SQL JDBC Connection timed out, please help, I am in urgent

Posted By:      Posted Date: September 05, 2010    Points: 0   Category :Sql Server
Hi there, i am working on SQL JDBC 2005 version 1.1. I have a liferay portal database located at server 1, wsrp portlets' database located at server 2 (with instance name instance1). The producer (liferay) have to create a connection with server 2 (use connection string) to authenticate the consumer. If the registration properties is valid, then the consumer are able to consume the wsrp portlet. (Note that i use tomcat as web container)But when the producer connect to server 2, tomcat throws error:com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: The TCP/IP connection to the host  has failed. java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect    at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException.makeFromDriverError(Unknown Source)    at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnection.connectHelper(Unknown Source)    at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnection.loginWithoutFailover(Unknown Source)    at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerConnection.connect(Unknown Source)    at com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerDriver.connect(Unknown Source)    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:525)    at java.sql.DriverManager.getConnection(DriverManager.java:193)     at   com.mypackage.utils.DBUtils.getDBConnection(DBUtils.java:45)My connection string pattern is : "jdbcqlserver://{0}:{1};User={2};Password={3};DatabaseName={4}"Which {0}: s

JDBC connection to SQLserver failing with ERROR [JDBCExceptionReporter] The connection is closed.

SQL server version: MS 2005 9.00.3050.00 Std edition Development version is on a stand alone server. Production is on an active/active cluster. Full error message below. There is an explanation and solution as noted below. However we do not see this issue in all our environments. Can anyone tell me why we see this issue in our production environment but not on our development environment, especially as the issue seems to arise following low usage times. Explanation / Solution If you are using the v1.2 driver, and you can positively rule out transient network connectivity issues and multithreaded usage, the next most common cause I am aware of is where a connection pool is being used and the pooling manager (e.g. DBCP or C3PO) does not test pooled connections for validity before handing them out to the app. What happens in this case is connections that sit idle in the pool for a very long time get closed by the TCP/IP stack, routing hardware, etc. Then they're already dead when the pooling manager hands them out. The solution is to configure the pooling manager to validate connections before handing them out, typically using a validation query like "SELECT 1". JDBC Connection using Dynamic Ports

I have a sql cluster running 3 instances. One of the user is trying to connect to these instances using JDBC connectivity. We have configured to use Dynamic ports so the url with the default port is not working for us and I cannot change the port. Can you please plese let me know the URL for this. Also on the Surface Area Configuration Manager I sec Client Protocols ,How is this different from the Protocols for each instance.

SQL SERVER 2005 Analaysis Services -> KPI -> MOSS 2007. Connection Timed Out

I am using SharePoint 2007 and trying to set up some KPIs in Executive Dashboard.
I have an ODC uploaded to my document library which has been connected to analysis
services cube which also has some kpi's. When i use the ODC file to connect to analysis
services to retrieve the KPI they don't seem to appear under ALL KPI'S and i also get an

This data connection does not use encryption for the communication with the SQL Server
2005 Analysis Services server. It is recommended to enable encryption for the SQL Server
2005 Analysis Services server to help prevent unauthorized users from viewing this information.

The connection either timed out or was lost.

The same works connection file works in Excel.

JDBC Driver - is the connection to DB encrypted?

I'm using the JDBC4 driver.  As with most Java DB connections you create a connection URL similar to:

jdbc://myDatabaseServer user=jimmy; password=foobarbaz

My question is: is this login data transmitted to the SQL server in a secure manner when using the Microsoft JDBC4 driver?

SQL Connection String

We can learn or know how can we connect the database from our .net. This will help for freshers or .NET beginners!

abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.

ASP.NET provides a configuration system we can use to keep our applications flexible at runtime. In this article we will examine some tips and best practices for using the configuration system for the best results.

The element of a web.config file is a place to store connection strings, server names, file paths, and other miscellaneous settings needed by an application to perform work. The items inside appSettings are items that need to be configurable depending upon the environment, for instance, any database connection strings will change as you move your application from a testing and staging server into production.

