Adding a custom ASP page to a sharepoint 3.0 site

I have a custom ASP page that I need to add to my sharepoint 3.0 web site.  I created a virtual directory under my website and placed the ASP file.  When I link to the ASP file, I get a 404 page not found.  To make sure I had the correct URL path, I created a test html file and placed in the same virtual directory and linked to it just fine.  I think it has something to do with managed paths and sharepoint trying to control this new ASP content.  I cannot figure out how to exclude this content from managed paths.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue so I can run this custom ASP file under sharepoint 3.0?

Importing SharePoint List Data into Project Server 2007 Custom Fields

Learn how to use the programmability features of Project Server 2007 and Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to import SharePoint list data into an enterprise custom field.

SharePoint makes Office Document custom fields unreadable

We're using WSS 3.0SP2 with a Document Library that has document-level columns (fields) added. The columns (fields) are defined as single-line text; nothing fancy. In SharePoint we can set the field values no problem. When we pull the documents back out of SharePoint to the file systsem, and look at the Custom Fields, the values are unreadable gibberish. They look like graphics lines and boxes and the Type is set to Unknown.

Any ideas why this is happening and how to fix it?

Adding additional fields to my custom membership provider

Hi, i have been playing around with the membership provider model for the last week and have it got it working with a basic table schema.  The trouble i have is that i wish to add an additional field (eg First Name) but am not sure how i can do this.  Here's what i have so far: public override MembershipUser CreateUser(string username, string password, string email, string passwordQuestion, string passwordAnswer, bool isApproved, object providerUserKey, out MembershipCreateStatus status)    {        MembershipUser user = new MembershipUser(Name, username, providerUserKey, email, passwordQuestion, null, isApproved, false, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now, DateTime.Now);        string sql = "INSERT INTO USERS(USERNAME,PASSWORD,EMAIL,ISACTIVE) VALUES(@UID,@PWD,@EMAIL,@ISACTIVE)";        db.AddParameter("@UID", username);        db.AddParameter("@PWD", password);        db.AddParameter("@EMAIL", email);        db.AddParameter("@ISACTIVE", (isApproved == true ? "Y" : "N"));        int i = db.ExecuteNonQuery(sql);

Adding a custom control to the SharePoint 2010 Team Site Wiki Page Template ( wkpstd.aspx ) programm

Topic This is maybe my last post about the Team Site Wiki Page customization with the aim of exceeding its limitations. This time we are going to customize the unique template ( wkpstd.aspx) by replacing the control that renders the editable content by a custom one. In this post example, we will take advantage of the use of this custom control to render not editable additional contents, for instance, a header and a footer that could be the same for a specific Wiki Page Library. Of course, we are not going to really customize the template, but we are going to use a delegate control to replace the control at runtime. Here are the screen shots of the result: We can see a non editable Header and Footer on the Team Site Wiki Page In edit mode these additional contents are not rendered, but we can add new content as usual And of course, after having saved the page, the new content is rendered wtih the non editable Header and Footer. Steps required   If you look at the Team Site Wiki Page template, wkpstd.aspx, you can see the control that is rendering the editable content/ <SharePoint:EmbeddedFormField ID="WikiField" FieldName="WikiField" ControlMode="Display" runat="server" /> We are first going to create a custom EmbeddedFormField control Then, we are going to use a delegate control to replace the native EmbeddedFor

Problem with Update of Sharepoint Taxonomy Fields in custom developed Content Types

Dear all, we developed an solution on sharepoint 2010 for one of our customers with custom lists and content types with fields from the managed meta data store. As recommended we developed everything in features & solutions so that easy deployment is possible. Adding metadata to the termstore seems to work without problems, but today we stepped over an confusing issue: Our customer changed the default label of an term in the metadata term store, but the label did not change in listviews and detailviews of items in the specific sitecollection. In editview we see the correct label. After searching a while we discovered the connection between the sitecollection and the term store, the hidden Taxonomylist (/Lists/TaxonomyHiddenList/AllItems.aspx) in the sitecollection, which seems to map the terms. After testing we discovered that the term/label did also not change in the hidden taxonomy list. The Timerjob “Taxonomy Update Scheduler“ is running hourly with success and we also tried to start the job manually, but the label did not change in the hidden list. Also there are no errors in the logfiles in verbose mode. We also tested to create a managed metadata field manually, put it in a list and after that, changed the label. For whatever reason the update of labels on manually created fields works without a problem. Our lists, content types etc get created pr

Problem validating StringBuilder fields in SharePoint 2010 Custom Workflow Validators

One of our custom SharePoint Designer workflow activities, which have always worked fine in SharePoint 2007, fails to validate.

This appears to happen when a Workflow Activity that contains a StringBuilder field also contains a lookup variable.

<FieldBind Field="CustomCode" Text="this code" Id="1" DesignerType="StringBuilder" />

For example when we store the following in this StringBuilder field

"Today's date = [%Current Item:Transaction Date%]"

This field returns 'null' in the ActivityValidator. As a result we cannot validate its contents.

Problem with adding third party webparts and sharepoint webparts to the custom pages

Hi All,

 I have a problem with my custom webpart pages which are inside sitedefinition. I have a sitedefinition defined for creating sites and sitedefinition contains the master pages and .aspx pages. My pages have webpartzone defined to with the custom webparts added in it. From the browser, when I try to add third party webparts or sharepoint webparts or my custom webparts, it's failing with "Unable to add selected web part(s). The operation could not be completed because the Web Part was deleted by another user or is invalid." Does anyone have the same problem? Please help me. Why the pages are not allowing to add any other webparts to the page. Also I double checked my pages and webpartzones if I am blocking to add webparts via AllowCustomizations=false but I am not. If I create a site with the sitedefinition, isn't it possible to add webparts to the page manually? I haven't found any information about this. Any ideas please.

Thanks in advance,

SharePoint Designer - custom forms - DateTime fields

Whenever I create a new custom display form using SharePoint Designer the DateTime fields display value using wrong format and the time is not correct.

For example:
Default display form: 29/03/2011 11:39
Custom display form: 2011-03-29T10:39:17Z
(not only different format, but also different time)

Why is that and how can I display correct date and time using the correct format?

Write Custom WebParts for SharePoint 2007

The popularity of SharePoint Portal Server 2003 led Microsoft to tightly integrate the next SharePoint version, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007, with its ASP.NET 2.0 WebPart framework. This tight integration enables the ASP.NET and SharePoint developer to do a number of things that previously weren't possible

Adding Search Refinements in SharePoint 2010

I have been playing around with SharePoint 2010 Search this morning. I love the new UI. The search refinements panel is just begging to be messed with. In my case I wanted to add the file extension JPG as an Image Type refiner.

Writing Custom Web Parts for SharePoint 2007

As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, SharePoint 2007 is built on top of ASP.NET 2.0, which means you can now use ASP.NET 2.0 features (Forms Authentication, Master Pages, Membership, Site Navigation, New Data Controls, etc) when building SharePoint sites. This is true for both the new Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 version (which will be a free download) as well as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 (which costs money).
