SQL Server 2008 Install failure - Reporting Services Rule Failures

I'm installing SQL Server 2008 on Windows 7.  I'm going through the install and on the "Installation Rules" page I have two failures: Reporting Services Catalog Database File Existance Reporting Services Catalog Temporary Database File Existance Clicking on each of the failures they both say that each file exists "Select a reporting services file-only mode installation" Clicking the "Help" button tells me to "Rename, move, or delete the files" This is the only information I can find on this exact failure.  I'm not technical enough to know exactly where these files are or what they are named.  I cannot proceed any further without correcting this issue.  I'll include some of the shorter summary log files.  I can include other detail log files if that would help. Thank you so much for any help. Select Log Files: SUMMARY GLOBAL RULES LOG: Overall summary:   Final result:                  Passed   Exit code (Decimal):           0   Exit message:                  Passed   Start time:                &n

SQL Server Reporting Services not able to install on Windows Vista Home Premium

Recently I had a weird problem while trying to install SQL Server Reporting Service in my local PC. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium and I wanted to configure SSRS in my PC. During the installation, the setup wizard listed all the services that we want to install and I found that only Reporting Server checkbox option was disabled and I wondered why??? I thought it may be becuase of some installation problem and tried again and its useless... I googled lot of sites for 3 days and finally found that due to some IIS issues, it is not possible to install Reporting Server in Vista Home Premium version. Reporting Server needs some specific IIS features to be installed in the machine.

But unfortunately those features are not available for Home Premium users which in term restricts users not to install reporting server in our PCs... Also, Microsoft has accepted it as an issue and its not possible to get it install in Home Premium...just wanted to share and might be useful for someone like me.

SQL Server 2005: Install reporting services - which version?

Hello - I installed SQL Server 2005 as part of an SBS2008 install. I need to install reporting services, but now I'm having trouble identifying which version (X64 or X86) I'm running. Is there an easy way of figuring out which installation disk I need to insert for SQL Server 2005? Thanks, Nick.

How to save Windows credentials to a data source in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 using Visual

I am trying to create a shared data source for SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 that uses a specific Windows user ID and password to connect to the database. Using the Report Manager web interface, if I create a shared data source and specify "Credentials stored securely in the report server", I can check the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. This tells SSRS that the user ID and password I specify are from a Windows user, not a SQL Server user. I want to create the shared data source using Visual Studio though. In Visual Studio I have an option to use stored credentials but there is no equivalent of the "Use as Windows credentials when connecting to the data source" checkbox. SSRS always assumes that user and password are for a SQL Server user, not a Windows user, and thus the connection fails. Does anyone know how to tell Visual Studio that the stored credentials are for a Windows user?

Can't connect to SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services

When attempting to connect to SQL Server 2008 (evaluation) on Windows XP SP3, using the following url, http://servername:8080/ReportServer I receive a popup dialog box asking me for a user name and password to connect to the server.  When I enter the domain\user and password that I think it should be, it pops up two more times and then displays a blank internet explorer web page.  It is a fresh install and I believe I have everything running correctly.   Any input or guidance would be extremely appreciated.   Thank you in advance.

Run Reporting services 2005 with databases housed on SQL Server 2008?

Hi, I have a RS 2005 install in which the ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB databases reside on a different SQL Server 2005 server. I am planning to upgrade both to 2008 at some point but would like to do the SQL database engine first. So I would be running something like this: Server A: SQL 2005 Reporting Services Server B: SQL 2008 database engine - housing ReportServer and ReportServerTempDB Is this configuration supported? If I do this would I just need to run the DB's in 9.0 compatibility mode until we upgrade the RS server? Would it be better to upgrade the RS box first or both of them at the same time instead of doing the database engine first?

Run Reporting services 2005 with databases housed on SQL Server 2008?

increase initial size in SQL Server 2008 with Advanced Reporting Services

What is the maximum size a database using SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services  can grow to?  I currently have one that is 204.44 MB with 0 space free.  Growth is set to Auto.  How can I increase the database size in this version?  I would like to allow it to be at least 400 MB?  May I simply increase the Initial Size to be 400 MB; and then increase the log file size to be 2 MB (currenlty set to 1)?  The enable autogrowth is set to grow automatically by 10 percent.

SQL Server 2008 R2 Reporting Services - How to I run a report and save the output as a .pdf on the s

I have the source code for doing what I want to do using a previous version of SSRS.  Since the new release, the service seems to work differently as I can't find any of the methods in the WSDL:

//Validate txtEmail for inputting

if
 (txtEmail.Text.ToUpper().StartsWith("XX"

{
lblPrompt.Text="You must enter a valid email address!"

TimeSheet.wdsg_svr003.ReportingService();

Can't install Service Pack 3 for SQL Server 2005 Reporting Services

I just installed a stand-alone SQL Server 2005 reporting services on a 64-bit Server 2008 machine without receiving any errors.  I have not configured reporting services yet, but I'd like to patch it with Service pack 3. However, when I execute Service Pack 3, it won't let me check the box for reporting services.  I've rebooted, etc.  The database is not installed on this server, just reporting services.

I have performed many searches, but I have not seen anyone with a similar problem.  What can I do so that it allows me to check the box during service pack installation?

Customizing look 'n feel for Sql Server 2008 R2 - Reporting Services

Hello,

I'm customizing the look and feel of reporting services so that it better matches the rest of our company's color templates, but I ran into some problems and I need some help. The bar that contains the export, print, find, paging, ... functions has a gradient in the background that doesn't fit. Is it possible to change that gradient? I ditn't find any matching pictures in the ReportManager\images folder.

Stefan

SQL Server Express 2008 Reporting Services - rsAccessDenied error

I've read through a lot of posts regarding the problem, but none of the proposed solutions have worked for me. I continue to get an error stating, "The permissions granted to user '<servername>\Rich' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)." If I am logged in as the local administrator account, entering the Reporting Services URL in IE doesn't give me that error, but it takes me to a blank page. I haven't been able to get to a SSRS home page at all.

Order of operations:

  1. I installed and patched Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
  2. I installed SQL Server Express 2008 with Advanced Services using the MS web installer.
  3. I downloaded and installed SP1 for SQL Server Express 2008.
  4. Opened up an instance of IE and tried to go to http://<servername>/Reports, receiving the above error. Well, technically I first tried /ReportServer_SQLExpress as reflected in the SSRS configuration manager, but that didn't work, either. I then changed the Web Service URL to use the virtual directory, "Reports" instead of the longer ReportServer_SQLExpress. It didn't work either way.

I've tried running IE as administrator, adding local machine to trusted sites, and just about every other suggestion I've found. I even ran the entire installation logged in as the loc

Error Upgrading from SQL Server 2000 - > 2008 R2 Reporting Services

Hello, I am having some trouble upgrading an existing SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services installation from an old server to a new one commissioned for this purpose, which is running SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services.  I have been following the instructions here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143724.aspx

but after trying to connect with reporting services 2008, i get this error:

The version of the report server database is either in a format that is not valid, or it cannot be read. The found version is 'C.0.6.54'. The expected version is '147'. (rsInvalidReportServerDatabase)

before starting the process, I ran upgrade advisor and got back the following results:

Description
Setup can upgrade a SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services instance that uses a SQL Server 2000 Database Engine in the same instance. However, upgrade is blocked if the report server database is in a different instance, on a remote instance, or runs on a remote SQL Server 2005 instance in SQL Server 2000 compatibility mode.
