A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

Posted By:      Posted Date: August 21, 2010    Points: 0   Category :ASP.Net

Hi,

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

A connection could not be made to the report server - Problem deploying an SSRS report from Business

I’m having trouble with what seems to be a common issue for people, regarding deployment of an SSRS report from Business Intelligence Development Studio. Unfortunately none of the solution I have seen posted here (and elsewhere) have been able to help me so far.   Two of my collegaues can both deploy with no problem, and I am using exactly the same Target destinations as them (TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder, TargetServerURL).   I have posted the error message below, which from my basic understaning would indicate, I think, a security issue (perhaps something local to my PC, or user account)   Has anyone experienced this particular issue who might be able to help?   Best wishes, Jamie TITLE: Microsoft Report Designer ------------------------------ A connection could not be made to the report server http://turpin-net.turpin-bg.local/Reportserver. ------------------------------ ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Client found response content type of 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'. SQL Server Configuration Manager: Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion

I have a SQL Server 2005 box that was moved from a domain environment to a non-domain environment and was never dropped from its original domain before moving over.  Subsequently a new domain was created at the data center this SQL Server box now resides in.  The machine was dropped from its old domain and joined to the new one.   All the while the service accounts were set to the local admin account.  When I tried to start the Configuration Manager I got the message "Connection to target machine could not be made in a timely fashion.".  I read some blog entries and tried changing all the service accounts to Local System and the error message still came up.   All of the SQL Server services run fine.  It is just this management console that I cannot open.  I wasn't with this employer when this box was moved to the data center so I do not know if it worked prior and there isn't anyone here that could give me its history.   Any help would be appreciated.

I have tried installing the patches, but it does'nt help me.  Request help from forum members. I have made a report using SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio. When I try to deploy I get the following error "a connection could not be made to the reporting server". I went to IE and was able to make a connection but not when deploying. I also right clicked on the project and selected properties and verified if the Target URL was correct and it is. Can anyone help. Thanks

I have a web page that contains a ReportViewer control.  I am trying to display a report, which is an .rdl file located on the SSRS server, in this ReportViewer control.  I have set the ReportPath and ReportServerUrl correctly.  I am getting an error message. Am I suppose to use an .rdlc file rather than a .rdl file?  Does the web server configuration need to use a certain account?  I am getting the following error message: The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. The request failed with HTTP status 404: Not Found.

Problems deploying Report in Local Server (localhost)

OK, I'm kind of new to SQL Server 2008 and I'm having issues trying to deploy a report in my local server.

Basically, I installed SQL Server 2008 R2 in my personal desktop and because of this, I thought no Service Account were necessary since I was going to be the only one accesing it; anyway; I've created a set of reports and everything works fine; but when I try to deploy them, they won't go through.

I open a browser and type http:\\localhost\reportserver and it actually requests me for a password; the username is already populated, which is the name of my computer, but then for the password, I didn't set up any password for anything, during the installation and if I put my computer password, it doesn'y work either, after three attemps, the browser simply goes blank.

I'm sure this might be a very basic issue, but I've been trying to look for answer, online, through forums etc; and no good luck yet...

Thanks in advanced for all your help!

An error occurred within the report server database. This may be due to a connection failure, timeo

I can't get Reporting Services to work with Sharepoint.

I've followed the instructions for installation of Reporting Service in SharePoint Integrated Mode, and completed the indicated steps on the SharePoint Central Administration Site successfully.  When I try to create a page with a Reporting Services Webpart, I get the following error:

===========================

Invalid object name 'History'.
----------------------------
An error occurred within the report server database.  This may be due to a connection failure, timeout or low disk condition within the database. (rsReportServerDatabaseError)

============================

I have SQL 2008 R2, SharePoint Enterprise 2010, and Report Builder 3.0.  SQL and Sharepoint are installed on the same server.

I'm certain that there isn't a disk or timeout problem, so I'm assuming that it's a connection failure, but don't know what steps to take to troubleshoot and correct this.

Thanks

using connection strings in the report server than the datasource in 2005

I am using a datasource in the report server where all the reports use that shared datasource while calling the reports from asp.net pages.

Now, as asp.net pages uses the connection string for the databases which is assigned in the web.config file, i want the reports also use the same connection string because you don't need to change on both places( web.config and report server datasource).

Any idea plz

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

I have two SQL Server instances installed.

1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?
