I'm developing Visual Studio 2010 solution for site pages. I’ve created Site Pages in SharePoint 2010 and I’m trying to access Session variables in code
behind in ASP.NET but it throws the following error.
Session state can only be used when enableSessionState is set to true, either in a configuration file or in the Page directive. Please
also make sure that System.Web.SessionStateModule or a custom session state module is included in the <configuration>\<system.web>\<httpModules> section in the application configuration.
I set the page directive as
I have always had this in my mind,
its like i am creating an Intranet portal so i want my users who has access to intranet portal, when logs on to the site should prompt the user to mandatory complete his profile and like every 6 months should alert the user to update his profile.
this should be tricky,
looking forward for your replies
We have a new requirement where we have to staple a number of features to a custom web templates. Now when we try to staple the features to the custom web template, they are not getting reflected in the custom web templates.
Is feature stapling allowed in custom Web Templates? Could someone help out in this regard.
The Connect to Outlook feature in SharePoint Server 2007 uses a .pst file to store content that is visible in Outlook. This has caused issues in the past with a client's enterprise policy of preventing use of .pst files on desktops. This particular client
has an application that periodically checks for .pst files and deletes them, which breaks the Connect to Outlook feature for them.
Does SharePoint 2010 use the same functionality to Connect to Outlook, or something different?
Hi, I am using Fast for Sharepoint and I have created a simple Employee database in SQL server 2008 and I am trying to crawl this database.
Using Sharepoint designer, I have created an external repository and I have configured it to look at my test database. After trying to crawl this database - I get two successfyul documents crawled - which are just junk documents. And 5 errors.
The errors say:
Error while crawling LOB contents. ( IEntity could not be found using criteria 'Id=2502'. )
I also noticed that if I was to disable "Defaul Action" from the BDC configuration, then I get all successful crawled documents. However, if I click on any of those documents in the search page, then it brings me to "unkown page".
This makes sense since Default Action (View Profiles) is disabled. Does anyone know how to avoid this error message above without having to disable Defaul Action check box?
P.S. I can also see that the connection between SQL Server - BDC - SP is working since when I create a user profile page, I can see that data populate.
I have a sharepoint 2010 site running on Publishing portal template. I have to deploy this site in client’s server. I am new in sharepoint so made some research on this and found saving the site as template and that will give a .wsp file and can deploy.
But as I am using publishing portal ‘Save as template’ option is not coming under ‘site settings’. Could anyone please guide me for best way to deploy publishing portal site on another server. Unfortunately at this point of time I can’t
change the site template from publishing portal to some other template, I am helpless.
Thanks in advance.

A new site collection has been created and uses SharePoint 2010 team site template. How can you activate the publishing feature on it?
I have activated the publishing feature at site collection and site level but I still can edit pages etc without requiring check out and approval/publishing. There are probably settings I need to activate on other doc libraries but I wanted to know the best
practice for this scenario and how to configure it.
I have created a SharePoint 2010 portal and I'm trying to configure external host header (www.xyz.com) to it. I bought
www.xyz.com from provider where it was mapped to static IP address on the SharePoint server.
I tried the following options in SharePoint Admin and none of them worked.
Added xyz.com address in lmhosts and hosts files
I was following the instruction through MSDN on
Custom WCF Service through SharePoint.
I followed fairly closely (just getting the URL fuction), but I'm getting the error:
The type 'VenURLService.WCFService, VenURLService, Version=188.8.131.52, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=facac471d5ba3278', provided as the Service attribute value in the ServiceHost directive could not be found.
The name of my project is VenURLService.
My VenURLService.vb looks like this:
Public Class VenURLService
Public Function GetCurrentWebURL() As String
I am planning to use NewsGator socical feature into SharePoint 2010. I am new in Newsgator. I want help on the NewsGator Implementation.
I need to implement NewsGator 2010 social sites offering for MySites.
1. How we can Implement the NewsGator on Socical site?
2. Any technical reference is avilable?
I just updated from MOSS 2007 to MOSS 2010. Everything looks like it went well and most of the features are working except for the search feature. When I search for a known document that I know is in a library, Sharepoint does not list any results.
I can no longer search for any documents. ANy ideas on why this is? What are some steps I can take to look for the problem / solution? I have gone in the search settings in the central admin site and see that there is an error but cant determine
what that is.
Updated the portal to SharePoint Server 2010 (Database attach upgrade).
Process was completed: Status - Implemented Fault - 0 Warnings - 25
After updating the portal is available, the content can view, add, modify, add to the libraries and lists of new
columns. However, had this problem. If you change the view of a list of child nodes, it is redirected to a page
... _vti_bin / owssvr.dll? CS = 65001 with the message "Error. The list does not exist."
Changing view from the root node of the collection is fine. The same situation is when you connect SharePoint Designer
2010. The root node is connected, to a child - displays an error - "Version Microsoft SharePoint Foundation, running on
the server is newer than your version of SharePoint Designer. You need to install a later version of SharePoint
In the logs record additional information about the error does not contain.
Set up alternative access mapping. Tried to restore from a backup, reconnect the base content - did not help. "Lost"
objects do not found. Test-SPContentDatabase no issues.
Tracing calls to the database content revealed the following fact, when changing view procedure
proc_GetTpWebMetaDataAndListMetaData not share information about the list.

I have successfully added a branding feature to my 2010 environment that activates on install. Just as expected, it does not work for subsite creation. I have seen a number of articles/blog posts on how to create a feature stapler for SP2007. However, I
am having a hard time finding a working solution for SP2010 using VS2010.
I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can point me in the right direction on:
1. In my project I have a branding feature, this contains the EventReceiver that applies the change. Can I have a second feature here that does the stapling or does it need to be in a completely seperate project?
2. Everything I read points to two files feature.xml and elements.xml, are both of those supposed to be under Features in Solution Explorer or are they located somewhere else or do they need to be create. If they need to be created, where do they belong?
3. In the EventReceiver.cs file there is a GUID that was automatically generated. Is this the GUID referenced in the feature.xml?
Hopefully with these questions answered I can move forward and find a solution to getting the stapler working.
