After a fresh install of Win XP, MSVCP71.dll and msvcr71.dll are Missing

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
Hi,   I have a Dell XPS 410 desktop and installed Win XP Media Center with a Service Pack 2.   Evrything looks fine but ...when I run some application, my screen says MSVCP71.dll and MSVCR71.dll are missing.   Even after a fresh install of Win XP Media Center, I don't understand why a few system files are missing... Could you tell me what causes the problem? Do I have a defective Windows XP CD?   Is it normal with a fresh install of Win XP with Service Pack 2, missing MSVCP71.dll and MSVCR71.dll?   Thanks

Fresh Install, New Site - List does not exist

I freshly installed Sharepoint 2010 Enterprise Trial Windows 2008 Standard Server SP2, Fresh Install Active Directory Domain Services role is enabled I am an administrator After the install all I did was to create one site.  Three new groups Site1 Owners, Site1 Members, Site1 Visitors.  I added myself to all three groups.  I have done nothing else to the site. When I visit the site on the internal address http://mysite - everything works When I visit the site on the external http://mysite.mycompany.com - I get the ubiquitous and useless "List does not exist" error.   I assume there's a mapping that I'm missing, but I'm not sure why the default site would work, but the new one fails.

MSVCR71.dll is missing.

I have loaded Thorpeforms on my computer but it needs MSVCR71.dll to run.  How do I get this file?

SQL2005 Express Install fails with advisory that .NET 2.0 is either corrupt or missing

I am trying to install SQLExpress 2005 adv on an XP Pro SP2 machine standalone and keep on getting the same error -- "SQL setup has detected a problem with Microsoft .Net Framework installation and cannot proceed. Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 is either not installed on this system or is corrupt."I have uninstalled/reinstalled .Net 2.0 some many time that I think it come close to the population of China. Still the same message. I had no problems on a different machine so I cloned that Hard drive, re-activated the software and tried on this machine. Still the same problem. I know what you are thinking, it must be machine related. Both machine have identical hardware from motherboard, Bios, peripherals, memory, Hard drives, CDROM and DVD drives. I took the failed HD and put it in the machine that installed correctly and the same thing happened - the install failed with the same message.I used "installer" to check the install info -- Both .Net 1.1 and 2.0 show up properly.I ran MSIZAP !G to get rid of orphans.I uninstalled SQLExpress. Cleaned the registry. ran the clwireg-x86.exe, removed both .Net 1.1 and 2.0 several times. Blew the hard drive away sevral times and restarted from scratch.Still the same perfectly useless message.Any help would be appreciated at this stage.Motherboard is Asus P5QL/EPU, 2.5 gHz Intel P43 Quad core, 4 G DDR2, 160 SATA WD

Fresh SP2007 Install on Windows 2003, get 404 error for Central Administrator

Hi Folks,

I am very new to Sharepoint (and Server 2003). Installed Sharepoint Server 2007 on a 64 bit machine over Windows Server 2003. This is a standalone install (No Server Farm). After "Sharepoint Products and Technologies Configuration Wizard" succesfully completes, I am unable to get to the Central Administration page (or any page). I get the error page: "HTTP Error 404  - File or directory not found. Internet Information Services (IIS)" .

I am unable to see any of the web pages in the Webroot directory and am stumped.

Here are some screen shots:

SQL Server 2005 64bit Install - Missing Management Studio

Good Afternoon,

I just installed SQL Server 2005 64bit on a fresh system with no other applications loaded on running on the new server.

The only other component that was installed with the SS2K5 database services is SSIS. The base installation and the SP2 patch went on perfect.

I went looking for the Management Studio thru the Start menu options and it is NOT under the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 group. The only options under the SS2K5 group are "Configuration Tools" and "Docs and Tutorials".

Here are file names that I downloaded from the MS website and installed.

   SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #1 x64 MLF.x11-57796 (which is a zipped)

There was also another zipped file that I tried to install but it seems to be a duplicate of the zipped file above:

SW CD SQL Svr Enterprise Edtn 2005 64Bit X64 English #2 x64 MLF.x11-57797

Any help would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks ALL!

Missing Default.aspx in MVC2 after install of MVC3 RC

After I install MVC3 RC, I then create an MVC2 application for old time sake using VWD2010 but the default.aspx is missing.

I copy-paste the default.aspx and default.vb page from another working MVC2 app and replaced the Inherits value of the default.aspx of the new app (MyAnotherMVC2App).

