Suite Integration Toolkit executable has stopped working On Windows 2008 R2

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 06, 2010    Points: 0   Category :.NET Framework
I am not sure what else I can say about this except I seem to run into this error each time I attempt to install any .NET Related tool above 1.1. I have tried clean out all .NET installs to reinstall but I run up against this and at this point, I have a machine that is clean of .NET 2.0 through 4.0. I am unable to reinstall because I keep running up against this problem. I am not certain where to go from here Problem signature:   Problem Event Name: APPCRASH   Application Name: setup.exe_Microsoft® Visual Studio® 2008   Application Version: 9.0.30729.1   Application Timestamp: 488f1f5c   Fault Module Name: urlmon.dll   Fault Module Version: 8.0.7600.16385   Fault Module Timestamp: 4a5bdf64   Exception Code: 80000003   Exception Offset: 0008b5df   OS Version: 6.1.7600.   Locale ID: 1033   Additional Information 1: 3da0   Additional Information 2: 3da0da3513034f247aa571ff6433c6a8   Additional Information 3: efee   Additional Information 4: efee7faa0523fea9d1582687f878296e Read our privacy statement online:   http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=104288&clcid=0x0409 If the online privacy statement is not available, please read our privacy statement offline:   C:\Windows\system32\en-US\erofflps.txtN

FTP Task working in XP but not working in Windows 7/2008 machines

Hey , A FTP Task in IS pkg is working fine when executed through BIDS in my Win XP machine ..but the same package is not working in Win 7/2008 machine. FTP task fails with the error : [FTP Task] Error: Unable to connect to FTP server using "FTPFolder.TempData.com". Here are few facts about my troubleshooting : 1) From my XP machine... I am able to connect to the FTP Server using DOS Cmds but fails in 2008 machine saying "Unknown host" I did : Run>Cmd>FTP>Open FTPFolder.TempData.com 2) I can view the files on the FTP server through a browser ( URL was given )on both the machines with no issues. 3) I created Port exception for 20 & 21 Ports for 2008 machine ...still no luck. 4) When I PING the FTP server --Cmd>PING FTPFolder.TempData.com On XP Machine...though FTP Server Name is resolved to IP... I still receive "Request timed out." On 2008 Machine ...the IP is not even resolved and error is thrown "Ping request could not find host FTPFolder.TempData.com. Please check the name and try again." 5) I am connecting to FTP Server from my Office machines. I have searched all the threads on this FTP error topic and haven't found the apt thread..so I have opened a new one.

Windows Forms application Stopped Working message in Windows Vista

A Windows Forms application developed with VB2008 Express that has been successfully run on two Windows XP systems and a Windows 7 system fails to run on two of two Windows Vista systems tried so far.

Attempting to run the app on a Windows Vista system results in a system dialog box titled, Microsoft Windows, with the message, A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.  A single button at the lower right of the dialog contains the text, Close Program.
The initial form of the application never displayed and the dialog above appeared with little delay after attempting to start the program.

The program uses an SQL Server Compact Edition 3.5 database and the program is compiled to include the following .DLL files so the user does not need to install SQL ServerCE.

The Load event of the initial form causes a DataSet to be filled from the SQL CE DB.

I have the System Informa

ReportViewer on IIS 7 Windows 2008 not rendering, usual fix not working

I moved from Katmai and Windows 2003, to SQL 2008 RTM and Server 2008 with IIS 7. My ReportViewer based .Net application runs but reportviewer control icons do not display and the report does not render. Same reports render in ReportManager and Visual Studio. I tried this common fix which did not work:

  • Open Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager and select your Web application.
  • Under IIS area, double-click on Handler Mappings icon.
  • At the Action pane on your right, click on Add Managed Handler.
  • At the Add Managed Handler dialog, enter the following:
    Request path: Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd
    Type: Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandler
    Name: Reserved-ReportViewerWebControl-axd
  • Click OK.

My Web.Config is below. Any insights appreciated.

Word Automation Issue in Windows Server 2008 Hosting

The problem I am posting here is that I was facing nearly 2 weeks around. Any body comes with this stuff please help.

Word Automation in sample ASP.NET(C#) application.

I am using Microsoft.Office.Inetrop.Word Assembly for automation. Here I am reading a XXX.dot template file and fill the contents with dynamic data.

When i am executing my code in localhost:someportnumber the automation is working fine and I could get expected result and when I am hosting in my inetmgr(Windows XP is my OS) it is also working fine.

But the problem is that when I am hosting in my production server(Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition) I am not able to perform automation and results in the following error.

Data: System.Collections.ListDictionaryInternal
Message: Word has encountered a problem.
Source: Microsoft Word

The code gets failed in the following line:

ApplicationClass wordApp = new Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word.ApplicationClass();

Document wordDoc = wordApp.Documents.Add(ref oTemplate, ref oFalse, ref oMissing, ref oMissing); // Error in this line

I cannot able to proceed further. Can anybody please help me in solving this issue?

Thank you.

With Regards,

No ASPNET User in Windows Server 2008?

I have been looking everywhere online regarding this, but have not found a clear answer.

I have an ASP.Net app running on Windows Server 2008, it's basically a reporting app using Crystal Reports. I have encountered a roadblock in regards to rendering some pages. When I run the app in Visual Studio(on the same 2008 machine) everything works perfectly. Yet when I publish it and run it live the reports will not display correctly, I get a message saying Failed to render page.

I looked this error up in the Crystal Reports website and the fixes they have there refer to giving the windows "aspnet" user full access rights to certain folders on the machine. I would be happy to do this, however there is no aspnet user in Windows Server 2008.

I installed the server and set its role to be Web Server. I also checked all the options regarding ASP.Net and IIS 6 compatibility. Yet there is no ASPNET username anywhere.

Did I set the server up wrong? or do I have to do something within ASP.Net to  create this user and then give it rights?

Scripting: Windows Script Host 5.6 Boasts Windows XP Integration, Security, New Object Model

Windows Script Host (WSH) 5.6, a major upgrade for the WSH environment, provides some significant improvements over previous versions. A brand new security model that is tightly integrated with security in Windows XP allows administrators to place fine-grained restrictions on scripts reducing the risk from malicious code. In addition, local scripts can now run on remote machines, and enhancements to the object model reduce the amount of boilerplate code needed when writing professional code. This overview of WSH 5.6 explains these changes and how .NET and scripting work together.

Inside Windows: An In-Depth Look into the Win32 Portable Executable File Format, Part 2

The Win32 Portable Executable File Format (PE) was designed to be a standard executable format for use on all versions of the operating systems on all supported processors. Since its introduction, the PE format has undergone incremental changes, and the introduction of 64-bit Windows has required a few more. Part 1 of this series presented an overview and covered RVAs, the data directory, and the headers. This month in Part 2 the various sections of the executable are explored. The discussion includes the exports section, export forwarding, binding, and delayloading. The debug directory, thread local storage, and the resources sections are also covered.

Inside Windows: An In-Depth Look into the Win32 Portable Executable File Format

A good understanding of the Portable Executable (PE) file format leads to a good understanding of the operating system. If you know what's in your DLLs and EXEs, you'll be a more knowledgeable programmer. This article, the first of a two-part series, looks at the changes to the PE format that have occurred over the last few years, along with an overview of the format itself. After this update, the author discusses how the PE format fits into applications written for .NET, PE file sections, RVAs, the DataDirectory, and the importing of functions. An appendix includes lists of the relevant image header structures and their descriptions.