Let's abstract away the source of the connection string using a class with a static property.

connection string question from a newbie

when publishing  in the webmatrix dialogue it asks for "destination connection string" for my "database.mdf"

I was not sure what it was so I pasted this from my web.config file :

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;AttachDbFilename=|DataDirectory|\database.mdf;Integrated Security=True;User Instance=True

it all published ok, but wont run, so I guess it has somthing to do with this connection string or some kind of configuration issue.

My question is this, What should go in the field for "Destination connection string"

localhost is not set up to establish a connection on port 51624 with this computer

I'm trying to run asp.net locally, but getting the error

localhost is not set up to establish a connection on port 51624 with this computer

How can I fix it?

connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly.

I dont have the SQL EXPRESS installed instead I have SQL Standard Edition.

I have two SQL Server instances installed.

1- UserLT (this is sql 2000)
2- UserLT\SQL2005 (this is SQL 2005 named instance)

But when i try to add a database to my VS website project I get the following error:

Connection to SQL Server files (*.mdf) require SQL server express 2005 to function properly. please verify the installation of the component or download from the URL: go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkId=4925

I went in Tools>Opetions>DataBase tools>Data Connection>Sql Server Instance Name (blank for default)

and changed the "SQLEXPRESS" to "USERLT\SQL2005".

But I still get the same error message. Any ideas how i can resolve this issue?

Unable to make connection to database?

Hy guys. I try to connect my database for so long so i wrote two type of codes. Let's discuse first on.

I have database called PhoneDirectory.

It have only one table named Residents.

I have button wiht ID="Button1".

I want when i click this button to see all of my residents.

I want to see the result in DetailsView and to be able to edin, delete and add new resident.

First try with SqlDataSource so i wrote this:

<asp:SqlDataSource ID="Resident Details" runat="server" ProviderName="System.Data.SqlClient" ConnectionStrings="<%$ ConnectionStrings:ThisIsTheConnection%>"
              SelectCommand = "SELECT * FROM Resident "

Need Oracle Data Provider .CS File for Oracle 10g Database connection !

I need a 'Wrapper.cs' file which takes care of the Database connection ( Oracle 10g) where

i can just call the method with my SQL Query

Gridview1.DataSource = SampleWrapper.ExecuteDatatable("THE SQL QUERY");

Plz Post the link if there is any open source !

Intermittant error: "A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respon

I'm having a doozy of a problem, and can't find a solution.  I have a WFC Web Service installed to a pair of servers, and accessed through a load balancer.  I am accessing the service from an ASP.NET client app, also via WCF.  The Client is not load balanced.

I'm getting an intermittant error:

(Inner Most Exception) System.Net.Sockets.SocketException:  A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80

(Middle Exception) System.Net.WebException: Unable to connect to the remote server

TCP error code 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond x.x.x.x:80.

I can reproduce this error with about 20% reliability if I execute the exact same page request on the client from 2 browsers at the same time.  When the problem occurs, the successful p

Modifying connection String in Web config using Install Wizard

Im trying to create a Web Deployment Project, the built in setup and deployment is very good in Visual Studio, i need to able to add an additional step in the setup to change the connection string in the Web config file. Ive seen a lot of articles on how to do this and in particular this http://weblogs.asp.net/scottgu/archive/2007/06/15/tip-trick-creating-packaged-asp-net-setup-programs-with-vs-2005.aspx#7162670 I am however stuck on the final part of this tutorial, im using the code Scott provided but have two errors,  heres part of my code where the errors are

About WAP and MSSQL Connection

Is it possible to create a wap having a mssql connection?

Can you give me some sample code? thanks

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.

  • I created a Report using Business Intelligence Studio. Its working working well, i can able to view records. But when i try to deploy the report an error occurs specifying that "A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer. (Microsoft Report Designer)".
  • I open the IIS 7 and find out virtual directories "Reports" and "ReportServer" are available.
  • I check on the browser and type "http://localhost/reports".  I find the browser direct to this url: http://localhost/reports/Pages/Folder.aspx and find error specifying the following one:

Error:The report server is not responding. Verify that the report server is running and can be accessed from this computer.

  • when i type http://localhost/reportmanager, i found the error:

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
