReportModeDataSet

Default: ID from ReportModeDataSet

Location (depends on what is selected in ReportMode)

Avail: ID from LocationDataSet

SSRS calculation problems

Hello Experts,
I have a SSRS reports that displays weekly sales and Store inventory levels. In this report, I have used a calculated member named "Branch Stock Value". And its expression is:

Fields!Store_Stock_Level.Value *(Fields!PS.Value - ((Fields!PS.Value * Fields!VAT_Rate.Value)/100))

Now, I would like to use another calculated member that uses this BranchStockValue member. My desires calculated member expression is:

BranchStockValue / SalesValue

I get divide by zero or other null errors. But the final purposed result is really very easy.

For example for the first line Branch Week Cover value should be 12544.36 / 1656.39 =  7.57

Please Help

SSRS 2008 R2 and Sharepoint 2010 - performance problems

Hi all,

I'm currently in a DWH project using SSRS 2008 R2 x64 in Sharepoint Integrated mode along with Sharepoint 2010, and we're seeing massive performance problems even though traffic on the server is at a bare minimum. We're in development with a maximum of a few users online at any given time and the server itself isn't doing a whole lot...cpu is usually < 20%. We have timed the database queries and 90% of them are taking less than a second to execute while reports takes anywhere from 5 to 30 seconds to load (some heavier reports can occasionally take a lot longer). I am simply unable to get anything to load in less than 5 seconds, even the simples grid from a SELECT TOP 5 * FROM table query takes this long.

The server setup is suboptimal as SQL Server, Reporting Services and Sharepoint are all running on the same virtual machine but with the minimal amount of traffic we have this shouldn't really be a problem. The server is a Win 2008 x64 Datacenter with 4 CPU's and 16GB RAM.

A standard sharepoint page that gets data from the database is returned in milliseconds...why doesn't reporting services do the same? What can I do to increase performance?

SharePoint Workflow and Permission Problems - User cannot edit assigned task

I've seen numerous posts on here talking about the same problem we're having, but the solutions listed in those do not work for us. So I apologize for reposting this subject, but we're getting desperate.

We have a custom workflow that is assigning a task to a user, then that user is clicking "edit the task" and getting access denied.  We've broken permission inheritance on the document library where the workflow is kicked off, the task list, and the workflow list (accessing through permissions in SPD) and given the user having the issue full control of these lists and libraries. This results in the user still getting access denied. When we add the user to the Owners Group of this particular site, the user can edit the task with no error message. This isnt' a solution of course as we cannot have the user in the owner's group.

We have custom workflows on several of our SharePoint sites and have never had this problem before. We've now spent a combined total of 6 hours on the phone with Microsoft Support and no one can tell us what the problem is. Help!

SSRS Reports deployed on sharepoint giving Permission Errors.

Dear All

We recently migrated our sharepoint from standalone to distributed environment.Everything is working fine except SSRS reports.

MOSS is on Server X and Databases,Report Server is on Database Y

Report Server is configured to run in SharePoint integrated mode.

Central Admin Settings are set as recommended by microsoft for distributed environment.

When i try to access reports or Report DataSource i get this error.

An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode. --> The permissions granted to user 'EMS\bmsadmin' are insufficient for performing this operation. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.AccessDeniedException: The permissions granted to user 'EMS\bmsadmin' are insufficient for performing this operation.

I have looked around everything and all setting seems fine. Single Domain Account is used for all services and Report Server service account as well.

.

Thanks

Dani

Top .NET Performance Problems and how to avoid them

Every time I work with one of our .NET customers to help them with managing their application performance I come across the same problems as seen with other clients before: lots of ADO.NET queries, many hidden exceptions in core or 3rd party .NET libraries, slow 3rd party components, inefficient custom code

Visual Studio 2008 Memory problems

My memory in task manager reaches about 900,000K  and I don't know why it does this. Definately slows everything down, especially when I rebuild my tableAdapters, takes about 30 seconds sometimes to rebuild the project.

Problems with Forms Authentication in DD 4 site

Hello,  I am seeing a strange problem with Forms Authentication in my DD site.   A user logs into and can view/edit/delete data all day, but when they execute a Custom Filter against data (for example , a control DynamicData/Filters/CustomerLastNameSearch.ascx ) then the site auth fails, and redirects to the log in screen.

in web.config I have

     <authentication mode="Forms">
            <forms name=".Star" loginUrl="~/Login.aspx" protection="All" defaultUrl="~/Default.aspx" path="/" timeout="43200" cookieless="UseCookies" />
        </authentication>

Offhand, I am thinking two things : that DynamicData/Filters path requires some special handling for some reason, or the control extension ascx is causing auth to get confused.   Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?  Thanks!

System.Security.SecurityException: Request for the permission of type 'System.Web.AspNetHostingPerm

Good Day all,

Having an issue with an outside user accessing my IIS7 box. I do not have this problem when running the website from my host machine. I found this post: Http://forums.asp.net/t/1371394.aspx. I assure you that this is not a solution because I am not storing any of my files on a network share.

What do you think my approach should be.

I already have read rights to IIS user to my BIN folder.

Thanks for the help.

Problems posting to a package

Hey Y'all

I'm currently creating a program that accesses a mysql package to add data to a few tables.  I'm currently getting an error that says  "

ORA-01403: no data found
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 42
ORA-06512: at "JESSE.PKG_WORKPLAN", line 177
ORA-06512: at line 1

"

These lines are

42: INSERT INTO WP_PROJECTS_USERS (PROJECT_USERS_ID, FIELD_UNIT_ID, PROJECT_ID, USER_ID, START_DATE, DESCRIPTION)

and 177:add_team_members(V_PROJECT_ID, V_START_DATE, v_FISC_YEAR, V_MEMBERS ,V_NUM_MEMBERS,'add');

Checking these variables in my asp.net page they are all receiving parameters.

Is there a  way to see what the database is actually receiving from the asp.net page?

Or is there another thing to be looking at?

Thanks!