<%@ Page Language="VB" AutoEventWireup="false" CodeBehind="Default.aspx.vb" Inherits="MyAnotherMVC2App._Default" %>

<%-- Please do not delete this file. It is used to ensure that ASP.NET MVC is activated by IIS when a user makes a "/" request to the server. --%>

Accessing the default page in localhost works but not in production which doesn't see the MVC default page. Sad

Thank You for any help.

SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition Install fail due to .NET Framework 3.5 missing

I am attempting to install SQL Server 2008 Developer Edition on my laptop.  I already have VS 2008 SP1 installed and the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 installed on my machine.  When I run setup.exe, it fails saying the .NET Framework 3.5 installation failed and that .NET Framework 3.5 is required for the installation.  I obviously have this already on my machine.  What's the problem and how do I get this to install?  Below is the text in my SqlSetup.log file:

Content Query Web Part missing in SharePoint 2010

If you don't see content query web part listed in the web parts list, this is because you have not enabled "Search Server Web Parts" feature in site collection features. Enable this feature and content query web part will show in the list of web parts.

Missing 'new item templates'

 Hi all,

          I am a 'newbie' to VWD and I am slowly working through the Basic Walkthrough Help files, and learning plenty along the way.

However, when I tried to create a new database in the LINQ control walkthrough I found that the option to create a new database is missing, and further investigation has found that many other new item templates are missing.

I am using a brand new machine with Windows 7 Ultimate and have enabled IIS and .NET from Control Panel-Programs-Turn Windows Features On-Off. I used the WPI to install all basic elements eg. IIS Components, SQL Server Express.

The only 'new item templates' I have when I right-click the App_Data Folder and choose 'new item' are:-

ADO.NET Data Service

AJAX Enabled WCF Service

Dynamic Data Field

SQL Server Database

Text File

XML File

Does anyone know where I have gone wrong.

SqlServer - Windows Account to install Application from Gallery

Referring to this tutorial: http://www.asp.net/webmatrix/tutorials/download-and-install-an-asp-net-application

I selected umbraco cms and got this wizard:

I already have Standard Sql Server 2005 on my machine which I wanted to us for above DB and not SqlExpress.

I did not remember "sa" account pwd nor I use explicitly any account to connect to my Sqlserver. I use Windows Authentication account i.e implicit authentication. So I created new account and gave all rights and used it in the above wizard and was able to install the database after some struggle.

My question is: What if I want to use my Windows Account to install the database above? Why the wizard don't have any option to use Windows Integrated Authentication?

Note: I can create the DB with external user I created, just looking specifics for using Windows Authentication for above installation.

VWDE 2010 Won't Install Ajax Control Toolkit on XP Pro

To my displeasure I cannot find VWD2005 which at one time would generate a complete web.config for Ajax so I downloaded and installed VWDE 2010 to a clean install of XP Pro.

I've created a new tab on the toolbar for the controls but after I select the Ajax dll to add the controls to the toolbar it grinds away and then goes poof and closes down the task leaving VWD look as if I had never even created the tab in the toolbar.

Any advice here?

Modifying connection String in Web config using Install Wizard

Im trying to create a Web Deployment Project, the built in setup and deployment is very good in Visual Studio, i need to able to add an additional step in the setup to change the connection string in the Web config file. Ive seen a lot of articles on how to do this and in particular this http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/06/15/tip-trick-creating-packaged-asp-net-setup-programs-with-vs-2005.aspx#7162670 I am however stuck on the final part of this tutorial, im using the code Scott provided but have two errors,  heres part of my code where the errors are

using System;
using System.Configuration;
using System.Configuration.Install;
using System.ComponentModel;
using System.Diagnostics;
using System.IO;
using System.DirectoryServices;

 void ConfigureDatabase(string targetSite, string targetVDir, string connectionString)
            // Retrieve "Friendly Site Name" from IIS for TargetSite
            DirectoryEntry entry = new DirectoryEntry("IIS://LocalHost/" + targetSit

How to install the Css Friendly Control Adapter Source Code

Hi guys really new to ASP.NET I was trying to install the CSS Friendly control adapter but for some reason the instructions on the website seems outdated. I downloaded all the files (Source Code, DLL, Browser) I believe I need to add the DLL file to my website's Bin folder and the Browser file to the APP_Browsers folder is this correct? After I place this files how to I get it working? what do I have to do?

Also if I want to create a new DLL file from the Source code how do I do these? I opened the web-site with Visual Studio 2008 and I can see all the files in the solution explorer? But how do I compile this to a DLL file? I tried doing a build solution but all I get is an .sln file???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance
